"Rule no.2: Calm the fuck down" I'm a fighting game player and my favourite archetype is rushdown. You can't just tell me to calm down. I will play Venom.
A key tip for Hulk is to turn off the 'Hold to Activate Incredible Leap' setting, switching it to a toggle. This lets you click once to charge the jump fully and click again to execute it. Useful for disengaging in combat
As a Hulk Enjoyer I do not recommend this setting. At the moment there is a weird delay when you land that doesnt exist on hold to charge. Also, you cannot jump cancel or do quick hops to get over small terrain.
@@MunitionsDudTesteryou can do small hops to get over tiny terrain, but it results in more spacebar spam. Which is generally just annoying and clunky. I agree that hold charge is better than toggle charge.
Groot does absolutely silly amounts of damage, but remember- little walls in front, big wall behind. Your big wall is not a wall. It's a health pack the size of texas. You let it block sight lines of anyone behind you, and as long as you are close to it, you get bonus health. It's insane. The little walls are not walls. They are turrets. Drop them behind enemies and fire away. As long as you're close enough to them, they will attack anything you attack. Groot is crazy strong.
Venom has so much mobility for a tank it’s actually broken. All I do every match is swing in, catch the healer, press shield if enemy takes me down to 400 health and then swing back to team if I failed 😂
Exactly why you dont swing in, you wallrun up a wall, then use your dive to go in, then swing out. Whenever possible. Which is actually most of the time, its a good loop with dive dps
@SnowRabbit-bq5yc thats fair, its mostly just in higher ranks people will start punishing you for not being able to leave at a moments notice (diamond+)
he's literally just a Wrecking Ball from Overwatch type character but actually good and a bit closer ranged. Both fun, but wrecking ball was kinda ass while venom rocks
If you hit hammer throw and immediately hit your primary fire it will do an animation cancel for big damage A good combo is storm surge melee until you get your abilities back hammer throw animation cancel ( also buff Captain America)
Reverse the order for the actual anim cancel - melee to hammer throw. Remember also that if you miss your hammer throw, it needs to return to your hand before you can start attacking with it again. Your dash should only be full charged as an initiator or a gap close finisher during a chase. The extra damage and range is negligible compared to immediately generated 100THP and moving into melee contact for pressure.
As a peni main, she can be great on attack, you have to take up a seige mentality over a castle up one though. Push up, emplace, push off the enemy, rinse and repeat. She's not the best at attack/aggro but she's not shit at attack either.
Peni main here. Her spider nest should be kept alive as much as possible or summoned before using your ult if you want to push forward. Her ultimate literally draws power from both herself and the nest itself. it creates webs that tracks enemies turning it into literal lava. Some enemies are oblivious and ignore this letting you net some unexpected kills. Though, the main weakness of her ult is that any CC can literally DUMP on you while ulting. [Which is pretty f'ed up.] Even a jeff can literally kidnap you while ulting which is ridiculous. Note: if he's in the web IT CAN KILL HIM if their didn't tank eat up all your mines. Fundamental tips when using spider nest: Don't let it get hit and just recall it when you know an enemy is gonna break it at a distance. You can also set it up and lengthen the webs 3/3 with your other webbing abilities to increase your area denial. Note: you can also use the nest as a powerful bait. Some people hate it with a vice and with good reason, it hits hard. LMAO.
Peni is such good anti dive. Attack or defense can't happen if a bp is killing your support. The nest, mines and the shortest cc cool down makes her great for keeping the backline fortified.
Comparatively speaking, I would have to put her at the bottom of the totem pole for vanguards on attack. It's very easy to severely punish Peni on any extension she tries.
Great generalist guide for Vanguards. One tip for the one-trick Hulks: As monster Hulk, get into melee range, punch them twice in a row while charging your jump, and right as you land your second hit, release the jump while aiming at the enemy; you will pin the enemy allowing you for some free hits. It's hard to pull off against small characters, but you can get it quite consistently against tanks.
Man is attack Peni underrated. She is amazing at securing space allowing you to slowly inch forward as an overhealthed anchor for your team. I've couple of general tips which help me regularly go 20-0 in quickplay. Never web your mines, it makes them so obvious that no one will run into them, putting mines in your nest however or on webs in the middle of the battlefield is pretty good. The best way I've found to get kills with mines is putting stacks of three on the sides of doorways and around corners which is enough to instakill any support or dps, minus Wolverine. The web is better used to stack up healing from your nest or to extend the range of the nests bombs. The real benefit of the web is it's use as a stunning tool, perfect for shutting down ults and locking highly mobile targets down for a second allowing your team to focus them. The tether isn't particularly good but it's a decent escape tool and great for faster runbacks. When it comes to her ult try to use it with the nest still alive as it also extends the range, try to activate it around corners as you can be stunned out of before it's fully ready.
Agreed, I wasn't expecting Peni on the cart to work super well but I just kept winning with her in quick play, then continued to keep winning in ranked. I'll concede she feels stronger on defense, especially for king of the hill. But her ability to stun enemies and lay down suppressing fire makes her super viable on the push. Plus, you can literally use the cart as cover for your spider nest.
Webbing your mines is indeed a total waste of time. I find her mines get consistent value just being thrown like they're grenades. No one particularly has the luxury of destroying a mine in the middle of getting shot at, especially on the objective, and their hitbox can be quite small, and with the amount of effects going all the time, they literally may not notice the mines being thrown at them. They don't glow, are small, and probably don't make any noise until they land and/or are arming. And they do consistently go off being placed in the middle of fights for me. You also have up to 4 at a time, and you regen 1 per 4 seconds, and they deal 100 damage. Placing your mines where you don't immediately expect them to get used within the next few seconds, is effectively leaving an ability perpetually off cooldown. The mines very likely are totally invulnerable until they land or arm too, so there's no concern about them being destroyed mid flight. In overwatch, a lot of people use Junkrat's bear trap... as a trap. When in reality, it's ridiculously good to just throw right into the middle of a fight and instantly snare someone in place almost every single time, particularly where they're super vulnerable out in the open. Definitely activate her ult behind cover, as you have TOO much time in the ult anyway, where most of the value is in her mines and you're kinda just flailing around uselessly with her melee anyway. You can cover objectives or make space for the payload, but you can also just throw a cluster of them right at their supports. It's super strong on a contested payload with the space being so small. Depending on the map (particularly on defense), you can move her station up a bit further while you sit on a web from your snare or tether for the healing benefit. The station also has no cooldown if you press the key again if it hasn't taken damage. You literally can instantly despawn and spawn it again. The cooldown is also effected by how much damage it's taken. The minimum might be like 3 seconds if it was at like 90% health.
An overlooked Peni detail, if you're supports are getting dived, it provides them with a valid safeguard to play around when placed conservatively and when they don't just run for their lives. A well placed stun/sleep within an established nest is a free kill on any diver. She is also secretly a DPS just laying lead down range and can easily play on the high ground splitting the enemies focus while attacking and not having to worry as much about getting out to heal. Hide for a second in your web and re-peek infinitly. As for mines, just mix it up, sometimes ill just place webs randomly in the middle of the lane without any mines. They'll avoid the webs without looking at the mines on the backwall. Especially if you cheese mines inside of a web at their spawn on defense, pairs well with strange portal blocking off one, 2 of the 3 exits covered. Just yeet mines down range, throw some on health packs just to negate their effects and keep em guessing.
Useful Venom tip, when using his ultimate use it when enemies are full health because it does more damage that way, so crash in, teather, then quickly Ult for the highest burst you can do with it. 😃
For venom its always best to use his wall climbing to engage whenever possible, save your swing for the escape. And if a groot traps you just climb over his fortnite walls lol
Here are some tips as someone who just hit gold I in a relative amount of time maining Strange as Vanguard main: Your goal is to hold the pressure points in the map. Sometimes it is the objective, but if you already have the objective or can’t reach it, it is the pressure points and chokes. If you already have the point or the carriage is yours, try to press the enemy team further on to keep them far from the objective, and if you don’t have it, if the other team is good, they will do the same. As a vanguard you will have to be there 99% of the time. You will learn this better with experience and map awareness. Be constantly dealing damage: usually it will be against other tanks, but not only. It is crucial that you also start engaging other characters and try to also aim at healers to scare them away so they can’t heal teammates or perhaps get a kill. Basically create chaos and constantly hit enemies, this will give your DPS space to kill and push. You are healer dependant: if your healer are competent, they will be close to you. Your job is to protect them. They will be giving you the heals, you protect them and apply damage. Without semi competent healer, your life will be a hell, and if you don’t protect them and they will die or be forced to retreat, you will die very fast since you will be the most targeted on the map. Kills ARE NOT YOUR PRIORITY! Your priority is to be a threat, apply pressure, be hitting non stop and kills will come natural. Only chase an enemy if he is very low and you can get him, and if you see you can’, retreat. Put yourself in the condition that healers can keep you alive easily. Know your hero: melee tanks are at disadvantage, period. Unfortunately, as a melee tank you will have to get in close and it will be hard for the healers since they will have to be very close to the enemy team. They are better usually at being a 2nd tank unless you are very good and so are your healers. USE PINGS! If you see an enemy flanking, ping it. If you need heals, ping it. If you have ultimate, ping it. Communication wins matches. If you need your team to retreat, ping it. As a tank you are usually the guide of the team since where you go, the healers will usually go, and the dps will keep it in mind, since they know that you will be creating the space and chance for them to secure kills. Sometimes it will be your fault, other times not. When it is not, just accept it and don’t flame excessively. For anyone having questions, let me know, and I hope this helps.
Tanks are the last thing you want to be hitting since they will just get healed, its a waste of cd. Unless its a dive. Otherwise target supports and dps.
@ honestly, I believe as a tank you should be hitting tanks, since most of the dps don’t have the power to take down a tank alone and they usually are the one trying to dive the healers. If the dps do a good job at diving the healers, they will distract them and you can take down the tanks. Unless you have a wolverine, hela, or Hawkeye that can deal heavy damage to tanks, you should be at least hitting them consistently and alternate it with hitting the healers to create openings, but if you don’t hit the tanks, the tanks are gonna try to hit your healers, and your healers will be forced to retreat, and you’ll have a bad time
If you use groots vine strike (primary) and furious flora (melee) intermittently it can deal obscene amounts of damage i think its like 360 damage per entire 3 strike combo plus whatever your walls are doing.
On Thor's bubble - it deals 40 damage to anyone who leaves, so drop it on a frontline and you're gonna get some nice supplemental damage on escaping targets. It also slows enemies by 15%, but this is negligible because of how small it is.
And that most important rule, please for the love of god protect me. I’m just a little white woman/black guy/sometimes play as the golden shirtless guy. I can’t heal you can kill the back liner simultaneously. I have to choose one and either choice will kill one of us.
Hulk exceeds at closing long dangerous angles and taking control of said angles. I’ve had pretty good success picking Hulk against a godlike Hela to shut her down, or at least take her attention. Just jump to those high angles, clap and exile, jump back to your team, rinse and repeat. Hela is at that angle? Great, beat the hell out of her, then back to the scheduled programming. Also as a Hulk player, you are the flyswatter for any flying characters. Too high up? Jump to a wall first for extra height. But get good at knocking those Iron Mans down. Nothing more satisfying.
I agree with you on most of the video, except on Peni tbh. I'm a Peni main and I use her on both attack and defense. Do they play slightly differently? Yeah, would I recommend it for your first tank not at all. But I've realized mostly it's around holding corners and throwing your mines into their backline and if you're cracked with your webs combine that and you kill them quick. Because the mines do 100 damage a piece, it's the drones (which are different than the mines) that only do 30 damage. You can have up to 15 mines out at a time so you can simultaneously protect healers with them and shoot them into their backline for a burst
I agree as a fellow Peni main. But I also understand that she can be rather squishy when a DPS really doesn't like you. Especially because her playstyle is that of a trap-door spider.
@@JebblesJunior yea, idk know if I'm a Peni main quite yet, but I strongly agree with op. Also yes punisher is most definitely a counter to her if said punisher is smart enough to keep his distance and turret up in harder to see locations.
@@JebblesJuniorI'm pretty sure a Bucky with Rockets infinite amo device is the highest dps in the game. The amount of times I've just melted Groot, haven't had the same experience on Peni though it's Hawkeye who's the devil there.
I'm a Vanguard main, but I've got a few tips here that I don't think I was incorporating into my gameplay. Thank you. Also, running into that issue as venom. Picked Groot up and messed up with walls pretty bad. I need to calm down.
as a groot, try to separate the tanks from the healers, summon walls behind them, and then beat them down. Just don't push too far and isolate yourself, a good groot can make their healers useless
The comments saying Peni isn’t good on attack is probably why plat of all things is 96% higher than most players. She’s amazing on attack. Major skill issue. Your Peni’s are just new, still learning or bad. Take space. Learn from the Asian servers. That’s why we’re always ahead in these games.
Penny is OK on attack, but there's just better options. As a Bucky player, she's right next to Groot in terms of tanks I can abuse as soon as she's in LOS.
As a Groot main, his ironwood wall has a passive that heals you based on the damage you and your teammates have dealt. Because of this, I like to hide my wall behind cover as a secondary healing source.
Same, I angle it flush where I think my team is going to be clustered up while contesting, maybe a *tiny* bit exposed if it'll give better cover. Me not dying means a constant stream of thorn walls and face tanking, which is waaay more valuable than the 2 seconds that wall will hold up to sustained fire.
Some more neat facts about Groot, from a Groot player: His smaller (thornlash) walls damage enemies within 5 meters of them as long as you deal damage to them, so you can use them as a backboard for your ult to drag enemies to it and then simply throw your seed bomb. His big (ironwood) wall gives you bonus health as long as you (or a teammate) are within 20 meters of it and deal damage to an enemy player. Put this up on a flank route to both deny flanking DPS and give yourself consistent shielding. He can have 3 total small walls up at once, always make sure to have one ready to be used as improvised cover.
I love being Hulk and just punching a Doctor Strange who has his shield up. He kind of just has to sit there and take it from me as I build my ult charge, because if he drops his shield my allies will shoot him.
Weird how i hear that cap isn't the tankiest yet he feels the tankiest to me. (With exception to Peni in her webs.) But i think thats becouse i quickly adapted to his playstyle, on the worst I'm super stalling and bouncing around the map waiting for my team to get back. At best I am sniping my teamates kills with shield throw and harrasing the enemy back to their spawn.
Something absolutely vital for strange is that he has a very slow attsck speed, and so he can weave in different actions. If you’re at long range, pop your shield up for a moment to reduce incoming damage. If you’re at close range, use your melee between shots to charge an extra 10% dark magic.
The problem I have is that I either have to turn my settings up so I can turn around and see what’s going on and miss every shot or leave them low and never see what’s going on behind me
Groot main here with some important tech. The big wall actually can heal you if you or teammates dmg enemies within a 20 or 10 m radius. Small wall can dmg people near it as well when you shoot it. So you generally wanna use the walls when you wanna aggressively deal damage and shit.
One of my two favorite experiences playing a Vanguard in this game came last Saturday. I was playing with a Couple friends, and I was Doctor Strange, I ended up with about 20 kills and 17 assists with only three deaths. And I wound up absorbing about 30 thousand damage, including Blocking an Iron Man and Scarlet Witch’s Ultimate. In the second round I’m thinking of I and my friend were both Vanguards with me mainly helping hold the point and my friend using Venom to harass the flanks with our third friend using Rocket’s mobility, buffs, and healing to keep everyone in the fight, even taking the time to kill a Moon Knight that was giving us trouble.
For Captain America, he's good at punishing solo flankers with that sprint. You can chase down out of position heroes really well. Other than that, pray that you have good Strategists on your team. You will literally live or die based on how good your Strategists are.
One of my favorite strats as magneto is bubbling our dive character/brawling tank while they’re disrupting the enemy push in order to both maximize the value they get (increased survivability of the disruptor + attacks from the rest of the team) and decrease the downtime on m2. It’s probably not the best strat but nothing’s more satisfying than mopping up what’s left of a bubbled Thor’s push with the rest of the team.
Magneto's primary fire also splashes when it hits a wall or the ground, so you can fire at people's feet when not at max range to get the splash effect as well.
thanks, man! i really wanted to try tanking, and this no-nonsense video where the dude calls every second character on the roster "fucker" and Magneto "magnet" taught me more about it than a bunch of try hard ranked guides
Shout out to thors F skill that you can use to bully flying enemies and opress sniper nests with while you have no enemy in dash range to rocket propell yourself at
Just randomly landed on this video and you really got it down well. The only think I noticed was hulk and strange teamup means strange never gets anti heal so he can hold it as long as he needs, also the range of his E matches his ult. And the Magento teamup with wanda is crazy, both tanks really benefit from a teamup. Both get at least 30% better.
I love Cap but he's really a good second Vanguard if you already have Thor. Cap thrives with a diving partner and his partner usually benefits from the team-up as well.
One thing I wanna mention for Peni, there is another thing you can use your web for. Cancelling somebody's ult, or breaking their ult midair. You can stun basically everybody without CC immunity, including another Peni in her ult, and if you have a Magneto rock flying at your forehead or an Iron Man maximum pulse barreling towards your team, you can literally just web it and it'll fizzle out meters from impact
Groots big wall gives him bonus health when attacking enemy’s around it, the small ones do damage. He’s pretty fun to play but almost impossible to do anything if you’re running 4 DPS
As a peewee main, she can be useful on attack by using her mine cluster to hold down angles with some cover and elevation until the payload moves past her. Then you can reposition to the next vantage point and continue. Shes also good to have your offensive supports on your webs to help protect them from dive characters. She might not have the capability to push forward, but she can make damn sure that the enemy team wont push you back
Good Peni tip that doesn't make her useless is that her snare right click can cancel certain ults if you time them properly. You can stop Strange's ult, you can even snare the pulse charge but I have yet to see that in game
Peni's non-tether web is also fantastic for knocking an enemy out of their ultimate. It will immediately shut down Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, Punisher, and a lot more.
Btw you can attack cancel the primary fire with the melee on Venom for increased DPS up close, just be sure to let all four projectiles fire before using the melee
This video is simple and even though I’m many into the game I still found it useful I do not understand why this channel doesn’t get the attention and views it deserves tho
Idk if someone commented this already but you can cancel the reload animation on strange with his shield and if you time it right it speeds up your reload
Pushing with Peni is actually very possible. Just place your nest as close to enemies as possible, preferably behind cover. Then you make space just by watching your drones harass the other team. In the meantime you throw mines where the enemies will most likely escape to. You got them in your web.
Ngl I was about to watch this. Realized im already gm and probably dont need a beginner guild to vanguard. And still watched it because even learning one thing helpful can be a huge advantage 😅, i need a life 😔
You forget to tell how the groot walls work, the green ones do damage to enemies near them whem you hit someone and the big red one heals you everytime a enemie takes damage inside a radius around you and the wall
nmeZero776. this is great Venom gameplay. also note that, though Venom's main attack reaches kinda far, and like, around people that are RIGHT UP ON YOU. you'll get a hit or 2 when they're that close, but Venom's best at about mid range, and even striking targets behind the tank in your face! Swing, meteor, tether, ult. the ult gives you more movement and puts the other guys in an animation as they get thrown, this gives your tether the time it needs to do it's full damage before they can think to get out of range. smg the weak ones on the way down, shield up, then swing away to get a better look, and meteor where you think you're needed. i also like to get on the walls and watch enemies go by, then pounce from behind.
A tip for Peni, outside of finding cheeky spots to put mines outside of the enemy spawn on defense against convoy, make sure you use her ult while on your spidernest stuff. Those spidersdrones are ride or die and will come with you on the web you put down with your ult. That being said, always be sure to be aware of your surrounding and the enemy team comp. We held down a point in competitive, it was the wakanda convoy map. They didn't even cap the starting point because I and the supports held the site and took defensive positions as our duelists poked the enemy down and lured them in for the kills. They never changed their strategy of just staggering deaths. When it came time for us to attack, I knew the ememy Peni wanted to mirror. Intead of playing into that, my team came out of spawn to engage, our venom came out swinging. In all of that, I swapped to strange, ported in and brought the rest of my team to point while venom kept them busy. It won't work at all levels, but let me enjoy bronze for a bit more.
As Hulk I will be on the front line a majority of the time. I'll always have a jump prepped to hop into the enemy back line or our back line if the enemy dives us, but my priority is shielding allies and peeling for them with the stun, not being an arguably minor threat to their healers. Had a match recently where I saved 2+ allies from three Iron Man ults in the same match. There are times where I will do a lot of back and forth jumping but a good enemy team will punish you with CC and focus fire if you just do it all the time. I spend a lot of time just punching their tanks back.
Thank you so much for this video, it has greatly helped me in becoming a more competent player and allowed me to have some truly great matches as Venom
There’s a really good groot tutorial out there if people want to play him. The gist of it is to keep your ironwood wall nearby but out of the way. You don’t want it to be soaking any damage. It gives you bonus health when you attack, so you want it up as long as possible Use the thornlash exactly as he said here- use it as a backboard to your attacks, it increases your damage output massively, and cuts them off from their healers. The grenade and your ult should always be used in tandem with your thornlash walls. Your mediocre ult turns into a team wiper with good wall placement and a grenade
im watching because i havent been able to play who i want for the last few days and have been forced into vanguard by my instalocking teammates. however the puerto rican in me is rejoicing
Thor hammer throws are excellent damage when u use them as animations cancels for ur primary hammer bash, u can melt even tanks pretty quickly if u combine both primary hits and hammer throws, the only downside being you’re left without a hammer to dash out of engagements
Groots smaller walls are 110% WWE cage match machines but his big wall that gives health should never be in the enemies LOS. Also keep in around the corner but still in his passive range. That 700 health means nother to the enimes DPS, but that extra sustanded health will win fights.
As someone who mains Magneto, a few foot notes for anyone who wants to play 1. Bubbles are not invincible. They will break after enough damage is pumped into them. But the last attack that breaks them will be negated. So if you get blasted by something heavy hitting like say, Scarlet Witch's ult, the bubble will break but the person inside will take no damage 2. Don't be afraid to launch mag-cannon at low charge. Sometimes you just need that attack at 2 or even 1 charge. In fact, it has substantially longer range than his base fire, so you could use it to pick off a low health enemy that's just outside of your range 3. Knockback of mag-cannon is pretty useful. I know I just said that it doesn't need to be at full charge, but that knockback could help the team by separating an enemy from the group like a healer or push someone away that is causing problems to you or an ally 4. The second shield that he holds up is very good. It might not stay up forever like Strange's but it has a short cooldown. And it's really good as a second way to deny big damage if either your ult's not charged or it's something that can't be absorbed like Scarlet Witch's ult. Pop that damn thing on the front lines as often as possible 5. Magneto's ult is not made to do damage like Duelists. It's meant to deny damage, especially projectile-based attacks ones like Iron Man or Punisher's ults. I've saved entire teams multiple times in a single match by keeping an ear out for Iron Man's ult. Taking out an enemy or two is just icing on the cake And this last one isn't mandatory, but the team-up with Scarlet Witch is mind-numbingly fun. I swear to god, I've out-damaged and killed Duelists using that damn sword alongside my natural tanking abilities. He is the backbone to any push
Strange can deal much faster damage when switching in close Combat between Melee (V) and left click (shooting) and then destroy squishies around with a FULLY charged E Ability. Launch yourself by flying up and then use your Portals (You won‘t fall while casting Portals but afterwards. Why is that good to know? Jeff, Spider-Man, Invisible Woman and more can‘t push you off the Map since you cast a Portal mid air 😂) anyways once you fall into your Portal you will fly out the other Portal making it perfect for a surprise attack with Ult. Use Eye of Agamotto Ult to destroy Healers first with the first tech I told y‘all. Peni‘s Spiders can follow her nets on floors, walls and ceilings to deal a lot of chip damage. Make sure to spam her E as a passive aoe damage. Also a good tip I can give y‘all is placing the Mines on Carts you‘re trying to move or stop because it‘s pretty much obvious where the enemies will want to stand around and secure… the Cart/Objective. Movement tip: use the Spider Nest (Shift) to get a speed boost and when you walked to the end of it‘s net use your net (F) to move fast forward and while you swing remove the Nest and place it again and repeat because removing an undamaged Nest doesn’t give you a Cooldown. Ult Tip: When you Ult with Peni she will not only gain her extra shields like she always does on her nets. Her Spiders from the Nest will also follow the nets she lays wherever she walkes. Make sure to spam your Arachnide Mines on the area you want to secure and if you are out of mines make sure to understand the Situation: Either push with your Team using left click (hitting enemies pushing them into the air) or retreat to a safe space. You can plant Nets with every Ability and get a Max Shield and passive healing of 800HP. Bungee jumping into a Strange Portal works well to quickly set up and retreat for shielding and go back in. (I haven‘t tested this yet and neither if you can ULT while being connected to a Net.)
To add my two cents: Penni Parker is actually good on Attack, just think about her in a different way: the mine field is to help cover your supports from divers. Lay your nest in areas you want your strategists to be in. The mines give great peel and cover with their nuking damage. Use your tether web to keep yourself topped off as webbing heals. If you think of Venom as Tanky Spiderman: he has a lot of mobility. Crawl around as much as you can to get some distance and use your dive bomb attack when off cooldown often. You are very mobil, save your swing if you need to disengage early. Your melee cancels from your tendrils, make sure all 4 launch from your back before swinging to optomize dos time. Your autos also have a huge hit box.
Peni main here. I actually love attacking with her. The 3s cooldown for her Web Snare is great and if you have a competent team, you can kill an enemy very fast. I always make sure to unload all the mines I have cause the limit is high at 15 mines if you have so many placed around a map, and say if I have someone pushing or 1v1ing me, I can multitask and put mines right under them. That’s the benefit I found with using a controller with paddles in the back. Super easy to multitask with a character like Peni Being smart with your smart nest placement is key for a fast and effective attack, it provides healing and if someone tries to push you, the spider drones can easily take them out. Also the less the damage on her nest and if you purposely break it so you can place it on a new spot has a much shorter cooldown (as low as 3s compared to 12s if someone takes it out. That way for a Convoy game mode, I can maintain being next to the objective while effectively having heals and being able to protect the objective.
I had a lot of fun playing vanguard, especially when the strategists are top notch. Sadly, when you play a game with more duelists than the other roles combined there isn't much you can do.
Im regards to Thors hammer throw, if i am not mistaken, if the hammer throw hits someone, you get back 1thorforce(hammer), so the idea is to always use this in melee range since it's cd is very low and deals a good amount of damage. Plus it's really hard to hit enemies at a range with it, since it has travel time.
8:39 As a Rocket main, I use Groot's shoulder for movement. Its a quick teleport you can use to escape melee fighters. And you can rocket straight off of him and dash across a wall. Fred *could* use it simarly, but why would he?
A thing I like to do as Thor is to do a m1 then quickly do a m2 to add on some extra damage it REALLY helps Thor do great damage and also helps with sustain, though at times it may be best to do shift instead if someone is actively running from you. also tend to use your f VERY SPARINGLY as it essentially reduces your survivability as you are not constantly gaining shield from using your shift or m2, use it to do things such as to pick off running supports or just throw down at the enemy team after you finish off their tank and are trying to regroup. Also how the dome as I call it works is that it doesn't give thorforce(hammer) based on people in it but instead based on if they are hit by it and how you are hit by it is by leaving the circle, not going into it but leaving it which does damage to them and gives your thorforce.
Peni tip - when you wanna ult, let your nest build up its spider bots an ult from the nest webs. That way you get more spider bots running around to anyone who ends up on your new webs. But yes. She's an anti-dive, area denial tank. I recommend not insta locking her at low elo unless you see another tank. I've gotten to the point where I have to learn a 2nd tank ... because if I pick peni and my team thinks that they can go 1-4-1 because "we have a tank now!" I'm just gonna swap to SG and chill. Low elo players don't know what she does and will expect you to jump into 4 people as peni and suck up dmg.
Today my Thor got a Hulk teammate, omg we bullied their team soooo hard they are still crying.Somehow without coms we would randomly charge the same target. That poor DrStrange....
I play cap with my friends and I try to kill the healers but they seem to think my job is to just stand in front of them with my shield up. It’s very frustrating because the enemy team never dies and their healers die once or twice because they think that’s how the game is posed to be played
Groots walls also activate on allies shooting enemies too, they also can hit multiple targets not just one, also if you have all three walls in a corner/box around an enemy all three can one tap a squishy; you’ll rarely see this but Groot does the most damage out of the tanks.
For Dr. Strange mains, portal is best used when you just lost objective, and you want to get your whole team there at once. not to mention, if you want to synergize with other characters' ultimates. Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Punisher, and Jeff are my favorites to portal with their ultimates

Try out to deflect Iron Man's ult as Captain, it turns his ult into yours which is giga hilarious. And yes, you can kill him that way if you get lucky

I'm a fighting game player and my favourite archetype is rushdown. You can't just tell me to calm down. I will play Venom.
It’s in our blood.
Always💪
A key tip for Hulk is to turn off the 'Hold to Activate Incredible Leap' setting, switching it to a toggle. This lets you click once to charge the jump fully and click again to execute it. Useful for disengaging in combat
How do I do this on Xbox
You go into settings like with every game
@@MichaelBecerra-l3o should be in your character specific settings
This i agree.
Venom has so much mobility for a tank it’s actually broken. All I do every match is swing in, catch the healer, press shield if enemy takes me down to 400 health and then swing back to team if I failed 😂
Works great until they have both an Mantis and a Luna Snow that stun you until you're dead.
Exactly why you dont swing in, you wallrun up a wall, then use your dive to go in, then swing out. Whenever possible. Which is actually most of the time, its a good loop with dive dps
@@sleepypanda8634 i like to mix it up because sometimes wall running up is gonna take too much time depending on the area we're in
@SnowRabbit-bq5yc thats fair, its mostly just in higher ranks people will start punishing you for not being able to leave at a moments notice (diamond+)
he's literally just a Wrecking Ball from Overwatch type character but actually good and a bit closer ranged. Both fun, but wrecking ball was kinda ass while venom rocks
If you hit hammer throw and immediately hit your primary fire it will do an animation cancel for big damage
A good combo is storm surge melee until you get your abilities back hammer throw animation cancel
( also buff Captain America)
Reverse the order for the actual anim cancel - melee to hammer throw. Remember also that if you miss your hammer throw, it needs to return to your hand before you can start attacking with it again.
Your dash should only be full charged as an initiator or a gap close finisher during a chase. The extra damage and range is negligible compared to immediately generated 100THP and moving into melee contact for pressure.
@@qrangejuice8225 Was gonna say this. It's a 3 hit combo starting with primary fire, not hammer lol.
As a peni main, she can be great on attack, you have to take up a seige mentality over a castle up one though.
Push up, emplace, push off the enemy, rinse and repeat.
She's not the best at attack/aggro but she's not shit at attack either.
It's not a race. It's a marathon.
[Which is pretty f'ed up.]
Even a jeff can literally kidnap you while ulting which is ridiculous.
@@cookiewithlove2081you can also block the nest with your body to keep it alive as long as possible
Id love to one trick hulk but cant hes banned to much 😢
@sleepypanda8634 Yep, same happened to me. I one-tricked him until plat, then had to learn Magneto and Venom due to the ban-rate.
@manudetodo all I read was the 500 winston hours will finally have value!
Hey I was fighting against Hulk just there as Thor and he picked me up and smashed me like in that scene in Avengers. How do that?
@@raulpetrascu2696 he has another ult that does that when in monster hulk form
Plus, you can literally use the cart as cover for your spider nest.
i spam the web grapple a bunch but i just use it to get free overhealing wherever i'm fighting
Yeah. Penni is excellent area denial.
Here are some tips as someone who just hit gold I in a relative
amount of time maining Strange as Vanguard main:
Your goal is to hold the pressure points in the map.
^this
anytime i play groot that trick lands me too many KOs on people that dont expect it and get wayyyy to close to me
On Thor's bubble - it deals 40 damage to anyone who leaves, so drop it on a frontline and you're gonna get some nice supplemental damage on escaping targets. It also slows enemies by 15%, but this is negligible because of how small it is.
It slows by 30%
The slow is useful on supports with high movement speed as it keeps them from kiting you
I've always wanted to get into vanguard classes, now It should be easier.
I like playing lore accurate cap’n merica by giving the enemy supports “the dark alley in Brooklyn” treatment
I havent seen more than 2 hela in almost 50 games 😂.
@ weird isolated experience. Everyone else sees her every other game and she bangs out 30+ elims
Worst things about Captain America is him lecturing Punisher whenever he gets a kill streak or just because "That's a weapon of war, Castle!"
Me as Cap when see his turret:
😅🛡 wanna hug?
I agree with you on most of the video, except on Peni tbh. I'm a Peni main and I use her on both attack and defense. Do they play slightly differently? Yeah, would I recommend it for your first tank not at all.
But I've realized mostly it's around holding corners and throwing your mines into their backline and if you're cracked with your webs combine that and you kill them quick. Because the mines do 100 damage a piece, it's the drones (which are different than the mines) that only do 30 damage. You can have up to 15 mines out at a time so you can simultaneously protect healers with them and shoot them into their backline for a burst
My proficiency as a Bucky main definitely influences my opinion. Her and Groot look like the lamb in the T-Rex exhibit from Jurassic Park to me.

I'm finna come get stomped on y'all servers
Penny is OK on attack, but there's just better options. As a Bucky player, she's right next to Groot in terms of tanks I can abuse as soon as she's in LOS.
@@JebblesJunior she also gets farmed for ult charge by enemy Hawkeyes and helas
As a Groot main, his ironwood wall has a passive that heals you based on the damage you and your teammates have dealt. Because of this, I like to hide my wall behind cover as a secondary healing source.
Same, I angle it flush where I think my team is going to be clustered up while contesting, maybe a *tiny* bit exposed if it'll give better cover. Me not dying means a constant stream of thorn walls and face tanking, which is waaay more valuable than the 2 seconds that wall will hold up to sustained fire.
Some more neat facts about Groot, from a Groot player:
His smaller (thornlash) walls damage enemies within 5 meters of them as long as you deal damage to them, so you can use them as a backboard for your ult to drag enemies to it and then simply throw your seed bomb.
Strange main here. Melee characters are the bane of my existence. Wolverine and magik especially
(With exception to Peni in her webs.)
But i think thats becouse i quickly adapted to his playstyle, on the worst I'm super stalling and bouncing around the map waiting for my team to get back. At best I am sniping my teamates kills with shield throw and harrasing the enemy back to their spawn.
I think what you feel is him being the most mobile of the brawlers. They can't hit what they can't catch.
He’s survivable but not necessarily tanky
Something absolutely vital for strange is that he has a very slow attsck speed, and so he can weave in different actions. If you’re at long range, pop your shield up for a moment to reduce incoming damage. If you’re at close range, use your melee between shots to charge an extra 10% dark magic.

Groot main here with some important tech. The big wall actually can heal you if you or teammates dmg enemies within a 20 or 10 m radius. Small wall can dmg people near it as well when you shoot it. So you generally wanna use the walls when you wanna aggressively deal damage and shit.
I confess, I’ve had the most fun playing Vanguards in this game.
i cant unsee or unhear that hes not captain america. but captain puerto rico. thank you. he is our national figure.
Not only was this super informative but it was also a great laugh. That Athena line when you described Cap's ult had me dying
A good captain america is a problem. A demon from hell😂
Fr.
Groot combi ive seen is wall up, shoot ult against it, then right mouse, left mouse. Them receiving damage activates the walls damage outpoot
Agreed. I play both Thor and Cap but if I'm solo tanking 100% Thor is the way. Cap is off tank.
Cap needs a major damage bufd, 35/hit is fucking criminal
I just started using groot this new way you explained and I shredded a bucky in like two seconds. I see what you mean now. Great video!
6:21 Puerto Rico mentioned! Let's goooo! I'm watching from PR lmao, I play Ironman, though. Vanguard is my least played role I'd say. Dope video
Coming from someone who mains Hulk in Vanguard, Peni players are an absolute pain to deal with because nobody shoots her nest in Diamond😭
Thank you so much for this.
I needed to be sure I was playing cap correctly.
And I do needed insight on other tanks to be more helpful.
Groots big wall gives him bonus health when attacking enemy’s around it, the small ones do damage. He’s pretty fun to play but almost impossible to do anything if you’re running 4 DPS
I am a Magnet main. Thank you for the video!
This video is simple and even though I’m many into the game I still found it useful
I do not understand why this channel doesn’t get the attention and views it deserves tho
I want Green goblin and night crawler added to the game
Thank you so much for this video, it has greatly helped me in becoming a more competent player and allowed me to have some truly great matches as Venom
Mighty fine, you've got a real knack for guides!
There’s a really good groot tutorial out there if people want to play him.
The gist of it is to keep your ironwood wall nearby but out of the way. You don’t want it to be soaking any damage. It gives you bonus health when you attack, so you want it up as long as possible
Use the thornlash exactly as he said here- use it as a backboard to your attacks, it increases your damage output massively, and cuts them off from their healers.
The grenade and your ult should always be used in tandem with your thornlash walls. Your mediocre ult turns into a team wiper with good wall placement and a grenade
The name of the channel is @coolguygames if anyone wants the whole video
One thing about Peni I didn't see, you can use her webs to extend her spiderbot's range
I do press the enemies, especially their healers.
My teammates: why are you not killing?
Me: so you can kill them easier 🙈
13:08 OH NO...oh im alive somehow owo *flies to safety*
im watching because i havent been able to play who i want for the last few days and have been forced into vanguard by my instalocking teammates.
however the puerto rican in me is rejoicing
Love pushing the entire time only for my team to be 5000 miles away doing god knows what
Thor hammer throws are excellent damage when u use them as animations cancels for ur primary hammer bash, u can melt even tanks pretty quickly if u combine both primary hits and hammer throws, the only downside being you’re left without a hammer to dash out of engagements
Groots smaller walls are 110% WWE cage match machines but his big wall that gives health should never be in the enemies LOS. Also keep in around the corner but still in his passive range. That 700 health means nother to the enimes DPS, but that extra sustanded health will win fights.
on Magnet's Ult: it breaks when the meter in the center reaches 100. Keep an eye on it and launch when it's close and you're gucci
As someone who mains Magneto, a few foot notes for anyone who wants to play
1. Bubbles are not invincible. They will break after enough damage is pumped into them. But the last attack that breaks them will be negated. So if you get blasted by something heavy hitting like say, Scarlet Witch's ult, the bubble will break but the person inside will take no damage
2. Don't be afraid to launch mag-cannon at low charge. Sometimes you just need that attack at 2 or even 1 charge. In fact, it has substantially longer range than his base fire, so you could use it to pick off a low health enemy that's just outside of your range
3. Knockback of mag-cannon is pretty useful. I know I just said that it doesn't need to be at full charge, but that knockback could help the team by separating an enemy from the group like a healer or push someone away that is causing problems to you or an ally
4. The second shield that he holds up is very good. It might not stay up forever like Strange's but it has a short cooldown. And it's really good as a second way to deny big damage if either your ult's not charged or it's something that can't be absorbed like Scarlet Witch's ult. Pop that damn thing on the front lines as often as possible
5. Magneto's ult is not made to do damage like Duelists. It's meant to deny damage, especially projectile-based attacks ones like Iron Man or Punisher's ults. I've saved entire teams multiple times in a single match by keeping an ear out for Iron Man's ult. Taking out an enemy or two is just icing on the cake
And this last one isn't mandatory, but the team-up with Scarlet Witch is mind-numbingly fun. I swear to god, I've out-damaged and killed Duelists using that damn sword alongside my natural tanking abilities. He is the backbone to any push
It’s funny to see people shit on Peni when she has the second highest win rate in the game after Hela
You just made this up. She is seventh across all ranks and it's because of bronze players.
@ I didn’t, it’s straight from the official rankings
As a groot main, my main job is to separate the healers from the tanks and then the dps target whoever
The first 3 minutes explained why I love Wolverine in this game. Been playing him day 1 specifically to counter tanks
To add my two cents:
Penni Parker is actually good on Attack, just think about her in a different way: the mine field is to help cover your supports from divers.
5 mins in and I love the way you talk 😂 great vid and 100% accurate on the Cap
Magneto can put out some serious damage once you master his primary fire
Peni main here. I actually love attacking with her. The 3s cooldown for her Web Snare is great and if you have a competent team, you can kill an enemy very fast. I always make sure to unload all the mines I have cause the limit is high at 15 mines if you have so many placed around a map, and say if I have someone pushing or 1v1ing me, I can multitask and put mines right under them. That’s the benefit I found with using a controller with paddles in the back. Super easy to multitask with a character like Peni
Being smart with your smart nest placement is key for a fast and effective attack, it provides healing and if someone tries to push you, the spider drones can easily take them out.

As a Rocket main, I use Groot's shoulder for movement.
"Magnet" triggered me.
If i die is strategist fault, noted
You talk like a character from The Venture Bros. and I love that shit subbed
Thanks for the vid! Trying to learn magnet
I play cap with my friends and I try to kill the healers but they seem to think my job is to just stand in front of them with my shield up. It’s very frustrating because the enemy team never dies and their healers die once or twice because they think that’s how the game is posed to be played
i thought you replayed the clip where you knock the magneto off a cliff but he literally fell for that twice
It's worse. He did three times.
Groots walls also activate on allies shooting enemies too, they also can hit multiple targets not just one, also if you have all three walls in a corner/box around an enemy all three can one tap a squishy; you’ll rarely see this but Groot does the most damage out of the tanks.
Rule 1: THANK YOU FOR SAYING IT !!! Vanguards need to learn this, especially venom mains !!
For Dr. Strange mains, portal is best used when you just lost objective, and you want to get your whole team there at once. not to mention, if you want to synergize with other characters' ultimates. Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Punisher, and Jeff are my favorites to portal with their ultimates
