So basically we need to convert to a compatible format, edit it as our actual files, and at the ending, we relink to hi quality video before exporting the project. Nice trick, thank you :P

I’m a newbie. I have Lumix s1 and Ninja V. If I shoot in prores 422 LT can I use that directly to edit in Davinci Resolve? I have MacBook Pro.
I tried to follow your steps but the transcoding never started. I had to change the script, replacing "DO ffmpeg" with the full path where ffmpeg is located.
In my case it had to be "DO H:\Programs\FFMPEG\bin\ffmpeg".
I hope this might help someone facing this problem. Thank you for this tutorial!
to get it to call ffmpeg without the application path, instructions in the primer video with here: ua-cam.com/video/2yYmqPLWBG0/v-deo.html at the 7:50 mark, add the path to environmental variables.

Secondly, I did add the path to the environment variables list, but did not work.
@@A.Lamprou that’s odd, might be due to the path in H? Not sure. Great that it works, my inner ADHD has to have a really clean looking script 😄
@@CharlieVN @A. Lamprou - I had the same Issue A.Lamprous fix worked. Did the path and everything like you suggested Guy but I guess it depends on windows version and admin rights.

3:30 are you files recognized as proxies inside of davinci? If not how do "swap them out" as you say here?
Didnt get, if my free version of DavinciResolve imports, reads and plays the Log (10bit) file, does it mean that its not a true 10bit thing? Does the freeDavRes treat it as a ordinary 8bit file? Thanks!

Is the video converterd to 8bit prores or 10bit prores?
I havent tried it with 8 bit, but 10 bit h264/h265 will yield 10 bit prores. Used it recently with 4K 120p 10 bit, and playback works fine, no problems.
prores is 10 bit only
