  • In tonight’s tops tory: Countries at the COP28 conference have agreed to "transition away" from fossil fuels. The deal is billed as historic, but critics say it falls short of what needs to be done to avert the climate crisis. Heather Yourex-West reports on the details of the agreement and the wide range of reactions.
Over in the Middle East, Israel's war on Hamas has displaced nearly everybody in the Gaza Strip, where essential supplies and safe spaces are harder to find. Crystal Goomansingh looks at how the weather is making displacement camps even more intolerable and the growing uncertainty of the solution to Gaza's dire humanitarian crisis.
And, Canada's decision to vote in favour of a United Nations resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict and the unconditional release of all hostages is being both praised and condemned. David Akin explains how this has created new divisions within the federal Liberal caucus and why some members are not worried.
Plus, True North Sports and Entertainment - the company that owns the Winnipeg Jets - and 34 First Nations are collaborating on a plan to revitalize Winnipeg's downtown core. Melissa Ridgen explains what will happen to the former Hudson's Bay Company building, the nearly empty Portage Place shopping mall and when the project is set to be complete.
Over on Canada’s east coast, Dr. Gerges Ambarak is calling out racism in Newfoundland and Labrador's school system, after his daughter was attacked. Heidi Petracek explains how Dr. Ambarak's viral online post has sparked calls for action and a flood of support for him and his family.
And, when Palestinians need to be transported to hospitals in Israel, they often get help from Israeli volunteers through the charity Road to Recovery. While the organization no longer operates in the Gaza Strip, due to Israel's war on Hamas, it is still helping Palestinians in the West Bank. Daniele Hamamdjian spoke with some Road to Recovery members to learn what drives them to keep going.
