    Many content creators who give beauty advice based on features end up giving higher value to some features and looks than others... i like how Jenn seems to keep a very neutral commentary on the various features, just looking towards balance rather than concealing one feature or another as if it were a problem

    Dakota J. looks so pretty with bangs, completely different vibe. Actually all your examples look better with bangs! Maybe young Carla Gugino looked pretty without bangs despite the fact that she's got a open forehead with square hairline, but she had an overall voluptuous baby face

    • @stylemejenn
      @stylemejenn  Рік тому +1

      I think Carla Gugino looks great with or without bangs!! Like you said she has a voluptuous face so when she wears bangs I think it makes her look a bit younger since our eyes are more drawn to her cheeks area, and when she doesn’t have bangs it elongates her face more and makes her look more elegant, even though our eyes are slightly drawn to her forehead a bit more ☺️ Such a good example that it all depends on our preference and the image that we want to portray! ❤️

    Omg the whole thirds of a face length thing is so enlightening. I couldn't understand why I looked so good with blunt bangs even though I have a round face. Everytime I get blunt bangs, I'd surprised myself because I was so into the idea that round face can't have blunt bangs or full bangs at all. It's dumb, I know, but we're somewhat indoctrinated to those usual hard fast rules that we forget that everyone is original and a spectrum of something. Thank you for this video!

    Im currently surfing through your videos one by one and WOW! I learned so so muchhh! I have slightly wide eyebrows with slightly shorter chin. I always wondered why I look good with medium-thin sideswept bangs that partially cover my brows, but look suffocating with straight bangs (made my face too short) and look grumpy with long side bang (now you can see half of my wide eyebrows). 😂 gotta try to use makeup to draw them closer too!

      If you have a long oval face with little prominence short baby bangs might be a good style for you, especially if you have really big and prominent eyes like Krysten Ritter! Or I would recommend thin see-through bangs to cover the hairline but draw less attention to the nose area ☺️

    I got my bangs to hide my widow's peak and bc i wondered how it would look on me (i got it during the lockdown lol) but turns out the hiding the eyebrow shape factor is the real reason why it suits me. My face shape is oval with almost no cheekbones and very rounded jawline and my thirds are proportionate. Unfortunately my hairdresser messed up my bangs a little and I'm growing it out :( anyways love your videos.

      I'm glad you're enjoying my videos! It may sound unusual but changing the shape of your natural brows can be a trick to add dimension to your oval face! Doesn't always work if you have strong brow bones but it is definitely possible. I'm creating a series on brows this week and next week so stay tuned ❤

      This is a bit off topic, but a widow's peak (despite the name) is actually a wonderful feature in Chinese face reading. It can be a sign of being very creatively gifted, or maybe psychic.
      Sometimes they are hard to cover up as the hair wants to separate at the peak as well.

    This video is amazing, thank you for sharing these infromation!
    I have a similar face to Dakotas, (very) large forhead and long face - though I think my face is more square shaped with my cheekbones being smiliarly as wide as my yaw.
    Therefore I am really considering getting bands.
    The only thing I am still wondering about is, if my haircolor (I am blond) changes anything about the visuals of the bangs combinded with my face. Additionally my eyebrows are not visible due to their color :') Additionally my hair is more on the thiner sinde and has not that much volume (no curls or waves).
    Do you have any advice for me? That would help me a lot!

    • @stylemejenn
      @stylemejenn  5 місяців тому +1

      I would suggest a thin / wispy style of curtain bangs leaving a few strands in the middle but most strands along the sides to cover the sides of your hairline / forehead! Have the length of the bangs around or slightly below eyebrows so you can cover the eyebrow area (and the fact that they're not very visible). Make sure to use a thin layer of hair to create this style if you naturally have thin hair!

    Great videos Jenn, Thanks❣If you can spare the time: How do you decide how far back on your crown to start your bangs? Does the shape of your forehead make a difference re: how far back you start them, and whether you separate the crown hair w/the point of an inverted V, horizontal line, or other shapes? & also how can thinning them by cutting into them vertically, intermittently make a helpful difference? Thanks very much🙃

    • @stylemejenn
      @stylemejenn  3 місяці тому

      I think what matters more in determining how much hair to use for your bangs / how far back you should start them is the height of your cranial top! If you have a low cranial top, using too much hair can make the style look awkward :)

    When I was a kid, we were sort of obligated to have bold bangs. Perhaps, it was a trend in early 90-s. I literally hated them. When I grew up and grew my bang making it disappear, I've realized that I hated those bangs because they are not even close to be good for my facial features. And later it started to look even better when after the age of 25 or something my hair turned from golden-ashy fair, almost blonde, to dark caramel brown and all my front hair became 3B curly after being almost straight all my life before that.

      @@stylemejenn It is very common for a blonde kid to grow up into a dark haired adult. I didn't know that when I was small, but I didn't like my fair hair and wanted it to turn dark so much. So, genes did their magic.

  • @cathwalsh9921

    I think I have the hourglass or peanut shaped face. I have a square jawline but my cheekbones are my widest part and the top of my head a little narrower. I’ve never fit into any of the face shapes until now. I’m starting to think a fringe suits me more to an having my face exposed but wonder if that’s too much covering my face. The other thing is that I wear sunscreen so think my fringe will get oily quickly from it.

    • @stylemejenn
      @stylemejenn  10 місяців тому +1

      If you have wide cheekbones, rather than blunt bangs curtain bangs / see-through bangs would appear more natural for you! Agreed with the sunscreen comment though - when I used to have bangs I would wash just my bangs daily lol.

      Hi - thank you for the comment!
      Actually this theory comes from Asian beauty standards. They actually call this face shape the “peanut” shape, but I used the term “hourglass” because there’s a lot of negative associations with having a peanut-shape face in Asian beauty standards, which I think doesn’t make sense!! Try googling “peanut face shape” and you should be able to find some info. 🙂 Hope that helps!!

    I'd love to cover my high forehead, but I have a very square jawline. Bangs would emphasise that, in that there are two horizontal lines across the face. I'd look like a transformer! 😂😂

    • @stylemejenn
      @stylemejenn  Рік тому

      If you combine bangs with a hair length and style that brings less emphasis to the jawline, bangs could still work for you! :) I would recommend curtain bangs over blunt bangs since the emphasis that curtain bangs bring to your lower face is far less harsh than a blunt style of bangs

    • @stylemejenn

      Hi! Thanks for the comment :) Oval faces have the advantage of being able to pull off a wide range of styles so you are lucky! But if you have a long middle third, I suggest staying away from bangs because covering your forehead with bangs will draw more attention to your middle third and can accentuate your middle third more. Hope that helps!

      @@SofiaCalotti Yes- curtain bangs or side bangs that expose a part of the forehead would definitely be better!! Short bangs could also work if you have a long top third, but they tend to add a certain "eccentric" image to your look which not everyone is suited for. Also for Zoey's case her eyebrows need to be somewhat covered, so short bangs above the brows wouldn't work for her! So it really depends on the case :)
