Hope everyone enjoys this one! I put a lotttttt into this! Awesome tips, advice, and lessons to be learned in each level...and it should apply to any genre, any skill level!
Another awesome tutorial! Must give Zack credit for being not just a great producer, a great teacher and content creator. Lots of value delivered in the best form! Easy to understand & enjoyable to watch. Thank you!
After watching this... I went back and listened to my songs and all my drums sound like shiiiit 😂😂😂... Thanks you for sharing your knowledge 🏆🏆🏆🏆🕺🏽🕺🏽🕺🏽🕺🏽
hey i learned a new trick with the lfo from you i learned so much i have to go back to my tracks and use these tricks i don't make edm but these tricks still helped me
Anyone affraid of the length on this one: I've watched an embarrassing amount on this subject. This one has a lot of tips and insights I haven't seen in other videos on this topic.. The pace is quick and the explanations are concise. It's kept light with some humor and what you learn is broken down in a S.M.A.R.T way to make them easier to implement and maintain. How many vids have you watched like that lately?
Just wanted to say after watching a few of your videos I really appreciate how direct you are and skip out on all the “fluff” like I see in many other videos.
I know I"m super super late on the commenting on this video, but, this has been crazy helpful!! Just signed up with you guys and I am incredibly excited to start learning directly from ya'll!!
Bro, 10/10 would recommend. Been at a point where my sound design and songs flow but the drums are holding me back. Your concise way of explaining speaks volumes to your knowledge. Content is fire af, keep it up ❤
Hey dude, I just want to say THANK YOU for putting this one out for free! Drums are IMO the most important component of a dance track with the bassline, if existent, as a close second. Because they actually make people move! So this tutorial provides SO much value for us not yet professional producers ;) Also: where is your dog at ? Is he maybe the secret producer behind the whole video ?
Your video is incredibly useful! I'm really happy that UA-cam had recommended me your channel! In the video of making animals Martin Garrix said that he is always changing the little transitions in his tracks to make his music sound more interesting. And as I see, nowadays producers stopped making that things. I mean, if you'll listen to some old grx tracks like tremor, animals, wizard, project t remix (I take his music as a good example), you will notice a lot of things like tonnel sounds, sweeps, big snares, snare rolls and synths which are grabbing your attention to make you feel interested during the listening. If you have some ideas about it, it would be great to hear from you! I hope, I'll see a lot of great videos on your channel!❤
Wow! Super generous of you. Made notes and thanks to your capacity to speak and explain details so clearly, I understand everything. Thank you! Now to practice so that this stuff becomes a habit...
Thankyou so much, entirely grateful for all the details and tid bits you had to teach and share. I was actually searching out this video and nobody i got to on youtube did it so well. Thanks a ton!
love your channel bro!! it sounds boring but i would love a video on how to organize plugins in ableton, as right now I have so many and it's just a mess to navigate. i’m sure i’m not the only one who feels this way too!!!
Maaan you guys are awesome. Thanks so much for this structured, funny and inspiring Channel. I have already learned so much by you guys and will continue to.🙌🙏 VAMOOOOS
I came here after feeling some frustration with my drums these days and wow thank you so much for this amazing tutorial Zack! I feel like I’m in Bootcamp all over again (and it’s an awesome feeling)
Hello! I did look and I’m not sure if I missed it because there are so many videos, but what about the drum bus? Do you bus all into one channel after and then add more effects or should the original mixing of each element be enough to not need a drum bus? Thank you! I love love love watching all of these videos and would really like to apply as well
Nice video 👏 -- I know this tutorial's 2 years old & 50 minutes long, but honestly I'd LOVE to see Levels 4, 5, & 6 because there was SO MUCH left on the table concerning drum production (especially where the POWER on Ableton iz concerned 😉), so if THAT tutorial EXISTS *please* let me know bcuz I'm ALL for exploring the MASSIVE DEPTH Ableton has in Sample Manipulation, Interactive Dynamic Mixing, Incredible AutoFills using the Session View, etc. This was just the TIP of the Iceberg -- if you've gone DEEPER please send me that LINK 🥁🙏🥁 Sincerely, a fellow Ableton Lover ✨️💻😎👍✨️
Whats your guys opinions on buying fabfilter stuff (especially pro Q) if im just a beginner? Dont really think it will magically make my EDM sound alot better, should be better to first properly completely master EQ eight and other stock stuff?
I’d agree with you on this!! Many times, as a beginner, we can think specific plugins make the real difference in our music/productions/etc…but they really don’t. It’s the individual using them that makes things sound great. FabFilter has incredible plugins that provide massive advantages over the stock plugins…but a beginner rarely sees / hears those differences. Learn how to use the stock plugins first because they usually limit you to the most fundamental parts of each tool. Once you fully understand your basic tools, it’s much easier to utilize the value in third party plugins ♥️👊
This was amazing, super helpful for my drum game! When is the rest of the series dropping? I am ready to binge watch the Netflix special of "Key Parts to a Song if you like and subscribe" by Cosmic Academy
Sample packs refer to a bundle of audio samples you can buy/download to use in your productions. Splice, for example, allows you to download the individual samples from many different sample packs.

Gonna sample that little mario bit, Zack!
Hahaha 🤣

I like the LFO effect. Would you say is better an adding a groove to the midi tack?
Different! It’s just another option. Things don’t have to be one or the other, better or worse!! Can even use both of them at times!!
loop 3 in level 1's soul mate is "Ievan Polkka" break :)
Godsend
👊♥️
How to figure out how many steps you need to change ti a certain key?
This was amazing, super helpful for my drum game! When is the rest of the series dropping? I am ready to binge watch the Netflix special of "Key Parts to a Song if you like and subscribe" by Cosmic Academy
hahahahaha 🤣 appreciate you! happy this helped
what is Sample pack ?
Sample packs refer to a bundle of audio samples you can buy/download to use in your productions. Splice, for example, allows you to download the individual samples from many different sample packs.
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Level 2 Look like drums of "Cloverdale_Movin"
C to E is 4 half steps not 3, thats why the EQ told you D#
There is nothing wrong with triplets :)
hello love your content, but everytime you use profanity I have to immediately close out the video. you're amazing
Thank you!
You’re welcome! Happy it can help!
