You guys are so encouraging. After turning back to Christ, you've answered so many questions that have always bothered me. Before, I always questioned why the gospel was such "good news" if we still had to worry about works for our salvation. Now I understand. Thank you!

I just wanted to say how much I love you all. I stumbled upon Reformed theology years ago, but it didn’t really settle in until I started listening to you guys. So appreciative, so thankful. God is that big, and that wonderful. I rest in His grace and sovereignty.

I love that comment about the tone of your church and how some churches talk in a threatening away even to believers like "Y'all better repent!"

I have been saying for the last 17 yrs of my Christian life, "that sin is unfortunately a part of the Christian life".
We see this clearly in Psalm 119, where the Psalmist declares repeatedly "I love your Law", but is also, paradoxically, aware of his sinfulness & waywardness, & asks God to seek him:
I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek your servant, for I do not forget your commandments. (Psalm 119:176, ESV)

You cannot imagine how much your podcast has helped me and how much God has spoken to my heart through your words. I have been suffering for a LONG time, in sin, without hope, without light... turning away from my God because I constantly feel condemned, beyond grace and forgiveness. And when he raise me up and I cry out to God, I just fall again and that vicious circle is killing me. It cannot be that I am a Christian, I tell myself over and over again, I am an apostate, I am deceiving myself, there is no hope, God doesn't love me... And the worst thing is that nobody seems to understand this situation in which you are killing yourself, you are dying, you cannot take it anymore. And suddenly, the Lord puts this podcast in my way. Thank you thank you thank you. Sorry for my English. Love from Spain.

Early in the book, Jerry Bridges writes “since the gospel is only for sinners, I begin each day with the realization that despite my being a saint, I still sin every day in thought, word, deed, and motive.” Is daily sinning habitual sinning? A habit, as defined by the Webster dictionary, means “a regular, recurring action or practice, especially one that is hard to give up.” So, what do you make of committing daily sin, get which according to the definition above, is habitual, recurring sin, leven though we confess them to God over and over?

If you abide in him you don't sin If you're born of God you can't sin because his seed is in you and you can't sin!

Could you do an episode on 1 Cor 5:11 please? There are some people in our church applying this to people who are divorced and remarried and therefore living in adultery.

Honestly, I think the number one reason we slip into sin is that we lose sight of how wonderful, how marvelous, how utterly worthy Christ is. This may sound abstract, but our gaze on Christ gets broken/blurry somehow ("little" sin, hurtful words, exposure to wrong person, exposure to a false teaching, some form of legalism, etc.). However, that gaze is REAL and should be (and can be) filling our days, transforming us by the Spirit.

Years and years ago, my gf at the time, now wife, had abortion and ripped us apart.
God brought us back to him by acknowledging the evil that it truly. We thought God would never allow to have kids, we were so broken. We made the decision out of fear. If not being able to provide, not being able to good parents. Fear. We didn’t have God.
    We didn’t have faith.
Today we have a one year old, Grace Lee Goff, and Eden Reigns Goff will be here in February.
God is our provider, God is who sustains my family, not me, not my wife. God does. JESUS does.
We are sinners and as long as we are in this flesh, we WILL sin EVERYDAY in some way or another.
    BUT GOD!!
But God, his love, and his blood 🩸 is sufficient to cover my life, my sin, the good and the bad, it’s all in his hands.
There are no better hands for our lives to be in.
Thank you Jesus for YOUR work, YOUR grace, YOUR mercy, and YOUR love and YOUR sustainability!
    Hallelujah, Maranatha, Amen

What is the difference between a Christian who is bothered by his 15-year battle with porn and the people mentioned in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10?

    • @Bobepc
      @Bobepc 9 місяців тому +1

I think that is what 1 Cor 6:9-10 is describing. Someone who professes Christianity but continues walking in unrighteousness is on dangerous ground.....

For innumerable evils have surrounded me; My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up They are MORE THAN THE HAIRS OF MY HEAD; Therefore my heart fails me. Ps 40 : 12
This was written by David, the father of Absalom, who apparently had about 12 pounds of hair cut off PER YEAR.
