The John Deere 318 was probably the best homeowner tractor they made. They had the Onan twin cylinder air cooled engine that was an absolute beast! The hydrostatic transmission was very durable also. They also had power steering that made turning effortless. These units were very durable and lasted a long time.
Mr. Moniere you are a true inspiration to homeowners all over texas that still have northeast accents. We all pray for refugee status in free states with our state pensions. Dog bless you for sticking it out up north.
You have lot's of talent Steve and take good care of your vehicles and tools. Retired to Florida 7 years ago after 65 + years in Iowa sure don't miss the snow! All the best to you and "Miss Molly" !
I just bought a 317 in really good shape. It came with a deck and a somewhat beat up model 49 snowblower. I was looking for a newer model but after watching this thing work, I think I’m going to restore the 49 as it appears to be as much of a beast as the tractor and deck are! Great video.
Awesome snowblower Steve. That little thing moves right along. Clearin' your yad with the snowblowah. All you need is a stereo in that so you can listen to music while you're snowblowing.
You got more snow than we did on the North Shore. Our JD at work has a 2 stage blower and doesn't leave those piles at the end of the run. Yours makes quick work of the snow.
I just want to say thank you for your videos I really do enjoy them everyday I watch them before work when I get home I like how you have your standby generator you're doing pretty good in life your cooking videos I like I want the one video of Guam keys sorry I don't know how to pronounce it I think it's polish thank you very much
The dusty red one is a 1934 Ford I believe, and the black and green one next to it is probably the same age. Behind the dusty red one is a black '57 Chevy, and next to the '57 is a red and white '55 Chevy. Next to the '55 appears to be the C-pillar of '66-'67 Chevelle two door hardtop.
Thanks for the vid. Particularly interested in your Cozy cab. I just bought one like yours for my 314. Like you said, it's HEAVY! I have some rust around the edges to repair plus I need new front and rear windows. Need to find a wiper too. Cheers from NJ.
Great job you did with the tractor! I see it goes through snow like a knife goes thru butter! Like your old cars Steve! Would be nice when the whether gets better for you to do a video on them too! Now you are ready for some working man's food!

I have a Wheelhorse tractor with a 4 ft. Plow blade. I use #50 roller chain around the circumference of the front tires to have better steering control on snow and ice.
It looks like wet and heavy snow. I guess the single stage did pretty well. It surprised me , being that heavy and wet. Too bad the engine cooling vent doesn't blow into the cab on that 318. Instead it pulls cold air into your cab.
check the oil. my brother blew up his onan 2 cylinder jd317 twice rototilling his/neighbors gardens his has the rear pto. he gets 5x6 round bales from me works that in the sandy soil
