To me Dread and the Fugitive mind is about our minds constantly wanting to get more stuff never having enough, in the lyrics am a social disease to me its not speaking about a person but the constant desire to get what everyone else has by any means, but of course Dave said the song is about judgment for making the right or wrong choices. I think this song has multiple interpretations that is the genius behind it, Dave is a master lyricist.

@@faintsmile88 Hell yeah! I love Claymore. Shame the anime only covered like 1/3 of the story but it had an amazing soundtrack. I also read the manga long ago and remember liking it, but can't recall most of it nowadays. Seeing Claymore is always great tho 😎👌🏻
the way glen drover and dave go in on the solos for you're dead is amazing. united abominations is extremely underappreciated and al pitrelli is a fuckin monster. his solo for dread and the fugitive mind is in my opinion the best solo in megadeth's discography
Yah, Glenn was solid. Hated to see him go, but Broderick was such a badass too! Shitty guitar players don't make it into megadeth. Jeff Loomis auditioned when he was a teenager. How fucking killer would that be!
"Dread and the fugitive mind" was released as a new track in their best of album from 2000 called "capitol punishment: the megadeth years". One year later in 2001 it came out in a new studio album called: "the world needs a hero". p.s: "cryptic writings" is from 1997 ;)
I think UA is underrated and actually I like all the other songs more than this one. Sleepwalker, burnt ice, Blessed are the dead, United abominations, The album is so good!
Not sure if you're into books, but Dave Mustaine actually has a few books out you may find interesting. I would suggest "Mustaine- A heavy metal memoir ", and "Rust in Peace , The inside story of the Megadeth masterpiece" . Both are suggested reading for the Megadeth fan, and both give a behind the scenes look at the genius that is Dave Mustaine.

Crazy thing about Megadeth is most of the guitar is derived from jazz and blues just with distortion. Dave Mustaine is a crazy individual but he surprisingly wrote lyrics that were very ahead of it's time. Dave was always labeled as an asshole because he kicked so many band members out....but he wanted it to be correct and never settled for less.

You're dead is prime example of dave not bothering to ryhme words and writing uneven lyric structure that makes it sound like he's singing a random page from a book over some epic music . Not sure why he started doing this around the early 2000s it's fucking annoying though . I think Dave's surround by sycophants affraid to tell him it's sounds off and does a disservice to the song . Makes what would be a great song just okay .
to this day marty's solo on dread on the fugitive mind gives me chills. he was my favourite solo guitarist in megadeth and Dave was too attached to metallica to not see forest for the trees
Sorry but at least IMO anyone who thinks Metallica is better than Megadeth obviously hasn't listened to any of their music. They have always stayed consistent musically unlike Metallica. The riffs alone are better than Metallica. Like I said just my opinion.
U.A. (United Abominations) is a supremely underrated album as a whole.
Goddam right
I was surprised to hear that. I thought it was a pretty strong album too!
