I'm not sure I would call that Lab player a "floodgate" version. They have 3 floodgates (5 if you count dimension barrier, which all versions of lab play anyways). I would just say they are trap heavy period.
Hero is such a funny deck. We have access to such particular floodgate conditions that, depending on the meta, just shut down meta threats. And our turn 2 isn’t too shabby either
The power of snake eyes and fire decks is waaaaay to strong right now. Every cards got a GY effect or searches and everything is easily resummonale. The deck pluses so damn well and searching Kurokara is the icing on the cake.
That’s what I was saying as we need more generic banish effects like the counter trap debunk, karma cut, soul release, and called by the grave should go to three in master duel.
Yeah, it's nuts. But it also loses so hard against anything that blocks graveyard or does a macrocosmos. Although it's a rogue deck, I am having some success with virtual world only thanks to shenshen floodgate. Unless they draw imperm or the spell that push a monster to the spell zone, they can't play

I will always cheer for a Hero deck. It's a 20 year old deck that can still hang with modern big leagues, and it's still getting support. Who doesn't love an underdog story?
yeah i adore them. i got a royal shadow mist pulling for super poly back in april 2022, and i’ve held onto it slowly amassing more and more hero cards. still like 10 away or so but eh
Most hand traps just feel like minus 1s right now. There are exceptions(i.e. Maxx "C"), but I'm finding the prospect of stacking engines or specialized board breakers with Snake Eyes a lot more appealing than watching an entire board rebuild itself after a Nibiru, or an Ah BLOS get snatched by Hiita to go into full combo with. That said, monster theft stonks are at the highest rates in a while. TTT and CoH punish Apollousa spam incredibly hard. Droplet is great for triggering the float effects of Snake-eye engine during the opponent's turn. And if you DO need to play hand traps, remember to focus on hitting the GY(D.D. Crow can spot banish to bypass certain chain blocks) and backrow(Ghost Ogre can pop Cont and Field Spells when they trigger anytime after activation which shuts off their effects and many grind games) when possible.
lowkey last weeks was way better before all the snake eye players started using the turn 1 negate version of the deck over the regular version. These duels are wayyy less interactive.
@@bobshnitzel2608 Not really, I did play master duel 1 year ago, played for some time (almost reached diamond) but special summons made me quit the game like they always do. Some special summons are nice, what I don't like about the game is start with 5 cards, summon 15-20 cards and end the turn with more than 5 cards in hand. And I'm still sticking around because waiting for a classic mode where you don't have so much bs.

And about hands traps I understand how some people might like that but I personally don't, it's the reason weaker archetypes are unplayable in yu-gi-oh, because they are not 1 card do your whole combo so if they get disrupted when going first it's over.
Something needs to be done about the time limit. At a bare minimum increase the time limit for rank up games. I’d also like the time limit to increase in the top ranks (starting in either plat or diamond). 5 minutes is enough time if you’re not interrupted. But that never happens And there are ways to keep players from exploiting time limit increases for things like griefing

DRNM is really bad right now. Only good against SHS and wombo combo decks.

That's why you use hand traps. You can limit these special summons your self.
