I don't see the reason this went to crowd funding. Renegade didn't need to. There's nothing special or deluxe about the production. This is a pre-order system with high shipping to guarantee you get first release, as it will probably sell out in retail quickly for the first run.

On the topic of messing up the deduction…I like that aspect of Alchemists…you can be wrong about the deduction and still compete, because you can publish with hedged theories. And you can, of course, throw off your opponents as well. It has a good amount of interaction in that way

Whenever we play deduction games, including Cluedo as a kid, there's always been a very interactive socially generated meta-game of bluffing and bragging, etc. That's probably why I don't fully understand the criticisms of games that don't force interaction. I mean I accept it is a thing because enough gamers raise it as an issue but I've just never experienced it. We're as social playing something like Ark Nova as we are playing party games that force interaction, but I always play with close friends and family rather than strangers at a board game meet or con so that might shape my thinking some.
Tiwanaku. Not heard of it myself, but found it by going through all the deduction games of 2022. Just to make it more confusing, his video on it was from back when it was called 'Pachamama'…
I am a KS backer. It should be shipping soon, as it's with the distributor, Fun Again Games, but they screwed up and lost replacement parts. Unless you backed the deluxe KS version, which included a deluxe component so it doesn't need the fix, may want to wait for the second printing that won't have the missing replacement part. They had a lot of mistakes in the production, and now distribution.

Turing Machine is beautiful if you like deduction games. When you first learn it, there's a Eureka moment when you realise that it's all about working out the one fact that each criterion card is trying to tell you (or each pair of cards in Extreme mode). When you have each of these facts, there is only one possible solution. Very crunchy and quite addictive, especially on Extreme mode, hard level with all six verifiers (so six pairs of criterion cards, where one of each pair is actually not telling you anything).
@jonkirk2118 Question: How many different verifier criteria are there in the game? Are there enough to mix it up from game to game? Also, are the codes only 3 digits - or are there any codes that are more - like 4 or 5 digits? My only fear about the game, after watching a playthrough is that the puzzle will get old after a few plays and continue to be the same over and over. Do you find this not to happen? Thanks.
@@JJ_TheGreat There are millions of puzzles on the official Turing Machine website, using different combinations of the 48 criterion cards (the small cards). The big square cards are verification cards which tell you (via the 125 punched cards' holes showing a tick or a cross) if the three numbers you're testing pass the test for that specific criterion card. Even though there are only 125 combinations of numbers (always 1 to 5 in the three colours), you're never gonna come across the same combination of criterion cards twice and it's the combination of these cards that provides the millions of puzzles, not the 125 solutions. There are three main ways to play the game (standard, extreme and nightmare - I play on extreme now all the time), and you can play with 4, 5 or 6 verifiers, on either easy, medium or hard, with harder puzzles offering less specific information per test. You have to avoid something called the X paradox (they explain this on their website) but once you realise it's all about working out the one fact each criterion card is trying to tell you (and there are several on each criterion card which you have to rule out, leaving just one), that won't be a problem. An example fact is "there are two even numbers". Those criterion cards do not "know" what the three digit solution is. Each just knows the one fact. When you've got all those facts, you can find the only possible three digit solution (the 1 to 5 in the three colours). It's very clever and a lot of fun. On extreme mode, you use pairs of criterion cards, and only one of each pair "knows" the one fact. The other card of the pair is a dummy. This makes for longer games so you spend more time playing and less time setting up and tearing down games. If you only play on easy mode, the games will become too short and you'll spend half the time playing and half setting up/tearing down as you have to find all the cards for the puzzle.
