help... is "of" and "connect" the same sign? i am very nervous while in practice and very eager to get better a novice but plan on practicing when I can.
The sign for host seems very similar to adopt or take. Is that because a host has something and is in charge? Basically, my question is those terms take, adopt, and host the same kind of idea in ASL? Or is it the same sign but two completely different meanings like a homonym in english?
Great question, Jess! They do look a lot alike. DATE is signed upright (index fingers point upward), while DESSERT tends to be pointed more outward / the hands held more horizontally. Hope that helps!
and thank you for all the lessons!
☺️ thanks, James

"Host" looks exactly like "take up"... and I suppose they kinda have the same meaning, too.
Yes indeed!

What's the difference between dessert and date/dating?

That's kind of what I thought, but I wanted to make sure. Thanks!!
