- Thank you as always to our patron Scott for so many great picks! This was another winner... short, sweet, and to the point. The harmony was TIGHT and so was the instrumentation. Great track.

The live version with the extended vocal intro is amazing....
YES. The version you mention really shows how each of them are lead singers in their own right. Good call. Blessings

Lauro Nyro (1947-1997) was a Genius and wrote tons of hits that went up the charts! You MUST Listen to her first album ELI AND THE 13 CONFESSIONS recorded and released in 1967 when the was 17.
Between 1968 and 1970, a number of artists had hits with her songs: the 5th Dimension with "Blowing Away", "Wedding Bell Blues", "Stoned Soul Picnic", "Sweet Blindness", and "Save the Country"; Blood, Sweat & Tears and Peter, Paul and Mary with "And When I Die"; Three Dog Night and Maynard Ferguson with "Eli's Comin'"; and Barbra Streisand with "Stoney End", "Time and Love", and "Hands off the Man (Flim Flam Man)". Nyro's best-selling single was her recording of Carole King's and Gerry Goffin's "Up on the Roof". Nyro was posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010, and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.[
Laura Nyro wrote a number of hits of the era (1968-70} and she was quite hot for a while, as a singer as well as a songwriter. She wrote five of the Fifth Dimension's singles and is in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
I love this version so much ❤ Three Dog Night is so good ❤
This song is iconic. I forgot about it. Thank you for the reminder Lee.
laura nyro is a legendary song writer................
The live version is really good.
3 tasty vocalists in 1 band? That was the 70s baby.
try a little tenderness..............a must listen
It's on my playlist along with Laura Nyro's version. Enjoyed your reaction!
Now you HAVE to hear them do "Try A Little Tenderness" Cory was a vocal GOD
❤still amazes me what harmony these 3 amazing singers had, backed by incredible band! 🎉🎉🎉❤e soulof Corey, the range of Chuck and Danny's blend!
The live version from the album Around The World With Three Dog Night , kicks , but then , that whole album kicks ass !
First of all, I love 3 Dog Night... great reaction L33. And, YES, Cheyenne, please do a reaction or 5!
Thanks for doing this. They're a great group, but you should also listen to Laura Nyro's original!! (And while you're at it, take a deep dive into here whole oeuvre!)
As the unofficial Audiophile in the house, I must point out that the original by Laura Nyro must be listened to understand this song. I saw Three Dog Night in 1972 Miami Beach convention hall!
I will look it up. Thank you.
One, Two, Three, LEAD SINGERS!!!!!
Yo, great reaction. This band was the first concert I went to, a birthday present from my sister. What a thrill for a 13-year-old kid! And for a band that was obviously dominated by the talent of these three amazing singers, they were always a complete, genuine band. The guys that played on the recordings also played them on tour...something not so common with a lot of other vocal-centric bands at the time, when the Wrecking Crew was the house band for many other groups. And each member of this ensemble had his chance to shine, not just the singers, for that golden period of hit after hit.
I had the 45. Was a great song. Played it out!
Cheyanne ❤❤ yes! Do a reaction with Daddy
Things are always changing bro. Everything old is new again. There was a big explosion of new music new fashion new our new sensibilities in the 1920s and then it hit again in the 1960s 70s couple so I predict we’re gonna go through some really hard times, but out of that will blossom new era like we’ve never experienced before one that’s going to be beautiful when that’s gonna be enthusiastically, peaceful and full of love hope and energy
You should check out the original. It is amazing.
Loved Three Dog Night. A bunch of top ten hits between 1969 and 1974 including 3 #1 songs❤
growing up in the 70's AM top 40 was it. Everything from bubblegum to hard rock to country, they played it all. It was great.
Live bro Live !
Love Three Dog Night.... I went to a pool party over summer of my 7th grade year, and I brought the 8 track of Three Dog Night's Greatest Hits. It was quite popular in about 1973....
One of my all-time favorites as a kid I wore out my brother & sister's 45 of this track playing it so much LOL❤
Great song! I never knew ut was by Laura Nyro.
Great tune! Keep the hits coming...
Can’t wait for this one
Love the three dog night.
Love Corey Wells
He grew up in my City and my brother in law played in a band with him before he went on to success! Love his voice❤
Cute channel intro! 😊
It doesn't seem that long ago when my two Sons were that little - and one of them had turned 16 recently, and his 18-year-old brother is now in the same band with me, as the drummer 😊
Boy can they sing! love it. such a great band. cheers from Canada ❤
i know most people will recomend this but Laura Nyro was my dream woman! she was as close to perfect that i could imagine! R.I.P. great one! i have Lauras original recording!
I love your comment!
I still love Laura and prefer her original recording of this song though 3 Dog Night certainly did a respectful version.
I saw Laura perform live twice and each time it was as if she came down from Mt Olympus haha…she was such a rare talent in many ways. Mesmerizing!❤
One of my all-time favorite Rock band. Hear this song on the radio in 1969 and was blown away.....because Soul and Gospel music I grew up with and sang songs from these genres......but when I heard Three Dog Night I fell in love with this band. They sounded soulful and very Gospel!!!
But check out "The 5th Dimension".
What other band has 3 lead singers at the level that they could really front almost any band. And the rest of the band was always tight.
Chicago and The Doobies Brothers also has 3 leads.
Laura was a great song writer and singer who tragically died young.
Phenomenal for sure❤
TDN was a great group.. 3 singers, great song choices.. so many more songs to play.
Oh yea ... I'm here for this one
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!! Wake up!!!!!
I would not hold my breath waiting for that
I know a lot of people don't care for acapella songs, but 3DN has one for "Eli's Coming",from '69 I believe, the harmonies really stand out, just incredible!! You really should take it in!! ❤🎉❤
It is worth listening minus the banger musicians just this one time !!!!
Pop music when I was young, mixed in with Motown, Beatles, Cream, Led Zeppelin, and so many others. When radio was king. Great harmonies & covers from this hit machine.✌️❤️🎶
Never Been to Spain!!!❤
Best cover band in history! Great musicians, original arrangements, and the amazing Richie Podolor produced some of their best material. The sound on their albums was incredible.
Three Dog Night covers are always incredible. Great vocals and arrangements. I slept with an AM radio next to my pillow when I was a kid. They had so many songs on there. Lee, I love watching you rock out!! ❤
Yes, Shianne, come do it. Do a reaction with Lee. We won't bite.
I've only seen 3 Dog once live, but it was one of the most fun concerts I've seen.....and believe me, in the 55 years, I've got a list of dozens upon dozens of concerts under my belt. 3 Dog is one of the, "don't take us too serious" groups. They knew who they are, and they went with it.
This song was written by Laura Nyro.
You can.t go wrong with 3 lead singers. Celebrate is my personal favorite.
"angels screaming at you" great and accurate phrase!
Haha I thought so too 😂
That was a fantastic reaction Lee I loved it❤
Who let the Dogs out! Thanks, Scott!
good one
Such a great band, They would be a good start for Shianne to join you!
I'm glad it's Saturday and I'm not working so I can watch the premiere. Can't wait to hear your reaction. Love this song!
Cheyenne, you should TOTALLY do a video with Lee!!
Loved 3 Dog back in my High School days!! Love at the Forum was a fantastic album!!
I have seen Three Dog Night 4 times in concert!!! And you are right.....civilization is slowing fading away into something else called "New Generation Alpha!!!" And Three Dog Night are famous for their harmonies and vocal arrangements!!!! Were inducted into the Rock n' Roll Vocal Hall of Fame. Good reactions.
Three Dog Night did a cover of a Lennon - McCartney song It's For You. The vocals are crazy. Sounds like studio trickery but it's not. I saw them do it live twice.
I have this album in my hundreds of pounds of boxes of old records. I a🎉lways thought these guys had a special energy that made them stand out at a time when there was so, so much great music to listen to.
Lots of good stuff from TDN. “Chest Fever” “Heaven is in Your Mind” “Out in the Country” and many more.
Probably the best cover band ever and certainly encouraged folk to check out the original songs by Free , Laura Nyro , Argent and so on .
Watch the live version, Iy is extended with an amazing intro.
Great reaction
I saw them live several times. The live shows were amazing.
Saw them in '74 in Canton, Ohio. Perfect vocals.
Youve got to see the live version of this its much longer I think I will request it:) I saw them twice the past few years just before covid. They still sound great and play nothing but hits 3 great voices and great band to boot So many huge hits by this band
C’mon Shi, you know you want to do this! You know you do.
I heard that they got their name three dog night because that is how cold it would be that it's a Three dog night means it's extremely cold out❤
Everly brothers songs like Wake up little Susie and Cathy’s clown. So many great Everly bros to hear.
great voice punch & harmony!
One of my top favorite songs. Falling in love hits hard.
I love Cory Wells’ vocals!
Thank you, Scott and Lee!
Shianne, please do a video with, Lee! 🙂
Shi please come and do a video ... we've seen your charming kids
Shi! Please! Join Lee :) yes!!!
The girl-group Honey Limited also did this song. I liked their version, but this one is the real deal.
I highly recommend you listen to the original written by LAURA NYRO❤
On the road to Shambala. Mama told me not to Come.
love them doing "chest fever" "one man band" "pieces of april"
One & Easy To Be Hard are my favorite 3DN tracks.
Kudos to patron Scott for yet another great pick. Long Live Good Music (memories) Tyvm for your commentary & reaction L33Reacts
I think Laura Nyro's (who wrote the song) "Version" is much more beautiful...
I was in 7th or 8th grade when I bought the 45rpm of this song. Played it over and over LOL!!
I have never heard this version with the coda cut off, even on AM radio at the time! One of the great things about Laura Nyro (aside from her compositions and singing) was that she was never precious about others covering her songs even if their versions were more popular.
She also did great covers, some together with Patti Labelle..."Up On the Roof", "Dancing in the Streets", etc.
I would love to see her in the show. Couples get more views
Maybe I can coax her in somehow
@@L33Reacts just a hi bye would be fun. If she isn’t really into this old stuff well that’s even better, well better for us anyway.
Saw them live maybe a dozen times !
Back in the days of radio, the stations needed advertising revenue to survive. They also wanted to get as many listeners as possible. So most songs were 2 or 2 1/2 minutes (albums often had longer versions, which was a selling point) so the stations could cram as many in as possible.
What a great and honest response an accurate perspective on this music and it’s era. Seeing how you experience this magic time brings me back to my youth when I first heard the sounds I could relate to in an intimate way. Thanks friend.
That was amazing ❤
Always liked TDN's version but now the Go-to is definitely Laura Nyro's.
If you chose their video done in the 70's you would've heard a 3 min intro!
❤😂❤ WOOHOO 🎉 Mr Farris!!!😂
Dont know if you reviewed other of their many hits , but just a few that you should review are One , Joy To The World, Liar, Black and White , Out In The Country , Shambala , Mama Told Me Not To Come , and Easy To Be Hard . All classics and are must listens !
I LOVE the keyboards to this song. I think Jimmy Greenspoon just nailed it. Yes, the song is too short.
Buddy you ain’t kiddin. At one time, AM was all we had. There used to be very few FM but when we had FM they could sometimes play whole albums or long songs like Stairway to Heaven. But before that few songs were longer than 3:30. It was amazing. Unless you could get album versions. Sometimes if you listened late at night, the night time DJs would play longer cuts.
❤🎉lol, so funny my brother and his friends had a little radio station in the garage just to do long version of songs at night!!! 😂🤣 Great memories!!
Couldn't do this now too many complications!! 😮🙄
Awesome. You gotta check out “Liar” from tdn. A Rod Argent song( Zombies, Argent) by these guys
I think you will like this.
RIP Cory❤💔
You need to react to far more thank you scientist friend! Spesifically Swarm, Chromology, Blue Automatic, In The Company Of Worms, Absentee and The Somnambulist. You should really just do full album reactions on them though!
Yes. They were robbed from Rock and Roll hall of fame. Same with Grand Funk Railroad
There is a video of them singing this with an extended drawn out intro its way cool ....
Yes, used to be an avid Short wave listener and wrote reception reports all over the world. Then the stations would send me postcards books and propaganda. But now it's all on the internet. That's great, but short wave used to be a challenging hobby and still can be... but not as much and they don't send me postcards.
Hi Cheyanne! Come on and say howdy, if you'd like to. 👋
