What makes this song bitter sweet is that the concept of this song actually came from Geri and Emma before Geri left, hardly anyone knows this.. but we'll never get to hear the lyrics that Geri wrote because her lyrics re-written, and scrapped. The concept of this song actually came from Geri before she left.
Geri had a lot of input in the songs I wouldn't be surprised if she had a little creative conceptualization of any of the songs. However, she is very lucky, to be forgiven for leaving the band when she did. If you look the lawsuit battle the Girl Group had with the motorcycle manufacturing company Aprilia, its one fine example of how Geri negetively affected each individual member of the band. and considering she left mid tour, and the tour was supposedly one of the first Music industry tours to ever have live commercials in-between acts and prior to the start of the show, like movie trailers before a movie, the first ever! She really could have sunk their titanic's , like she could have bankrupt every one of them, if what happened with Aprilia, domino effected their other sponsorship deals. OMG! Its a wonder why anybody talks to her at all. Like it's kinda unbelievable.
Love the bit at 1:22 when Divina stands up and does the “I know you’re gone, you said you’re gone but I can still feel you here” part. For some reason it makes me feel emotional the way she sings it
I completely understand Geri's reaction (or lack there of). As fans, the relationship with this song is bittersweet. The song is unquestionably powerful and the lyrics are beautiful, but it's a tough one to listen to because it takes us back to that May 31st when it was announced she had left the band. It was the end of a magical, happy, fast-paced era. As much as each of the 4 remaining members had very strong presence and personalities, you can't spell SPICE with 4 letters.
It’s very well written. They needed Geri for their brand for sure. In my opinion they were a lot stronger vocally as a four piece and this song proves it.
He is actually incredible with the song. He delivered this tribute to Geri so movingly. And the chorus he sang gave me goosebumps. You can see that Geri was so touched by it. So sad he did not have enough score.
Can this performance just please never end... as a young boy I was GUTTED when Geri left. For a fan to sing this song as a grown man for one of them! Wow
In the past interview, she did say that she & the four wrote that song based on the Dunblane tragedy in the late 1990's. But when she left on Melanie B's birthday in 1998, the Melanies, Emma & Victoria re-wrote the lyrics & dedicated it to Geri. I remember that.
Yes, we can see that in the verse & pre-chorus, it original said about the little child went to heaven, that symbolize the dead children, not about Geri But suddenly Geri left, therefore they rewrote the chorus & bridge, to contribute that Geri always be a part of Spice girls despite her departure That's so wonderful & precious
This song was dedicated to us fans inspired by Geri’s exit but it was meant as a comfort song for us. Geri said it herself at their recent tour. I saw them in Manchester and they explained how this song was made for the fans. I’m not sure he knows🧐
A singer should have the mere simple ability to sing in tune and hit the right notes whether his voice is great or average. This wasn't moving, it was terrible since he sang very bad. It's definitely about connecting with the audience but it's also about having a decent intonation at least.
Terrifying childhood dream. We all have them, you get to live yours and put it to rest once and for all. Check that off the "things to do before I die" list. Well done
@@Cloudetower um beg to disagree, they weren't friends first. They all answered an ad recruiting members for a girl group. They didn't know each other, probably because they all came from different parts of the UK.
I think Gerry didn't stand up because she might've felt targeted, and maybe even a little ticked off, because he brought back sad and bitter feelings she didn't want to relive.Plus,I think she was the one who said that he sounded "nasally",so she didn't care for his voice either.
Love the song choice, just thought it was a bit weird singing a Spice Girls song that Geri isn't even a part of...even though the meaning behind the song is about her leaving
Essa canção, Good Bye, de 1999, foi composta e gravada por Emma, Victoria, Mel B e Mel C, meses depois da saída de Geri do grupo. Talvez por isso ela não tenha levantado, porque a música não é dela.
Me equivoquei na resposta.
He should have sang lift me up...I think people will get more credit by really admiring the girls by what they musically brought to earth and not just by wanting to appeal to people by always singing Wannabe, SUYL, SYBT, WDYTYA, Goodbye... Still kinda feel this guy didnt do it that bad but not sure, he was kinda shouting in the "no no no" part but his voice sounded powerful...
This was a definite message to Geri from the fans during that time.... It was heartbreaking when she left.

She was more emotional over the context of the song rather than his singing, which bless his heart was kinda pitchy and nasally.
Pitchy and the vowels too tall, it sounds like when my friends and i jokingly sing pop songs as classical songs

I think she was so surprised on how moved she was she didn’t know how to react. When everyone started singing even I got emotional lol
I can't stop listening this song, so much
