What I would really like to see is the IC-7000 brought up to date and rereleased.

All that I can tell is that Ray from Icom America displayed components for a radio that is as large as my kitchen sink and not that of a “All Modes” small compact POTA and SOTA transceiver. The IC 905 should have been a 120 watt version of the IC 705, a major screw up for sure, one that I don’t think Icom could ever recover from for my age group. 😢
I keep thinking *someone* from the big 3 will come out with one. Who knows, maybe Xiegu will beat them all to the punch since the big 3 are obviously not listening to us.

About time we had a new big box rig from the big 3.
I want to see an SDR radio that includes HF, 6m, 2m, 70cm, 1.2GHz, on-board antenna tuner with analyzer display, multiple band specific antenna outputs (2x SO-239 for HF/6m, BNC connectors for 2m/70cm with integrated duplexer, Type N for 1.2GHz), 100W output on HF/50W on VHF/UHF...all in a laptop computer format that includes FT8 and other software, connectors for key/paddles, headphone, microphone of your choice (software identifies the microphone and allows the functions of that mic), and multiple ports for power supply (solar, battery, AC). Basically an all in one ready to go base station/portable station....a ready made go box. Probably run about $5k depending on who makes it.....
I bet it will be a Ham Radio/Tunner with built in PC

Should have been a icom 705 with 20-100watts & USB-C
It has a lot of connectors on a couple of those boards. I think it is a SDR HF radio that has a remote head. Looks like you connect the two of them via CAT 6 type cable. So you might be able to put the power amp at the tower, and remote the head in the shack. It has like 3 RJ45 jacks, a couple of din plugs, a couple of RCA plugs (??) and a bunch of 3.5mm jacks.
I can tell from all of those boards that it's going to be very expensive... and multiband HF, possibly with VHF/UHF.
All I wanted was a 20 watt IC-705 for a halfway reasonable price, and this obviously isn't that.
Would've loved a 705 with 20-25W

The "X 60" probably means it's going to cost our budget times 60. 😉
What a strange reveal. On the next ham fest I'm going to go and bring a bunch of electronic components and garbage for "my next gen/next level" ham radio rig.... Now accepting donations lol
People bought a lot of radios this weekend I for one. If I knew what was coming out I might of waited….. to old for games

well, I expect this radio to be a high end model. perhaps radio designed to work with upcoming 1 KW linear Amplifier from Icom to do pre-compensation to send out cleaner signal. I probably would not be potential customer , due to higher price. AG6JU

They are telling you something. They are telling you their product development team was slashed and they are way behind. They have no new products to release this year, so marketing thought up this ridiculous ploy to keep you interested. 😂
