Fun Fact: The folklore is that Sri Thyagaraja was suffering from extreme pain and was on his deathbed when he wrote this song. The lyrics conveys a sense of hopelessness, pleading to the Lord to relieve him from this pain. The mood of the song is unequivocally conveying pathos and sobreity. I think SS has absolutely done justice to keeping up with this feeling of pathos. One of the best interpretations of this great song! Totally enjoyed the experience! (It riles me up when people hurry this song since it actually lends itself to fast paced rendering.)
Since you have mentioned about when this song was composed, you also should know that the song had D1 and not D2. The song with D2 is only 80 years old. The mood/bhava of the song is more if sung with D1. I also need to say that I can hear clear influence of BMK in this rendition but Sanjay forgot to copy the lyrical perfection, word split from BMK. The word splits like "Gaganaani + Kilaku" and Nagaraja + Dharaneedu are wrong.
This time it seems Sanjay sir has sung for Lord rama and not for audience . whole 10 min pins were stabbing my heart.he is a real diamond and should be awarded with bharat Ratna title.
Is it only me or everyone else that thinks that Sanjay sir is of par excellence.... Beyond words o describe his mesmerising voice. May God bless him with an ever amazing life full of happiness and great health.
Oh my god! What a rendion of this famous kruthi. Yr upload, how i missed shri Narayankumar! This comp very well suited for instrumental music particularly nadaswaram. Lot of nadaswara pidigal! A desire to hear him sing along with nadaswaram this or nadaloludai will be real treat! Magnificient rendition!
Geetha ji - This rendition shows why Thalaivar commands such a loyal fan following. The nadaswara pidis are consistent right through. You are right, it would be a dream to listen to Yazzhpanam Bala with Thalaivar.
A treat to heart and soul. ‘Jagamele....’ has lingering effect of bliss brought by Abheri raga - totally astounding. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏾👍🏻👌🏼👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Sanjay's rendition coveys the pain and longing of Tyagaraja brilliantly! You can feel the "O rama why won't you come and save me" sentiment when he sings! He really is the Roger Federer of Carnatic music!
Master's yet another master class performance. SANGADHI "JAGAMELE" IS EXQUISITE. IN RECENT TIMES I DONT THINK ABHERI HAS BEEN SUNG LIKE THIS BY ANYONE BUT THE SUPER STAR OF CARNATIC MUSIC..BALAMURALI KRISHNA MASTERED THIS SONG BUT IN SLOWER PACE BUT SANJAY IS EXEMPLARY. I CAN EASILY SAY HE IS THE BEST VOCALIST AMONG CONTEMPORARY MUSICIANS AMONG BOTH MEN & WOMEN ARTISTS. SCINTILLATING & BREATHTAKING. I WONDER AT LEAST ABOUT 100 CONCERTS I HEARD BUT HE NEVER SANG NAGUMO. TOP CLASS IS NOT ENOUGH APPRECIATION, HE DESERVES MORE.
The version of Sri Tyagaraja's Nagumomu that is in vogue today is rendered in Karnataka Devagandhari though it is listed as an Abheri kriti. Muttuswami Dikshitar has composed ‘Veenabheri' in the raga Abheri with the usage of suddha dhaivatam. I have no issues if vidwans say that the kriti ‘Bhajare Manasa' and ‘Eppadi Padinaro' are in Abheri or in Karnataka Devagandhari! while ragas are similar and often indistinguishable.!!!. Here, Sanjay presented a melodious rendition...maintained sustained tempo throughout the recital. His nieraval in Charanam @ 'jagamele paramaatma evarito moralidudu' was so excellent; the the kalpanaswram so eloquently sung resulted in a lovely exposition of raga' s intrinsic notes.....The percussionists played nicely..... wholesome rendition of the popular keerthanam! best wishes

Not sure if the reference is accurate, neither is mine. What I have heard is that he composed this song when he lost the Rama Idol.

This man really pours his soul out every time. As a singer I am amazed he hasn’t lost his voice with all the effort he puts in!

This is a superb rendition of a Thyagaraja gem
Similar to Bhimpalasi of Hindustani Classical Music. Nice.

Sir Sanjay this song sung by you technically correct, and not by heart & soul. I feel that only your physical stress experienced in this song.
