When you mentioned the lace monitor's arboreal habits, that reminded me that in one of the early episodes of "The Crocodile Hunter" on Animal Planet, Steve Irwin was having a heck of a time trying to catch a lace monitor to show it to the camera, before he let it go on a nearby tree.
