Just got mine in yesterday and haven't installed it yet. Your video definitely gave me a bit more confidence to install this on my own, because it is daunting to have to drill holes into such an expensive cover. Happy camping!!!
Great video, some of the diamond back covers have spots marked underneath showing where to drill the holes. I believe there is the letter “F” and a 0 next to it which is where you drill.
Useful review. Thank you. A question. I realize the HD has a 1600 lbs capacity on top, which is great, so you can say put a camp top up there. But what about the water/weather seal around the periphery of the cover, how will that hold up if you are regularly or every so often compressing it to the max when heavy weight on top, even a camp top with a heavy man or two adults sleeping in it? Will that water/weather strip continue to work at 100% effectiveness? Can the water/weather strip be replaced and will that replacement be just as effective? Other? Thanks. Oh, and any risk of those holes you drilled in the cover leaking? Thanks again.
If you want the "proper" tool for the anchors, it's called a "Rivnut Installation Tool". Probably not worth it for this project alone, but they are extremely handy for fab projects.
I ordered this kit for bike carriers with my Diamondback HD and I badly regret. I should have watched this before adding it to the order. My reason is the stupid mount to the rails. I wasn’t aware you bolt this on and can’t just take it off if you don’t use it and throw it back on in a minute. That’s on me and might not be a big deal for others.
If this was designed for the diamondback, why the issue of some of the bokts in precarious licatiins rubbing against structure under lid....lol.....not cool!
Clean install. I see you went with the SE model and I see that saves four hundred bucks! I was wondering what size then are you putting on top? I want to get the same set up and was worried about weight. My wife and I and two small dogs would be it! tks for the video

This is a fantastic video. Thanks so much! Looking forward to doing this to my truck
There is a video on UA-cam where a guy added 2 gas struts and a bracket to make it to where he could open his rear cover with the tent on.
What?! Where! Wheres the link

Sounds like you want the quick detach Yakima rail system instead. This setup appears to be 4 bolts per support to get it to come off.

Is the Diamondback a SE model?

@@niteranger6376 yep
@@GearKnowHow Cool, then it will support the weight. I was worried about the static weight on top of the cover
Great vid! Ty
Did you get rid of the rough country tonneau cover? I'm looking at it so just wondering if you had issues with it. Thank you.
No issues with it! Just upgraded to the Diamondback to use with racks and rooftop tents
What state you in, install mine 😭😭
