'It shouldn't be this hard to run an excellent school.' With what Katherine and the school has been able to achieve for so many kids, why isn't Katherine in charge of education for the country instead of being dragged through court and receiving vile harassment and abuse?

Mrs Birbalsingh is a courageous and brilliant Head Mistress. It's a shame, but sadly not surprising, that our cowardly political leadership do not champion and support Michaela vociferously.

Import the third world, become the third world. UK was rid of religious problems. It has re-imported them.

My daughters ambition is to open a school like yours.
    You are inspiration.
I am disappointed that it is a pupil that is leading the pitch fork mob that wants to destroy your school.
    People hate success!

The secularised Godless people of the west need to understand that Islam never had a reformation, and never separated church and state. Religion, Culture and Law are ALL under the Islamic Clergy. If you have a problem with UK coming under the Shariah administered by this Clergy, you may want to rethink your "immigration" policies (assuming you actually have any). I wish Katherine and her project every success; don't let her fight this culture war alone; in a pusillanimous nation, EXTRAORDINARY burdens are put on the very few who are courageous, like Katherine.

She should be in charge of British Education. I could be completely wrong, but from my limited perspective and with regard everything that I’ve ever heard , it appears that her results speak for themselves.

Every state school should be run like Katherine's, my education was poor as there was no interest in us as pupils because we weren't seen as being worthy of effort. I did manage to get to uni tho, first of my family and was through having good supportive and grounded parents.

Unfortunately now there is an over interest in students. Specifically their feelings and it over rides everything including academics and discipline. Parents do not support teachers and administrators do not support teachers but both hold them responsible for the outcomes. It’s a sorry state.

Interesting discussion and yes, we sang the National Anthem every morning and said the Lords Prayer. When i had my own kid in school i was sad that had stopped. Good on you and keep going Katherine Birbalsingh, you are doing a great job.

I have been told by Muslims that if it is too impractical to say prescribed prayers at the prescribed times, there is a dispensation to postpone them and say them at a more practical time.
I have also been given to understand that, in Islam, fasting for children is voluntary. Children may fast to the extent that they feel like doing so.

Katherine is clearly a brilliant educator and a wonderful person too, but she’s battling against the brick wall of human stupidity and intolerance, and within a multicultural society it’s probably a losing battle.

The takeaway from this and other school incidents (let alone terrorist) is that there is no such thing as a moderate Muslim. To think otherwise is both wilful blindness and cowardice.
“We need something to believe in…”
    Ms. Birbalsingh is right.
Christianity, the muscular kind that won crusades and built an empire, whether you are a believer or not, needs to reign supreme in our nation and institutions.
It may not be perfect. But it’s a hell of a lot better than the Islamic future that is rapidly overtaking us.

When I was a kid at school I was asking question like, "If Britain is such a great country why do we have millions signing on the dole and the shops are full of stuff made in Japan and the Far East?" Britain is a country greatly under the influence of a changing world and we should educate our children accordingly.

I just touched the surface of Shakespeare's plays: as invisible as the bard is, there is the undeniable generosity of spirit, imagination and empathy so characteristic of English literature, that uncompromising but generous view of human foibles and appreciation of human goodness and moral clarity. As Shelley once wrote, ' the secret of morals is love, and imagination is the instrument that acts upon the cause'. I am paraphrasing from Defence of Poetry.

It’s interesting that she says they admitted more than 50% or up to 50% Muslim families. Something close to that. But I think you’ve identified your problem. There’s a tipping point with that religion where they become large enough to throw their weight around. I’m not trying to be mean. The reality is you’re dealing with a religion that spread its message by forcing itself on those around them through violence and other types of force compliance.
Is it truly so surprising that this idea is baked into the cake of Islam?

    • @mrcockney-nutjob3832

I bet the students that pray during THEIR break time are very respectful, and disciplined. She should be proud that teenagers choose to pray in their own time and should really provide a space for themselves to do so, instead of following the west’s secular views and teaching. I bet the girls dress decent, do not smoke or drink, same with the boys. She should be proud that they have chosen to attend her school rather than a private school. Shame on her trying to ‘fit in’ . UK is multicultural and proud, I am very proud of the UK citizens, live and let live.

If one's thinking is entirely superficial and dominated by a binary narrative, I imagine Shakespeare's plays would seem irrelevant. The first time I read Shakespeare in school, I was in 4th grade, and of course, I didn't understand "As You Like It" as I do now, but nevertheless reading and acting in "As You Like It" resonated long after. That is the marvel and universality and humanity and timeliness of Shakespeare; the human condition in all its complexity.
I do take exception to this brilliant Head's use of "sacrifice". Sacrifice means to make holy, and public schools at least in the US are secular not parochial, funded by us taxpayers. If one's religious practices are that important, then find a school that conforms to one's eating and religious practices.

Excellent interview and I hugely admire Katherine Birbalsingh. The only bit of the interview that grated, was her assertion that her brown skin was a factor in her persecution. I was really disappointed to see employing the victim narrative here, especially as I do think that if her race plays any part in this, it actually helps her. Can you imagine a white male headteacher doing what she is doing? The left would accuse him of white oppression, white privilege, cultural dominance etc etc. With Katherine - the left is not quite sure what to do with her - and of course, for the right she is especially valued, in much the same way as Kemi Badenoch is in politics.

I think KB is a libertarian. She's advocating that a group of people should be allowed to freely associate and do as they please provided it works. It's a classic example of libertarian values and the sharing of best practice. Contrast the opposite point of view: a centrally planned idetikit school template enforced by a mob and universally failing.
The true disaster is that so many people prioritise 'fairness' at the expense of success.

"A growing Islamist threat. Now, I don't mean a Muslim threat." Really? Seriously? An Islamist is a Muslim who believes Islam is true and wants to see it's teachings and laws flourish. To achieve this they are willing to engage in political activity. This could be as simple as voting for the candidate most sympathetic to that aim. Is that not the vast majority of Muslims in the UK?

    • @nikolaneberemed
      @nikolaneberemed 3 місяці тому

Your description of islamists is inaccurate - an islamist is a muslim who wants everyone to live under sharia. They have the same end goal as jihadists and the only difference is that islamists aren't willing to use force to get there. They're completely fine if they live in an islamic country, but there's no place for them in the West.

She celebrates Multi Culturalism while creating a single Culture within her school. They have to eat vegetarian because multiple cultures have eliminated all the meats (apart from Chicken). She clearly draws the line at some things. Witches and eggs. There should be a beef option and a pork option and no nonsense with different plates and kitchens. You just get to chose what you eat.

Interesting that prayer rituals were only allowed in the yard, so as not to intimidate the less observant Muslim children that wanted to eat during Ramadan, but all children have to sing "God Save the King" and "I vow to thee my Country". Bit intimidating for the young Republicans who don't believe in a monarchy.
