Shaykh Yahya Rhodus lays the foundation of Islamic Creed in Session 3 of al-Maqasid’s April 2021 retreat on Book 2 of the Ihya' 'Ulum al-Din,' Imam al-Ghazali’s masterpiece, by discussing four topics: the meaning of ‘Allah,’ the four levels of Shahada, verses in the Qur’an that assume the existence of Allah, and the Concise Creed of Imam al-Haddad.

Session 4 of book 2 is missing, in case you didn’t notice. May Allah bless you all for the tremendous work you’re carrying out for his sake.
• What do we mean by the Name "Allah". This name unites all other names of Allah into one.
Creation might have a share of the other 99 names of Allah as qualities.
Our share in the name Allah is that we worship him sincerely.
• Meaning of Laa ilaaha illallah? Negation and then affirmation, absolutely clear. There are 4 Ranks of this statement. Our aim in religion is to ascend these ranks. This blessed statement comprised all spheres Imaan, Islam and Ihsaan.
•Our fitra is to believe in Allah, but dost covers it with kufr. Kufr of desires, intellect and other things. There is a difference between using the rational mind and rationalism(Shirk-al Aql).
• By shahada , we assert our faith with certitude to others, without getting shaken by anything around us in the world. Just like how beautifully Quran assumes the existence of Allah Most High. There is no doubt as it begins with Iman - Bismillah.
• Faith is the only way to live healthy- both spiritually and physically. Veil is lifted and a person sees his result when his rooh reaches the halaq while being taken down through his feet. A true beleiver yearns to meet Allah and yearns to go to the grave.
