This was really cool, thank you! Would love to see Barcelona's evolution in this way some day
thank you for making this...!!
The metro lines of seoul are not only in seoul or state 경기. It's even in state 충천남 and state 강원
It's also in state 인천
Wow, Seoul grows very fast since 1970s.

Great to finally have a Seoul video! Amazing job :)
TMI: The lines that are numbered(2-9) are controlled by the Seoul Metro corporation, and the lines that are not numbered are mostly controlled by KORAIL(line 1 is mostly controlled by KORAIL) and often called national railway or 국철. Numbered lines are usually for connection between areas inside the Seoul city boundary, while un-numbered lines are for connection between the suburbs(doesn't feel like it because they are full of apartments) or the bigger Seoul metropolitan area, or in some cases, to other provinces. 25million people live in the Seoul metroplitan area.
Uh...As south korean, we don't calls not numbered lines in 국철. We almost don't use that word. We often call it in their name.

Thanks for covering Seoul! Really awesome system, but could you possibly do extensions on it? I really believe that the extensions are worth mentioning cuz the government is still pumping out lines consistently!
so crazy that they have multiple expansions per year. in my city the metro hasnt been upgraded since 2007. were getting a new line towards the end of the year though
South Korea has done a great job over the past decades to become one of the most developed countries. Congrats!

Love this channel, I wish switzerland had metros, but trams dominate cities here :P
This video is the most accurate subway history I've ever seen. Thank you
Waaow. I love this kind of video. Pls continue this. 😍🤗
It would be interesting to see what parts of the system are at surface level vs underground and to have a running tally of the number of stations in the network
Pretty much most of the lines within Seoul Special City proper are underground so there isn’t really much to uncover
Please!
Why you don't want to make about Madrid's Metro?
Please, make it!
I waited for that from the start!
Also me! As a Spaniard I need it.🇪🇸
Thanks for introducing our metropolitan subway system!
I belive line 6 actually opened in 3 stages, actually. bonghwasan-sangwolgok in august, then the rest in december, with 4 mid line stations opening in 2001.
also the bundang line was extened to bojong station inside the depot, untill that station was replaced by the current bojong station after then extention to gihung.
2 years ago I traveled there and was overwhelmed in the sheer amount of lines just to go around the city. Had a lot of fun though and will definitely go back when traveling ease up.... Metro's are a lot of fun and been into some interesting ones -- Bangkok, Taipei, Hongkong and Singapore.. Tokyo is next on my list...
I'm Korean, This is very cool
Fun fact: Seoul’s line 5 does not have any overground railroads except for the train storage bases. This makes it the second longest subway tunnel in the world, the first being Guangzhou’s line 3.
wow
fact : In a few years there will be several new lines, and the existing line will be extended much longer. It's still under construction.
While I do love your videos, what I'm missing here is the opening of each new station. You show the extension of the new lines from one station to the current end station but not the new stations in between which I would find as exciting to see.
역수가 너무 많아 데이터의 한계로 다 보여주기는 힘들지요

Great rapid transit system!
Legend says Line no.1 is still extending
It's actually extending 20 kilometers toward the north by december
Seoul's rail network must've hit puberty hard to be spreading this far out within a 20 year span
There are entire countries with lower track mileage than Seoul. Wow!
Seoul is the most developed metropolitan city about subways and railways in East Asia!
@@shotaro1321 "regional aspects only", China's subways are the best in Asia. Japan's subways are only extensive and have uncomfortable transit systems and complex internal structures. Taken together, Seoul > Shanghai > Tokyo ... But I think so Tokyo subway is not as good as Madrid

Love it when a metro and regional/national rail share trackage and run through services.
And looking at how rapidly the network is growing in the last decade alone, this video is set to become outdated by the end of the year!
This does also happen in Tokyo
How Seoul has changed with its own metro system. Please do Hong Kong next. And do other cities you haven’t done.

not yet opened.
FYI, that is a total length-related video produced as of the first half of 2021, and the current total length, combined with additional opening and extended routes for 1 year, would have already surpassed total 1300km. And under the assumption that 3 to 4 GTX routes, known as long-distance routes for wide-area express, and numerous under-construction areas, including new subway and LRT lines will each open, so will surpass total 2000km as early as 5 to 6 years.
Hello Metro Liner, I hope you can create an expansion animation of Manila, Philippines. We only have 4 lines built over the past 4 decades and it took so many years to build 2 additional stations for Line 1 and 2.
Next video would madrid metro
1919-2023
Meanwhile in Chicago: we've been trying and failing to expand A SINGLE LINE for the last 20 years. And we're considered one of the best metros in north america
Are you going to do any small metro systems like Vancouver, or just do the big ones like Moscow? Just wondering.
Nakakainggit talaga ito.. pag nasa Seoul ako at nakikita ko subway system nila parang 200 years ang agwat nila sa Pinas sa dami ng linya.. satin nagiisang linya abutin pa ng ilang taon 😭

It looks as if Seoul Metro preceeded South Korea’s economic boom by at least a decade. For example İstanbul Metro’s rapid expansion is basically between 2014-2030 a decade *after* Turkey began rapid economic growth, while Seoul metro’s explosion seems to be compratively earlier in regards to South Korea’s economic growth.

By the way, remember I told you yesterday that your channel is not empty, you would release videos at least once a week? So, I found you metro systems that are very simple, like Pyongyang or Glasgow (up to 40 km total length):
Sydney (Australia),
Baku (Azerbaijan),
Yerevan (Armenia),
Brussels (Belgium),
Belo Horizonte (Brazil),
Salvador (Brazil),
Budapest (Hungary),
Tbilisi (Georgia),
Mumbai (India),
Jaipur (India),
Jakarta (Indonesia),
Almaty (Kazakhstan),
Warsaw (Poland),
Novosibirsk (Russia),
Yekaterinburg (Russia),
Nizhny Novgorod (Russia),
Mecca (Saudi Arabia),
Baltimore (USA),
Dnipro (Ukraine),
Kyoto (Japan),
Marseille (France),
Helsinki (Finland).
It's such an efficient and reliable system that makes living and traveling there easy and convenient for all.
Thank you from Seoul 😉
