    I appreciate MARY GAUTHIER whom I visited in Nashville, enjoyed her sets at the Americana Festival this same year in 2018 when I was on my Road Tour soul-searching too, and it was a great alchemy to connect with MUSIC that saves our lives, including John Prine that year and so many talented Singer Songwriters that do make America so great; the country's very best export To The World without a shadow of a doubt is The Music . Thanks, Mary & Friends - I decided I had to leave my country after that road tour around the USA - 40K miles and 33 cities, 8 months later . . . I write this today, in my fifth year residing in the EU - where discretion, education, respect and appreciation of women of a certain age, conversation, dialogue, so much - are important rewarding outcomes for this Itinerant Traveler, writer, photographer, observer of this complicated, dark, complex world today in 2023 . So Admiring of writers like Mary Gauthier, our mutual Friend award-winning Singer Songwriter Eliza Gylkison . Happy Holidays and best wishes for Peace & more Love in 2024 . THANK YOU . M Sophia Santiago, Photographer & Fine Art ModeL/Muse . Provincia de Málaga, España .

    Thank you Mary Gauthier! I am a veteran that was in the audience and was very moved from your presentation and song. I have been waiting a long time for this to be released! Thank you for sharing your brokenness and your talents to help other vets!
    “We don’t diagnose we just bear witness and sit in the discomfort of the story and embrace them in love... listening allows you to have empathy and love”
    “ trauma causes the feeling of removal and separation. If you have been traumatized you can’t find your way home. And the road home is paved in empathy.”
    I don’t know you but I am grateful for you and love your heart! God bless!

    How can I get copy of “Rifles and Rosary Beads”?

    • @pocketlama
      @pocketlama 4 роки тому +8

      Thank you, Steven. I'm a lifelong civilian but I have reached for Mary's songs in Rifles and Rosary Beads like a drowning man. As someone who's the sole caregiver for my wife who has dementia and will who will soon need to go into a home of some kind I struggle to maintain my sanity, my strength, my honor, and my kindness. Mary's songs of strength in vulnerability are raw and they heal me enough to carry on some another day, and another struggle.
      Universe willing, I'll never know what it's like to be shot at and to defend the life of a comrade. What I do know is what it's like to feel alone while doing the most difficult thing I've ever even realized I could do. Caring for a companion who is a deep part of me, a deep comfort, makes me grieve from the first diagnosis, all the way through to whatever end will come. She is dying so gradually. I'm losing her like sand blowing away.
      Mary hasn't been in my particular situation that I know of but damn, she gets it. She tells the truth. Her truth and our truth. That's a gift and a dedicated songwriter.
      Good luck brother.

    I've been a fan of Mary's for decades now and did have the pleasure of seeing her at Jammin Java, where she performed (at the time) a new song, 'When A Woman Turns Cold". She is amazing. (And the word I've always used for "The Joy of Sad Songs" is melancholy. It's one of my favorite feelings.)
