You’d be surprised at how many of us from the chainsaw performance community share your ideas and videos. That said, have you any videos on fuel octane? I looked and saw nothing. Seems chainsaws like lower octane fuel mix better than high octane, yet guys continue to say race fuel is the way to go. i’d love your explanations either way. Thanks for all you do in the 2 stroke world Mike👍🏻

there can be differences in gasoline that has different octanes but the differences in burn speed may have more to do with volatility, % ethanol, and additives. So if your engine don't need the higher octane fuel and it likes the lower octane fuel then definitely go with that. :-)

@ I use 90oct Rec fuel(non eth). Others are trying to push aviation fuels etc. I’m concerned with performance due to higher heat honestly.

@@IndianaDoug a valid concern. You can get a head head temp gauge that lets you put the sensor washer at the base of the spark plug.

Above 11:1 starts to need more octane than pump gas has to offer. Lower octane gas burns easier and faster so no need to switch to something harder to light, you'll loose power running race fuel in a normal engine.
Never run reg fuel in a race gas engine. Pings and predetonation will kill the bearings, maybe even bend a rod

I'd like to add that I don't think any available "fast burn" engine oil can ever make the combustion happen as fast as that depicted on the Burn #0 graph. Castor is the best fast burn oil and I've tested those available from Dumonde Tech, Klotz, and Blendzall and all of them gave better power when the timing was retarded. And you might think that a fast burn oil is only for a high RPM engine but that's not true. My bike only revs to 7500 and it benefitted. Of course castor does leave more deposits than synthetic but if you're willing to try different retarded ignition timings to find the best one to match castor oil, then it is the way to go if you are after every little bit of possible power.
