Static is the unofficial 5th member of Jodeci. You can hear his vocals and distinct melodies on the second and third LP. D and Static made an amazing musical duo.
kafilarosa - Devante wanted them to be signed with rights to their music etc, plus big labels didn’t know how to market them / what to do with them... so Devante turned to Suge Knight and death row. They did a lot of work around that time with Devante producing Tupac’s “bring the pain & KC JOJO toss it up” etc. Suge was knows for violence etc and I think that played a part in all the artists leaving The Bassment.
This song was amazing and jodeci and the Playa should had did a album together. I knew that if the Playa would had gave next a good run for their money in a battle. Da basement vs death row soundtrack should happen. Danny boy should had got with the Playa group
it was actually produced by Darryl Pearson. Darryl worked heavily with DeVante and could replicate the same sound and vibe. dude was just as badass as the rest of the crew.
i can't figure out if i like this version or the version with ginuwine better.....this version def has that smooth vibe whereas the other version has ginuwine's epic vocals. lord help me choose!
The creativity of the Da Bassment era is unreal! Playa deserved so much more! R.I.P. Static 🕊🙏🏼
