In those developed cities of the world the government modernised them and it took them hundreds of years. In our case: in less than 10 decades since independence from colonisers who looted us and thought our leaders how to loot, Nnewi sons and daughters have managed to build 90% of what you see in this video and they deserve credit! The problem with Nnewi is familiar to the problems facing Igbo cities in Nigeria which is lack of urban planning, very poor network of roads, lack of drainage system, Nnewi citizens travels to all corners of this World and they saw how roads and streets are been constructed but they can't emulate what they met outside and put it in place back home, it baffles me that Igbos are acting that way, even the governors that schooled and lived at Overseas before becoming governors, look at Awka the Anambra State Capital, it's a shame of a Capital, for 21 years as Capital, Eke Awka are yet to be built. These days Anambra State is just producing NOICE MAKERS and thieves as Governors. When they're outside, they will be very articulated, meaningful, calculative and wise but as soon as they are sworn in they become clueless, stupid, foolish, even wicked and negative towards every meaningful developmental projects, is there any curse on whoever should be governor at Awka??

Apart from that, we need to pay attention to town planning and orderliness while building houses. Imagine how much more beautiful Nnewi would have been if the houses were arranged in a grid-like fashion? Even as we are waiting for when dualised and modern roads will come, our cities, towns and villages would have looked much better if houses were not built haphazardly, and without recourse to orderliness. This is a common problem in Igbo land. We are trying as individuals but our governments are failing us.

The car factories in Japan cost about 2 billion dollars to build. I'm not sure that innoson factory is upto 10 million dollars. When I was a little kid growing up in aba in the early seventies, I remember hearing such slogans from aba people claiming that the city was the Taiwan of Africa. It's only when you go overseas that you understand such comparisons to be a comical joke. We haven't even done the basics not to talk of comparing ourselves with first world industrial powers.
