Great video. After hitting the drop shot, where do you want to position yourself on the court? Stay close to net to be prepared for a weak return if opponent does get to ball?
Thanks Paul, always a good idea to follow your dropshot in. The best defense against a dropshot is another dropshot if the player elects to stay back. You want to hover just inside the service line and watch the visual cues as the opponent is running for the ball. Be prepared to pinch cut off the angle if the opponent gets to the ball. If they have their palm up they could flip the ball up for a lob as well. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
Nate, thanks for the tips. I find that it is more challenging to hit a drop shot against a ball that is incoming and not self fed. Any further tips you can add for that scenario? Thanks!
Hey Charles, establish the feel from a drop feed and then work up to a live ball in practice. Focus on establishing the feet and keeping the hands soft. Your contact will be a little higher here as well. Hope this helps!

Thank you for the lesson. For drop shots, do you squeeze the handle the same as any other shot or do you loosen up a little?
Hi JR, great question. On touch shots it's important to keep the hands soft so there won't be nearly as much of a squeeze as what you would find on a volley when defending pace. Hope this helps!

I am from the Uk and play tennis on concrete courts, what is the biggest difference between concrete and hard courts like yours?
Concrete courts will cause the ball to bounce higher so definitely be selective when using the dropshot. Thanks for the question and for watching!
6:18 I thought drop shooting cross court was a good idea because they don't pick up on it as much your opponent I'm meaning? I learned this from Kevin Garlington of essential tennis and total tennis domination.
