Hall & Oates along with Eddie Kendrick and David Ruffin performing "Every Time You Go Away" in the Fred Meyer ad. The song was written by Daryl Hall and appears on their 1980 album Voices. Paul Young's remake went to number one earlier in '85.
Lol at the octopus pants the chefs are wearing, you are not seeing things , hope the cooks at Sea Galley didn’t have to wear them for real back then, never heard of Sea Galley btw( or Skipper’s either) , but I live in Memphis ..
Santa Claus: The Movie...Such a bizarre film, where Santa is treated almost like a superhero. It's a literal origin story, and then he has to save some kids and one of his elves from an evil toymaker played by an over the top John Lithgow. It's such a huge piece of 80s cheese. I guess it's not surprising that it's essentially a Santa superhero movie, since the people behind the original Superman movies were behind it. Forgot McDonald's had a promotion with it.
The Coke commercial brought back a flood of memories!

These are from Sunday, 12/15/85. "San Antonio" aired at 8 PM.
1:48 Pace Commercial the late great Jan Hooks. She was part of arguably the greatest SNL cast ever.
Sea Galley and those crazy uniforms - looks like something that you'd see in a sitcom of the period!
I just wonder if that's what the employees there actually wore or if it was just something crazy cooked up for the commercial.
@14:47 nowadays (2019) someone would come and steal that gift before he opened the door lol ...
Marty drove a 1985 Toyota Hi-Lux pickup Deluxe 4x4 Xtracab.
$5 for Whitney Houston’s first album, great prices back then, I remember being mad when they raised the album prices to around $8 ..
04:12 - the pizza cutter looking tool is used to put the spline in a window screen. How many kids asked for a new window screen??
Hey, the guy in the diet coke comm was shedder's right hand man in the teenage mutant ninja turtles live action movie

It is definitely a strange movie but I enjoy it for the cheese factor and Dudley Moore and Lithgow are pretty great in it.
Plus it has The Big Lewbowski as Santa!
The Gillette commercial , they had wind power back then I see ..
