This game is a classic played it on the ps2 the nostalgia hits me like a train at the near the beginning of the game crabs were scary for me when I was younger because it wasn't in HD on one of those box's TVs I remember they look terrifying.
it’s actually incredible how well made this game is for 2005. It also does the movie justice in many positive ways. So many memories of dying and be scared as a kid trying to play this. Good times

What are you talking about ? Every game back then was well made because there was a thing actually called "deadlines". Games today are the ones that should be surprisingly well made since there are no deadlines anymore and game devs can just work on the game even after release.
I played this game over and over as a kid. Absolute masterpiece. Used to love playing the ending as kong on the skyscraper, tried my damndest to survive and not let my monkey hero die

I played it for about 2 hours on release and thought it was a cheap film game. I guess I'm missing something
even back in 2005, this was a game that felt truly "next-gen" to me; good graphics, follows many aspects of a movie I loved, included a bunch of the original actors, and not having a hud was completely new to me at the time

The way the voice acting and the atmosphere come together is awesome. Creeping alone through a dark cave with the only audible noise being water droplets hitting the cave floor and Jack’s ragged, terrified breathing. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.
The voice acting was surprisingly very fucking good lol. One thing I remember the most was Jack Black’s character haha
Couldn’t agree more, 9.999999/10 times video game of the movie games suck ass & are usually unplayable, the voice actors usually completely phone in their performance especially if it’s the original actor from the movie but King Kong was amazing in terms of gameplay, graphics, replay factor & voice acting.

@@xJakeeyy yes me too, I had so much fun with this game growing up to the point my mum bought it for me on like 3 separate consoles without even realising 😂 I played the fuck out of it on original Xbox, nothing was quite as fun and rewarding as a kid playing these games that had shit tons of unlocks, secrets, the museum you could visit, secret endings that had another secret ending within it, honestly had so much to offer, it’s like the Spider-Man 1 game, they made an entire secondary story with the green goblin unlock & a different fighting system too for a Damn secret, mid to early 2000’s games had the best secrets Easter eggs and cheats honestly, was really disappointed with the cheats in gta 5 when it came out

14:46 I love the small details they put in this game. You can see the spear he throws at the giant centipede actually nails that part of the centipede to the ground so it can't move.

This is hands down one of the best games ever made! I love this game so much, literally was scared so much at certain parts and so hype at other parts. Such an amazing experience and can never forget how it made me felt.

Same, this game was offered with the PS2 that I bought so I finished it again and again and again. I knew the perfect path, where and when each enemy would spawn. I could just sprint through every level. Now that I think of it I was speedrunning the game without realising it
the wooden spears are stronger than the bone spears though.
I’m 28 now and had this when it first came out on ps2 and I’ve spent hundreds of hours playing it. The mechanics this game had back then we’re mind blowing at the time and the different play styles mixed with the voice acting and setting brought everything together perfectly. I’d cash out for a modern remaster for sure. I also loved the cheat cods KKTGun with god mode was cool to use while taking on the vrex’s

Ha! I'm 27 and I had this too when it first came out. I remember my copy of the game came with a ticket to go see the movie. Funnily enough my Movie Theater accepted it. Yup got mentally scarred by some of the scenes. Game was great though.

bruhh, as a kid the feeling of being chased behind by any of the dinos, specially the t rex was one of the most scary things i've experienced playing games ever. i think because of this game i still have that specific phobia now at my 23

Funny, because terrifying as this game was for me as a kid, playing it was what made me stop having nightmares about dinosaurs. Land Before Time was what originally put 'sharptooth' dinos in my dreams. After playing this game, I had one last dinosaur dream where I killed them with flaming spears. No BS

One great thing about not being on the internet so much back then was that playing as kong was a complete surprise, and what a surprise it was!

This game, alongside LOTR: The Return of the King; Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Star Wars Episode III are top-tier examples of great games based on movies IMO.
@@loganpowers1999 Nah, I know exactly what they mean because it was the same for me. Once you get in the jungle, the game gets 10x creepier. I didn't play past the 'Hayes' level until a friend came over because I was so freaked out by the venatosaurus.
The roar effect from the v-rex is still one of the best depictions of primal fear I've seen in a game. It's so simple, but shows how your body would naturally react from a huge predator hunting you down.
I played this game as a kid for hours and hours, nothing makes me smile harder then seeing this old gem pulled out of the ashes of gaming history….. love it

There is not a single shooter that I've played in my life that left as strong of an impression on me as this game, the jungle setting feels dangerous just from the weather and scenerio's you're put through. Animations are absolutely solid from the gunplay to spearing enemies, atmosphere could switch from peak action to horror setting on a dime. This deserves a remaster of some kind, I feel like a full on remake would ruin it since modern devs don't get it anymore

One of the best video games ever made. I used to get back from swimming class on a Sunday and eat my food from the bakery whilst playing this game. Great memories, and yes it did terrify me but I loved it.

Honestly I’m so happy that people are shining light on this game. My parents unironically got the games for my brothers and I on release and it actually came with a code to an online movie ticket to see King Kong. One of the best movie adaptations, and honestly underrated
Played this on my xbox gen 1 way back 11 years ago. Im happy I was able to experience playing this game during those years. Truly a gem for those kinds of games. The best part of this game for me was when you play as kong beating up thos dinosaurs. Man, what a memory!

The way this game instills fear into you as a child is amazing. The music, the silence and the breathing while crouched. This was an amazing game. Im so happy i played it as a kid for the gamecube. Id be thrilled to see a full playthrough!
It's helped a lot by the fact that the gameplay is actually very forgiving for the most part if you really look at it. In that sense, it's actually pretty child-friendly.

Two things I really liked about the game. Firstly, the game doesn't tell you how much ammo you have. Jack has to check and tell the player. More realistic and it could cost you dearly if you didn't check for a while or forgot. Secondly, is the aspect of the food chain. Few games implement it as well as it is done here.

There needs to be more dinosaur horror games. This legit is the only one I recall releasing. Capacom needs to revive the Dino crisis series.
My 11 year old self used to LOVE playing this game while being scared shitless at the same time lol. One of the few games engraved in my memory. The recent remaster of Shadow of the Colossus gives me hope that this gem will be remastered as well in the future.
This game was AMAZING. Terrifyingly atmospheric and one of the best examples of how good video game movies used to be back in the day when you had the actors do the voice acting.

Played this game so many times, and opted for the alt ending when I could. The journey is scary, claustrophobic at times, and the survival aspect often left us pulling desperate moves to get out of hairy situations. Still looks incredible.
