You got it man! Keep at it, it gets easier! Stoked we helped ruin your life 😂😂😂
Hey buddy! I very much appreciate your teachings. Thanks for ruining my life as well!
and every one in the family gets a bowl this coming Christmas wooo !!!
Karl is amazing teacher for being young. I watch him regularly. He has some great teaching videos just using hand tools. Also more teachers are Lazze and Wray Scheline
scott from coldwarmotors would be proud. now you can make your own diff covers lol
Keep following karls and Brent's advice I think they are great teachers
Watching a grown man beating on his stump, what has my life become? Karl and Brent have a gift.
Cool to have that opportunity to learn from a master like Japhands
Scott at Cold War Motors is a master of this craft. I know you watch him. Keep it up man! Your content gets better all the time.
I know that feeling, exactly. I took the Vegas class. I could do the shrinks but I needed Carl or Cristian to point out to me what I needed, where, and how close I was to the shape. Puting shape in is easy, converting that shape to form is hard. They'd eye it, give it a tweak in their hands or over a thigh and suddenly the form was there.
A ball hitch on your bench is very useful for rounds
Fitzee is a pretty good metal magician too. It would be cool to have a Canadian UA-cam metal master class. I know the country is too big and way too much driving even if it was in the centre of the country. Just to talk to all these great fabricators would be awesome! Nice job on the patch panel!
Bad Chad is the one who uses the concrete floor in his shop to form metal and see all the custom cars he builds without fancy tools
Also from Canada🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
@jdfmfb03 Chad makes crazy unique stuff but it's not even close to the level of quality that Karl does. You go to Chad when you want to make a statement for $20000. You go to Karl when you've got 100k and want your great grandchildren to enjoy it too.
it is amazing how most of the really interesting and talented fabricators all seem to be Canadian.
Practice practice practice, the more you do it the better to get and the more confidence you'll have. I've been building Rusty trucks for forty years and I've never bought a patch panel. Great job and a cool video 👍✌️🇺🇲
Shoulda negotiated a stump like i did😂. I have been dabbling since i got home after the class.
When in doubt Dan shmoo it! It was quality time with quality guys!😎
I think that once you put the initial crease in the disk, you hammer the OUTSIDE peak down flattish. That "pins" the circumference down, and when you beat the high ridge, it forces the metal thicker, shrinking it. (At least that's how I remember it from a Karl video.)
Pretty good, Dan!
Everything is going to take practice. Take care of yourself and the family and God bless you Dan!
ever watch scott "cold war mottors? make rear quarter parts for his 59 fury..... made on a stump
I know exactly how you feel Dan... I took Gene Winfield's Metal Working Class in April and basically learned alot more things for me to do poorly.
This episode felt like when I first began watching this channel: learning and teaching-loved it Dan!
no bad work. my dad and my uncle made there hood scopes that way. they had two or three oval track race cars 1/4 mile.
Looks good sir. Keep it up and you'll be DD Coachbuilding Shop in no time!
When Karl mentioned working with you at HAK I was like, he must have misspoke? But now here we are and you're taking it up another level, haha. Awesome!
Hey Dan, for someone that built his own (RIP) tow truck, you should build a planishing hammer like Brents! That would be awesome. 😎
Pretty cool, man. Now, make a bowl.
I bought the same cheap wheel as you after I did a two day course, and after I straightened the wheels, it works pretty well!
Thanks for taking the time to show us this. I now have a better understanding of what to do with shaping metal. The paper template is definitely something I've never seen before but it really makes it easy to find you starting points. Keep up the great work
Those paper templates are suppose to be made out of beer cartons. You failed the class😮
Really cool work. I've always wanted to learn how to do that. The top of the fender that's rusted out behind the headlights of every 56 Chevy was the first thing that came to mind. I remember that on your last build, they only had one side in stock and they were ridiculously expensive. Being able to pop those out without being at the mercy of the repro people would be really useful.
this was the neatest thing i have seen you do. gaining knowledge is all ways a bingo. thank you
I started to turn this off several times, but then watched some more and at the end, happy I stuck with it! It is amazing how the metal moves around.
Nice work Dan. "It's better to whole-ass one thing, than to half-ass multiple things...."😀
GOOD JOB!
"I'm sweating"...too GD funny!! Dan's the man
Dan you did a awesome job, for a beginner. I watch all your videos. I learn alot from you. Your wife is so amazingly cool too .keep up the amazing work you do and God Bless to you and your family. I AM A very very huge fan of all your videos. Mike Foit from Athens, Ohio.
DD fancy shop 😆 if I bring cookies... I could make use of them fancy tools 😅 here I'm welding less rusty steels to more rusty steel 🤣
Dan, looks like you're just about ready to make and sell some D&D Speed Shop hubcaps! Keep up the good work Buddy!
Glad to see all the new tools. Metal working is so rewarding and fun to start with nothing and end up with something you made with your own hands 👐 👍
Very KOOL Video Dan Nice bowl you made Dani And the class you did must have been a great time with Karl and Brent
Ok Dan. Sounds good 7th grade metal shop used wood mallets & anvils. Worked great 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎
this was a most excellent video and it always looks easier than it is anyhow. am not yet where you are with it, but am trying persistently. Keep up the great vids.
It’s very relaxing watching all the debris on your workbench dance around while you murder that metal!
I’ve been watching Make it Kustom for a while now. And I can still barely pop the dent back out of a soda can.😂
Great Dan the more you learn the better the build keep it up love your videos
Great info. You learn something everyday.
Hey Dan
You got this.
Thanks for sharing.
Take care of yourself 😊
Dan I thank-you for the Delta Pag fan tip...I talked to John yesterday and told him you referred him.I should receive it in a couple weeks for a 69 Dodge motorhome with a 360 v8.Peace❤
I made 10 custom mini bike seat pans for a buddy of mine. The first 2 were out of 1/16 aluminum and the next 4 I did out of 14 ga cr and the last 4 was out of 16 ga stainless steel. I used the vice, wood bench, padded bar stool and my leg to stretch and shrink to get it to the contour and shape we wanted it to be. The aluminum worked fast and wasn’t as forgiving when over worked. It did give a bit of insight as to how far is to far though. We were also in high school when we did all this. I haven’t really done any real forming work since then either.
I did a little sand bag and English wheel work, the Plenishing hammer was ME and various die's! Fortunately, the cars I worked on weren't full of curves, like the '47 or the Tri 5's. 60's and 70's cars weren't as curvy. I do remember getting arm pump and waking up sore but, if you put the time in, it is a lot nicer than a puddy patch.
Good for u Dan.A new skill.
Glad to see you are extending your skills
Dan! Dan! The body-man!
Hey Dan, not bad for a second bowl. All you need to do is keep at it for many more years and you will get there. Remember Brent and Karl have been at it for a while. Follow their advice and practice. You'll get there. Before you know it you'll be a fabricator and a better body man. Thanks and we'll see you next time.
Good video ! Always doing interesting things ! 👍
Great work Dan, thanks for the real life demo, especially seeing the finished bowl you made during the course, showing it can be done.
Then the bowl (candy dish) and body panel, inspiring. ;-)
Maybe make "DD" dog dish hub caps? ;-D
I like the Dan's class. You get so much info on so many subjects.
Adding a new skill set. Always a useful thing. Congrats.
I'm glad to see you at Brent's when Karl was visiting. I envy the opportunity you had to be there. Many of us can't be bothered to get things right. Most of the Chinesium panels that we can buy for our wrecks need a lot of work to make them fit. I used to do a lot of hammer banging on metal and became lazy. Keep up the metal forming thing Dan and you will master it.
Thanks for sharing
Good video , metal work of any kind i find addicting , and i like your tool shed addition thats cool . I also like how you make use of every space you have . Good work Dan
I know you have been wanting to get a class from fisher for a while, and I’m glad to see you did. I’m also glad that you are growing as a sheet metal guy. There has been many occasions were I’ve seen that bead roller hanging on the wall and screaming at the screen to use it. It would make your job easier! So good job man!
The only way to learn is by trying it.
I just made a set of trailer fenders out of an old furnace door with my new shrinker/stretcher.
Keep at it, it'll get better.
Well done.
This is good. Thanks for this. ❤❤❤❤❤
Ron Berry, a Utah car builder makes amazing vehicles by hand. He would be the guy to see for techniques and tips.
Damn fine Job Dan,
I recall that Karl captured the tuck by beating down the tip of the tuck first and that helped shrink that metal in more quickly.
Great effort on the brow panel also and if you used your ball pran hammer on the steel top table you would stretch that reverse curve rather quickly also.
I reckon another half hour and you would have it.
As Karl, Brent and Wray Schein all say practice practise practise. And patience which I know you struggle with 😅
I remember making a dish in high school . Great video Dan . Cheers 🇨🇦
Great idea to learn as this will expand knowledge and helping people on the channel !! Can’t wait to c this going forward.. cheers 🍻
Great job! I wish I saw that class was up, I woulda went!
Always a good day when you learn to do something new.
It was great to see you take this on as a sort of beginner and to share what you've learned so far. it shares what a realistic experience might be like for a viewer to try a similar project. great job on the headlight panel. I wonder how long it took you.
Cool man nice work.
Thanks for another great video! Been a subscriber of Jap Hands for years, that dude is talented
I’ve always seen videos of Jesse James (I know 🙄) annealing the metal with a torch set up very smokey. I believe this softens the metal making easier to form. Of course I’m an idiot on the internet who’s never done anything like this. Great video.
It's as simple as you said Dan, the more you do it and practice, the better you become...now easier said than done!. But, it seems as though this is something you are interested in doing, so I'd say keep doing! Again I really did enjoy this!
🇨🇦🇺🇲💯✌
Get yourself an "English Stump"!
You get new rims & tires for the 47
Karl is a master at what he does his work is just brilliant and his tutorial in showing makes it so easy I have learnt so much from him also love his videos so relaxing
Good job bro DD’s Fab shop!
i wish i knew and i went to the class. great work showing this, now i need more tools. love than dani just hanging out in the back.
Good to see you taking your hobby to the next level!! Practice makes perfect. You got 2 minty dudes to learn from.
Turned out good Dan. Keep at it and you will get good at it. Like the old saying goes practice makes perfect. It also a great trade to have. 👍😎✌️
It looks good Dan you have to start somewhere I have always been told you never stop learning.
you're good student Karl the great instructor. Also the shop is looking mint job done!
You are doing good Dan practice make perfect and you had two Great teachers I don't think there is anything thing Karl and Brent can not do or figure out. I believe any body can do about anything thing if they put their mind to it and doesn't say I can't do it. Have a great day
When I was a kid I had a little Caribbean tin drum from Barbados, It was hand hammered and the thing was just like a little bowl hand hammered with a stiffening ring on the outside welded to it. Where the metal was hammered thinner it had different tones, great little instrument!
tbh, Scott from CWM is the best tin knocker and body man i've seen... and in alberta... worth a trip!!
See you got your wheels back . Hope there balanced proper ehh. 🤪🤘
Great show keep up the good work be safe my friends God bless all works of art when you are done
Congrats on your new skills!
Hey Dan you did ok you showed some of what you learned
You know what works better than those fancy metal bender mo chines. Me watching your ads the whole way through, boyyyy!
Great video! Shows that you can accomplish the same goal via different combinations of tools and time: More tools, less time! Even with lots of tools, moving metal around without ending up with a "bag of walnuts" look takes time and patience. :>)
Dan these cars will take twice as long to get done. Haha. Have a good day
Cool information video Danny
Good job.
You went to a good class He’s really good at metal shaping . Nice thing to get good at .
Can’t wait to see how much this improves your body working skills
Nice work..😎
Take this from an old framing carpenter. Hold that hammer towards the end of the hammer. You’ll be less tired and more accurate with your blows.
Yeah, flick your wrist and fling the head of the hammer into the work. Much less arm muscle strain!
Like dad said “either the tool does the work or the fool does the work, I’d let ya choose but I ain’t got time for your bs gd kids ain’t worth a bump on a lo…. rhaaa rhaaa something something” & then I’d duck, miss that guy
Truth
@@patrickancona1193 LMAO, 100%
@@patrickancona1193🗿 Patrick, are you my brother lol😂
