Youre really good at talking on camera. Seems like it comes super natural to you. Reminds me of when i started watching Adam. One of those people you can just tell have the talent for it.
I really enjoyed this video. It's very relaxing and soothing to watch while being educational. I feel I learned enough to start collecting moss and make a miniature indoor garden!
It's always a good idea to clean such plastic boxes with water and a bit of dish cleaner and clear water afterwards, before using. Most of this boxes are covered in some kind of gunk that makes it feel very slippy when it gets wet. Possibly it's for getting this things out of it's mold easier during the production process, possibly it's residues of a detergent, I just can't tell for sure.
I bought a bunch of moss off of Amazon and I do have several species of springtails that I bought around the same time that I am culturing and was debating adding some to the moss propagation boxes. Seems like a good idea and then when I use it in terrarium builds some springtail end up in the build even before I add them the conventional way. Good video thanks. Oh and I obsessively check my moss too. Seems a natural hazard for those of us who are curious about our collections. 🙂
I cant even cap i just subscribed but you’re beautiful asf I wouldn’t even expect u to be messing with stuff like reptiles and stuff like this but keep grinding gang
I have a question. This isn't the first Miss Propagation Video I have watched (but it might be the best.) In every video, the "propagation" box is completely filled with moss. Doesn't this make it a "Moss Storage Box" since there is no room for new moss to propagate and spread? If one leaves space, will the moss spread?
Thank you for watching! In my experience, I’ve always had some moss die-off during the initial acclimation period (especially if harvested in very cold temperatures). This leaves “empty” patches for the surviving moss to spread over. I also use moss quite regularly, so my box doesn’t stay this full for long! 😊

@@kaylaroach thanks. Does the cushion moss get bigger eventually? Provided with optimum conditions, how long does it take for them to grow? I’m asking because I’ve just started a propagation box but I spaced them apart thinking they will grow.
MOOOOSSSSS!!!!!, ooooh since you add a charcoal layer, you can add the springtail culture in that layer i find it helps establish the colony, same environment for Springtaillettes or bebe springtails 😁

This is so relaxing to watch. Iv'e been thinking on doing something similar. Is there a certain temperature to collect the moss? I mean can it die if its too cold when collected.
I’m glad you enjoyed it ☺️ In my experience, moss adapts better indoors when it’s been collected in warmer temperatures. But I’ve also collected dormant moss in the middle of Canadian winter and brought it back to life, it just takes more patience! 🌱
Good information! I am going to try a method to propagate moss on a large scale on my property using a method I found online. Blending the moss with buttermilk and spraying it over the desired area. We'll see how it goes!
I love this video!! So I got all supplies for terrariums about 6 months ago and then never made one bc I was nervous 🤣 so I made my moss prop box and honestly I have checked on it much at all. Only when I’m super curious what’s going on in there. It’s all on sphagnum moss and staying nice and earthy and moist. Definitely need to aerate more and I think I need more light bc some of the species are browning. Is that all I need to do to help the browning? Or should I take those out. Most are green and growing.
I truly enjoyed this, thank you so much. I don't have any like this in a container. Might do one in s jar. Also i do just have a small mixture of moss ive collected thats growing in my pot that has Venus flytraps. Maybe ill do short video later showing it.
Moss mats is something im going/already have kinda done Some of my old detailing towels left in the yard are covered and as a towel its flexible/shapeable. Going to grow "wild caught" moss on used styrofoam plates and see if i can experiment growing rates. 🤘😆🤘

So, I’m perplexed. You filled up an entire bin with various types of moss, so how does it propagate? There’s no room for it to grow out. Thinking about this I would purchase a few containers and place same section (s) in one container only leaving a lot of room for it to actually grow out aka “propagate”

Awesome video but springtails do not eat mold. They will dramatically reduce mold in an environment by consuming material that without them, would start to mold. But if you had a moldy container and you released springtails in that container they would die. So if you do see mold with your springtails don't leave it for them to eat because it may just out compete them leading to a die off.
Very cool video but I never understand why people jam so much moss into a moss propagation bin. I thought the idea was for the moss to grow out and produce more. This is more like moss housing😊

how do you go about harvesting it? just taking from the center? and how often should you harvest it does that just depend on how fast it grows?
