Wow. Talk about memory lane. My father was one of the architects working for MKDC - we moved there in the very early 70's. I went to Simpson, and then was at Stantonbury when it first opened. I left MK in the 1990 moving to the USA where I have resided since. I get back to MK every year to see all my family. This makes me miss it just a little more as I remember all those sights. Awesome ( I think )

Nice to see how things used to be....Mk is still ahead of its time, shame about the areas which have fallen to disrepair, the ocuncil need to remember what MK was all about, giving the youth of today and tomorrow a opportunity unlike anywhere else!

It was mid 70's as so many Londoners were moving to Milton Keynes I left it and moved to London. I'm still swimming against the tide in life!

I can relate to every one of thise pictures in this video. Born in Bletchley, I saw all this happening around me. The 70`s and 80`s was a great time there, but as times moved on, so did I. Moved from MK in 1995 and moved from UK in 2005. Come back now and again, great memories ,Thanks Lee for all of these.

Billiantly put together. Having never been there before October, I have been working in MK for the last 6 months and fascinated y its growth. I remember the 70s and 80s ads try to tempt people to come and live there.

Fantastic! Love MK, my Grampa farmed the land before it was built on, and hated it as it got bought up and developed. I love it, its a great place to live and work, got alot going for it in so many ways. Cannot believe they took down the pyramid at Bletchley recently! Some great childhood memories. And great grown up memories too! Brilliant place.

I grew up in MK in the early 80's and I remember a lot of this.

I remember this. There was a great futuristic buzz about the place, so it's sad to see that places like Bletchley Leisure Centre, the Agora and the Point got dated so quickly. MK in 80s was like Dubai is today. Makes you wonder what people will make of Dubai in 30 years time ...

Excellent! But also sad to see all those estates - Beanhill, Netherfield, Fullershit looking so new and exciting. We all know what craphole they are now.

Its just a shame we never got that monorail! Would have been much better than our rubbish bus system.

Unusual phenomenon - listen to someone slagging off Milton Keynes and then just ask them where they come from. Shuts them up straight away. Stange but true....

I've been in MK 15 years and cant think of a better place with such a mix of opportunities, sure there are some nicer places around the UK with more natural beauty but no jobs. One question thou, where havent we got a mono rail system linking the coach way to the Bowl going throu the centre & railway station?

Such a nice futuristic idea. Shame Milton Keynes turned out to be a culturally void chav camp.

The book is about MK in the 1970s. Hence, why no 80s or 90s.
