It's RD's music...no doubt about it.With all the due respect to great musicians Basu and Monohari, if they were so much talented then they would have been famous like Laxmi-Pyare or Kalyanji-Anandji. RD was very generous to help his assistants without claiming any name for him.He even played Mouth Organ for LP in "Dosti".RD was truly great.

Bro, I think you have a very poor understanding of the difference between a music composer and musicians ...Our Pancham da (R.D.) was a composer and Basu da(Celist)-Manohari saab(saxophonist) were musicians (instrumentalist)....but at times musicians can be composers that Basu-Manohari was... Do u know Stephen Devassahi, Keba Jeremiah, Surojit Chatterjee ..they make what AR-Rahaman is...it was the same

Nilanjan,They were indeed 2 different persons as Archisman Mozumder has posted above, Basu Chakravarti independently composed the music for "Zameer".(Tum bhi chalo, hum bhi chalein.. etc.) Manohari Singh was the legendary musician who mostly played the Saxophone & English Flute. Both Basu & Manohari were RD's assistants & stuck with him. For "Sabse Bada Rupaiya" Basu & Manohari came together. Contd-2
Music of Zameer was composed by Swapan Chakraborty, another gem of Burmans’ Camp🙏🙏
RDB had a big heart....he gave his assistants to Shyamal Mitra when he was composing for Amanush.....similarly he gave break to Basu Manohari for sabse bada rupaiya thru Mahmood....so other MD gave independent chance to their assistants.....

They charged no doubt but they sang from their heart which came across explicitly in the songs they sang. Unfortunately present day singers only have money, albums, trending news etc on their minds.
