    Awesome video Al👍, my friend has had that problem of hot water coming out of the vent pipe on the F&E cistern. I thought air was getting into the central heating circuit and causing the boiler to overheat and shut down. I hadn't considered a blockage on the system. Thanks you.🔥👊👍

    Hi, great video, however my problem of very hot water filling the F&E was solved by turning the pump speed to the lowest setting...also gave the pump a clean out and checked its muscle by sticking a screwdriver in while it was operating.

    Great video Question for you . I think my cylinder needs replacing because it is exactly how you described the problem. a heating engineer didn't listen to me when I explained and described the problems he went up the loft and said he bent the ball valve arm in the F&E tank ?? to stop it leaking but it never stopped and has condemned my boiler which I will have to replace.
    My question is will a new boiler rectify this ? if my cylinder coil has gone a new boiler wont fix the problem will it ? PLEASE REPLY 😁😁

    Hi Dereton ,Silly Question , how could you diagnose if it was the cylinder at fault, or sludge in the system , is there a simple test , ie would switching of the boiler, stop the overflow problem thus indicating it could be the cylinder problem , know nothing about plumbing ,many thanks in advance .

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  4 роки тому

      Yes if it runs when the boiler is off then it is this problem.

    Hi Al, ive had my cylinder and boiler replaced and I've got this problem, I syphoned some of the water out but it fills up and drips constantly out the overflow pipe. it's not the ball valve, I've checked that.......any ideas ?

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  2 роки тому

      As you have had your cylinder replaced it cannot be the inner coil. So check you do not have an over heating problem where the tank fills up via the expansion pipe going into the tank.

    Hi there I seem to have this issue but with the expansion loop on the main bigger tank causing overflow for a while. Now I removed main tank by giving main feed to the single exit pipe at the bottom but I am getting constant hot water out the expansion pipe. So that may be an underlying issue. The other issue is I believe this is a vented system so do I need a expansion vessel? I'm not too good with these normally I work on combi systems.

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  4 роки тому

      Did you connect the main supply to the cold feed to the cylinder if you did you may well blow the hot tank apart as well as that water venting, the central heating boiler could also blow under mains pressure. Yes you do need an expansion vessel. If you have no experience with these systems leave them alone

    I have this same kind of system with the 2 tanks in the loft but I have a different problem. I was getting a lot of funny noises coming from the hot water tank and some of my radiators were a bit colder than others. So I bled the radiators that had trapped air but now my boiler won't come on so I have no hot water or heating! I had the same problem once before and managed to get it working by pouring buckets of water into the smaller loft tank. I'm sure this can't be the proper solution. The ball valve is floating in the air, not sitting in the water, maybe this could be a problem? Any advise would be so much appreciated!

      Give the valve a wiggle up and down and it should start to fill and work again.

    Hi Deretoon33 thank you for your videos they're fabulous!
    I'm wondering if you can help with a problem.
    I recently had a leak on an underfloor copper pipe in the bedroom that got resolved by a plumber. However, I don't have any hot water or radiators now.
    I have a back boiler.
    I have tried resetting the programmer but that didn't work.
    Went into the loft today and noticed the f and e tank water level was below the outlet hole and what appeared to be reminisce of a previous water line, and the ball float was low. Wobbling the float didn't make a differenc, no water was coming into the tank. I thought I might need a new ball cock float but not being a plumber thought it strange that the water wasn't coming in to the expansion tank. I followed the inlet supply pipe feed from the expansion tank that lead me to the main tank like a 2 way valve with a tap on it so naturally checked to see if the tap was in the open position (although nobody's been in the loft). The tap was so stiff I tried to turn it gently with some pliers and it managed to move but I also noticed the tap was entirely in the off position so water could come into the main cistern tank but not the f and e tank.
    The f and e tank is now filled and the ball cock does work but I think it's strange that the radiators and hot water have been working since I bought the house and moved in over a year ago, is it possible for the heating and hot water to work when technically the supply to the f and e tank was off but the supply to the main big btank was on? It looked like it had been off for a very long time.
    I also bled all the radiators just in case but only the usual bedroom and bathroom radiator let lots of air out.
    The back boiler seems to have fired up and heating water for the moment but and worried what might have caused the boiler to stop working since the problem only seemed to arrise once the leak was fixed as the plumber wasn't called out about the boiler and I now can't get hold of him.
    Hope this makes sense?
    Any help and wisdom appreciated.
    Thank you

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  4 роки тому

      The water even when turned off to the F and E tank would last quite a long time. If you start to get an overflow from that tank, then you will know the reason was because the inner coil of the cylinder is gone.

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  2 роки тому

      If it is that much then it could be the valve in the main roof tank, If it was hot water then the boiler is overheating.
