If Jeet Kune Do can be likened to “fencing without a foil”, then the anatomical equivalent to the point of the fencer’s foil is the “Biu Jee” or Finger Jab.
Bruce Lee's JKD Finger Jab is the longest hand tool available and therefore one of the preferred intercepting tools (second only to the Shin/Knee Side Kick, or in our case specifically, the Leg Obstruction). The primary target is the eyes.
One of Dan Lok’s passions in life is martial arts. Like many young kids, after watching a Bruce Lee movie, it changed his life forever. At 17 years old, Dan started training in martial arts seriously because he was being bullied in school. It wasn’t long for Dan to learn the techniques he needed, and gain the confidence necessary to defend himself.
Dan has studied with legendary martial artist such as Bruce Lee’s original student Ted Wong (tedwongjkd.net) and Joe Lewis “The Worlds Greatest Fighter” (joelewisassocia...), making him a second generation student of Bruce Lee - in Bruce Lee's authentic art of Jeet Kune Do (JKD). He's also a third generation student of Ip Man (Wing Chun Kung Fu).
Dan has also trained with other great instructors like Sifu Adam Chan (www.pragmaticm...), Canadian lightweight boxing champion Tony "Fire Kid" Pep ( / pepboxing , and Octavio Quintero (www.theartofjk...)
For Dan, martial arts training permeates every area of life. It’s not a hobby, it’s a way of life, and it influences how he does business.
Martial arts gave him the confidence, focus, and patience to push through these obstacles and to keep fighting when he felt like giving up.

Sifu Lok, I found your videos and I am very excited to watch each and every one numerous times. I have learned some Wing Chun when I was younger but I had a big issue following through with things but now that I'm 42 I'm wanting to train and get back into it and I found your videos truly informative. In my location there is no one to learn from if there is a way for me to learn from you I would love to get in contact with you and speak further. I've had a lot of issues physically and mentally throughout my life and to have martial arts back in my life is truly motivating. Having martial arts to help me to overcome the horrible depression that I dealt with years ago where I was almost giving up and taking my own life, is very important to me. It wasnt easy to break that mindset years ago Im glad I did though, Sifu, it was rough on me. To be able to strengthen my mind and body is truly exciting for me. I heard you mention an ancient Chinese medicine but I don't know what that is would love to learn more about that as well. If there is any way you could help me I would truly appreciate it. God bless my friend, thank you for your videos Sifu Lok! - Nick T White

Great video I recommend keeping the finger lose and slightly bent then straighten the fingers on the moment of impact. Like you said hit through the target. That is my idea not to break your fingers. I recommend hanging a ball from a ceiling. Hit it then it will be moving. So then you learn hit the ball while it's moving. That is the practice recommended by Bruce. I never learned you conditioning techniques those practice techniques are great.

I was thinking of jeet kun do. The way of intercecping fist. I am older man now. But you know everything works. I been some deadly scraps everything Bruce taught works good. I did a two finger push up but only like twice when I was very focused. You get me motivated to be better or at least as good as was once.

Eye gouges, eye jabs, groin kicks can work. But you still have to know how to fight. You’re not gonna kick a Muay Thai fighter in the balls. He’s going to block it and destroy you… and you won’t get close enough to his eyes.
But to be fair, you did mention to practice the finger jabs and it may not end the fight but opens you up for other attacks. Good video by the way.

He's only waffling with all that "condition your fingers".
I am from Wing Chun, but I recently see UA-cam video of some guy from 'Krav Maga'; and he impressed me (tho his punches & palms were No good). However, he could finger thrust into a heavy bag: as hard as a punch !
And he showed the big secret too [of which you see Sifu Dan doing here, in slow motion]; which is to work in a kind of circular action: actually making contact with SIDE of the fingers. After that, inch power (of course: everything in wing chun / JKD is inch power, from the very start) brings in the forward energy.
Now, I'm Not encouraging for ppl to go & start gouging other ppl's eyes out. And hope this shows that a lot more heavy stuff can be done w finger thrust, than one at first would have thought.
How can you open a heavy closed door with finger thrust, for example ? If you have got the structure of technique & energy right, you can do it !
(If you have Not got the structure of technique & energy right, then you cannot do it)
