I think this is the very 1st time I've seen the "original" Demolition with Randy Culley as "Smash" before Barry Darsow replaced him. Needless to say, Bill Eadie & Darsow really made Demoliton work during their time in WWF:-D
The night before this was Demolitions very first actual match, at a matinee show on my hometown of Springfield, Massachusetts! VERY PROUD OF THAT! My favorite Tag Team started off in my hometown!
I just noticed & realized that Mario Mancini wrestled against both the Debut of Randy Culley as "Smash", & Barry Darsow as "Smash", wow, what a coincidence.
@AmishRiot not in wwf. When you're a kid, and all you know is WWF, and you see a new team come along that looks similar to the team you've known, Demolition was first. First in wwf. So LOD was the imitator.
@AmishRiot wrestlers wore face paint before LOD. LOD itself is a rip off of Mad Max. If you keep digging you'll find layer after layer of rip off. In the world of WWF, Demolition came before LOD. So in the wwf world Demolition is the original. Aside from who was first, Demolition was the far superior tag team.
@AmishRiot how was Demolition mimicking anyone? No one else wore a Jason style mask to the ring. No one else had rhinestones on the trunks. No one else used the chest suspenders.
DEMOLITION!!!.....\m/ \m/....my favourite Tag Team of All-Time....followed closely by Salvatore Bellomo & Mario Mancini....and any Tag Team combinations of Barry O...Barry Horowitz....S.D. Jones....Johnny K-9....Iron Mike Sharpe....Rusty Brooks....The Missing Link....Mr. X...Jose Luis Rivera....and Tony "CANNONBALL" Parisi
Moondog Rex said on interviews that the fans at ringside recognized him as the Moondog while he was playing the role of Smash and kept yelling Moondog at him, and Vince didn't like that, and he was replaced by Krusher Khruchev
They said in a shoot interview that the reason why Valiant was so short lived as their manager was basically because their personalities didn't mix and that he was taking the focus away from the tag team, thus the introduction of Mr Fuji.
Fuji definitely was a better fit. Valiant managing Demolition was like Heenan managing The HonkyTonk Man when in reality, The Colonel was the better fit.
Vince created Demolition to counter the Road Warriors success. Hawk and Animal were already Legends at this time with numerous tag championships. But dont get me wrong Demolition wete a hell of a tag team and i grew up watching them.
Uh? Underrated by who, they're one of the most highly praised and highly popular teams of all time, many see them as being the greatest team ever in WWF, so who is underrating them?? 🙄
@@jonathanturbide2232 To me, if that's okay w/you. They are underrated in MY opinion. If that's not good enough for the wrestling elite then tough shit. Go play professor wrestling w/someone else.
Demolution got so lucky in this match. Salvatatore Bellomono and especially Mario Mancini were legends in the Northeast during the early 80s. Rumors were that they were supposed to get some kind of masked super hero duo gimmick. Apparantly it fell through.
@originaldeadman1190 That's because it's the original "Smash" Randy Culley aka "Moondog Rex", which was replaced soon after w/ Barry Darsow who went on to become The Repo Man after his Demolition Run.
@SuperstarOfWrestling I think your right about the banner. I think maybe only some of the matchs were to apperar on the superstars show, so they would raise or lower the banner according to the match. Just a guess idk.
Okay, so one thing about Demolition that always puzzled me: What, if anything, are the torso straps attached to? Are they attached to the trunks? Are they their own separate garment with something like a pair of briefs or a jock strap? I've seen wrestlers grab onto them before but they never come untucked or detached.
Demolition as a kid was one of my favorite tag teams because of their look based on the movie mad max. Now today I see guys wearing dominatrix costumes. lol
Thank you for posting this. I have wanted to see this forever. Wow, it is surreal to see Culley in there, he looks godawful. I am glad they got rid of the terrible hair and makeup as well.
I love ax and smash demolition in wrestling I like to know when wwe never put ax and smash demolition in the wwe wrestling hall of fame demolition is my favorite tag team all time in wrestling are the best tag team all time in wrestling
I believe Eadie said that the circumstances that led to Colley being replaced was a blessing in disguise, that the chemistry wasn't right. Who knows how it would have worked out, but Eadie and Darsow were fantastic! My favorite tag team ever!
The original Smash went to the Continental Wrestling Federation and became DETROIT DEMOLITION...and remained there until the organization closed its doors in the late 80s/early 90s
And what is ironic is Bruno trained Mr. Sullivan. Such a shame he would take a train all night from New York to Pittsburgh once a month just to come back to this area and keep up his late mother's and his childhood home as a tribute to her. He made that walk on McKnight Road countless times, the truck driver just didn't see him.
Ax was Bill Eadie, who was better known as The Masked Superstar and The Super Machine. Randy Culley was originally Smash. He would later come to WCW as Rex and later Dead-Eye Dick as The Texas Outlaws with Dutch Mantel and Black Bart. They wanted Stan Hansen in that skit, but Hansen refused. Hansen never believed in silly skits like that.
I can't help but notice they looked a bit different when they debuted. I'm not talking about the fact it was a different Smash; I mean the facepaint was different. I think the outfits were modified a bit sometime later, also...
I agree .Especially with situations like Dolph Ziggler and Repo Man.. But the worst was when they tried to make Ricky Steamboat seem brand new ,when they just billed him as "The Dragon".
what I find funny is Smash (Barry Darsow) was also Crusher Krushive who teamed with Ivan & Nikita Koloff and fought the LOD In the NWA. I had no idea Johnny V was the fake LODs manager before Mr. Fuji.
Yeah, isn't that crazy, that couldn't have been planned, it had to just be coincidental, but that'd be a cool story to tell people for Mancini, if he's still live & kickin', don't know much about him.
I admit I really missed the mark back when the WWF introduced the demos... I later understood that they were supposed to be dangerous monsters, but I was just a kid back then and I thought for a long time that their gimmick was that they were a BDSM gay couple kinda like the Blue Oyster Bar guys except much more extrovert and with a love of face paint... Shows how much did I know🤷♂
@90038jhon The Legion of Doom moniker was not given to them until 1990. Demolition was wrestling in the 80's. How then would they be ripping off a group that wasn't around yet. Well since its their "debut" I guess it would kinda have to be the first time you seen them. 🤦
It’s my first time ever seeing this guy
this smash was replaced 1 month after this with the smash we all grew up loving
The night before this was Demolitions very first actual match, at a matinee show on my hometown of Springfield, Massachusetts! VERY PROUD OF THAT! My favorite Tag Team started off in my hometown!
Johnny V did Demolition no justice. Fuji helped build their success. They gelled perfectly!
Mr. Fuji suited there persona better to with his black tuxedo complimenting Demoltion's black ring gear.
Brandon Allen Don't forget his face paint and ghoulish persona...lol
I loved Axe and Smash infact I've still got there original action figures and I've never opened them.
YES! Ive been dying to see there actual debut My life is complete now lol. Thanks man!!!!!!!!
My favorite tag team of all time!!
Thus one of the company's biggest teams was born.

I just noticed & realized that Mario Mancini wrestled against both the Debut of Randy Culley as "Smash", & Barry Darsow as "Smash", wow, what a coincidence.
Mancini was the first TV opponent of a lot of big names. He was trusted for years to help get new talent over and make them look good.
Hey, just wondering if you still think it’s a coincidence?
Thanks for posting. I never saw Moondog Rex as Smash before your post.
When the Legion of Doom debuted in the WWF in 1990 Demolition cut a promo on LOD calling them Demolition imposters. Brilliant.
Because they were.
@AmishRiot not in wwf. When you're a kid, and all you know is WWF, and you see a new team come along that looks similar to the team you've known, Demolition was first. First in wwf. So LOD was the imitator.
@AmishRiot no, LOD is the imitator of Demolition. Demolition did it first on a National level.
@AmishRiot wrestlers wore face paint before LOD. LOD itself is a rip off of Mad Max. If you keep digging you'll find layer after layer of rip off.

Rip Moondog Rex

Flashback in the 80's
Legend of Masked Superstar, never lost his mask, just took it of and made people wonder where he went.
I saw him get unmasked by Mr Wrestling 2 and he willingly unmasked in another houseshow .
I have never seen this, thanks for uploading this

I was always impressed by how well Bill Eadie could work for his size.
Bill Eadie wrestled about 15 years before Demolition... The Masked Superstar...
He was 6'2", he wasn't that big
He is a big
Demolition was very lucky to get passed two legendary wrestlers like Salvatore Bellomo and Mario Mancini.
Funny!!😂😂😂Demolition vs jobbers!you know who will win!
LMAO
"...Lucky to get passed two legendary wrestlers like..." they're jobbers, it's literally their job to put their opponents over.
Bellimo and Mancini were way cooler than demolition.
*past lol
Salvatore Bellomo! Classic "enhancement talent"
That isn't Barry Darsow. That is the "first" Smash (aka Moondog Rex). In response to Jeff's comment below...
Isn’t that that what he said? This jobber was in both their first matches as Smash.
@@119Agent I don’t even remember the context or the comment, or from what video it originated. My comment was from 7 years ago.
Demolition's spikes were so unthreatening that kids could pat them walking pass and nobody would even get scratched.
Lol. So were Legend of Dooms’
Demolition was no joke! Love using them in WWE12
The guys who inspired the Road Warriors!
Riiiiiiiiight
I thought Bellomo and Mancini had a good chance to win.

Love the S&M outfits on Demolition 🤣
All three of these guys were badass Smash crush and ax completely fantastic three-piece tag team

Two tapings. Probably two matches, but it wasn't unheard of for guys to wrestle several times at the tapings, so can't be sure.

Yes, Randy Culley wrestled in Alabama as Detroit Demolition.
@rammsteincologne88: January 17, (taped January 5), 1987.
Demolition was Bill Edie and Barry Darsow.
