It is still one of the most open debates in Rocket League. Controller or KBM? Which is better? We decided to put this to the test and challenge 2 of our most talented freestylers from the KBM side & 2 From the controller side to settle this debate once and for all... They didn't put evample on kbm because they knew it would be unfair
Evample is more a comp freestyler. He wouldn’t have done better than those guys for sure.
@@baguette2844 I think being a comp freestyler will eventually make Evample way better than these guys. Doing Freestyle while in comp lets you learn corrections better than free play. Yes rn I think these guys are better, but I bet 6 months to a year Evample will be the king. He'll pull out freestyles from anywhere and still make it clean.

@@kanyondickinson5574 Just repeating what multiple pros and other freestyles have said in past videos I've watched. I agreed with their reasoning, basically Freeplay freestylers are fantastic because they have time to get perfect setups, and their muscle memory just takes over. In Evamples case he sets freestyles up from anywhere while receiving pressure from a skilled opponent. Thus it's not just his muscle memory being trained but his visuals, and micro corrections to land freestyles from bad positions. So eventually he'll have muscle memory and intuition down better than just Freeplay freestylers.
You can even see in this video, how if the Freeplay guys don't get the right set up they make mistakes and can't complete the shot. Evample will be able to make minor mistakes on setups and correct better.
Couldn't tell you who said it because I watch so many RL UA-camrs, but I've heard people say this about evample multiple times, and I think it's a sound argument. You don't need to be so rude, get over yourself.
I thought kbm would be Evample and Temple, those two would absulotely smash ground plays

The kbm players are also just a better team, faith is the best and most consistent in the world and gappled is rlly good aswell

@@cunnyenthusiast5896 Dlg was shunned because he was caught using macros and other things. SO DLG is not considered legit anymore this is coming from someone who knows DLG king clutch( his freestyle partner) and impulse previous world record holder in flip resets on a single shot.

After seeing this and the comments in the video, it gives me a sigh of relief because I’m a fairly decent KBM player who wants to improve at mechanics but was worried that keyboard was sometimes awkward.
Seeing there be actual KBM pros pulling crazy shots makes me feel a bit more relieved, mostly cause now I don’t have to relearn everything with a controller 😮💨

literally the reason I'm watching this vid lol. I've been playing since release and always been KBM, although I've tried with controller but never felt as comfortable (being a PC gamer) GC1 here :)

For me it looks like the skill ceiling for kbm is higher but it's easier to be cracked on controller since there are lots of great controller freestylers, but imo most of the best freestylers are kbm.
It may be harder on kbm to start but its harder to master on controller especially with standard or lower deadzone.
It just depends on the player not what they play on
@@dennisapaer9658 In my opinion especially in high elo freestyles kbm is better because you have an instant input for the directions. Its easier to click a button instead of rotating a stick and also its faster.
I think kbm for free styling is a lot better I’m not sure about easier but I think it’s a lot more consistent (for free styling), however I think the consistency on controller for mediocre freestyles is better. Being cracked on kbm seems easier but again I think the stuff the pros of rocket league do is better on controller 😅
@@strawsquash apparentlyjack said one time that kbm player could be as good as the pros but there are not so much kbm player on pro level that they can compete with the controller player. if more people would play kbm there would be no difference.
I am kbm and sometimes i think about getting a controller because some movement just feels so weird. But then i remember i am c1 and it would probably take me a long time to be at my current level
I did the same thing about a month ago, I played Kbm didn’t have a controller. I got to c1 in twos. I got a controller and got back to c1 in two weeks. As long as you set everything up properly it’s not hard to swap between the two
Depends how good your mechanics are vs ur game sense, if u have good game sense wont take u that long but mechanics u will have to re learn them, it will be easier since you already know what to do u just gotta learn how to do it

Left at plat 1 on kbm, competitively freestyling (2s)
came back like 6 months later on controller and shot to diamond 1 (2s). I'm way more consistent doing competitive motions on controller and freestyling ones on kbm - I was double tapping in freeplay before I was flicking in comp, even though I had the skill to. Seemed less useful than bounce dribbling, but its hard to bounce dribble on kbm. Precision vs fluidity, and freestyling requires the former
I'm 2 months into my change from kbm to controller, was champ two, I can hit flip resets now and am a lot better at dribbling but there's somethings that still feel weird also I'm back to champ 2

I keep seeing people say controller is better for comp, but not explaining what exactly controller has that KBM doesn't that makes if better for competitive, especially after saying KBM is more precise... If KBM is more precise, then what makes controller better for competitive???

Imo controller is the best, but kbm players can be so cracked.
I think both sides have their pros and cons. Kbm makes hitting stall resets incredibly easy where as on controller it’s incredibly difficult, and as we all know, stall resets in free styling are super important
