At 61 yrs old in 2023 I still get goosebumps .........Long live Freddie
The movie actually made me cry. What a shame he died long before his time. I wonder what other great music he would have created if he had not died so young.
What was really amazing about him he had so much musical talent he could have been a star in rock, opera basically any genre of music. Now that is talent. You combine that with his natural charisma. I wonder what would have happened if he had gone into acting?? We will never know now.
I really think it would have kept evolving, unlike a lot of older bands who are around now and just fade out and don’t do anything as good as what they did in their heyday
people don’t understand how unreal this performance is, like he had half the world singing along with him, doing vocal warmups like he’s the teacher 🤦♂️ insanely talented man, forever a piece of history.
which makes it all the more remarkable how the directing and actors managed to mimic this and put it on the big screen. Added with a few sensitive touches: the smile of his mother when he blew her that kiss from the stage to her watching with glistering pride on how HER son was mesmerising a massive crowd, and actually hypnotising the world with his band.
...to that shithead of an eMI-director who there and then, realise his massive failure in nót keeping Queen signed on: the biggest band he could have ever contracted.. .all because of his dicatorial policy of not allowing songs longer then ~3 minutes(Bohemian Rhapsody? Thats what broke it, because that EMI-doofus wouldnt have it... boy did he learn, did he learn... At that very moment during the concert, he must have felt the loneliest and DUMBEST man on the planet! ..sitting there in his overpaid office... 'with all his friends'... lmao!)

Perfectly said. The man was gifted, hell they all were!! Music is my passion and always has been since I can remember. Cant think of a time when I wasnt into music. I was born in the wrong generation... to be able to even have the opportunity ya know?
Freddie Mercury will go down as the greatest frontman of all time no matter what the genre of music is. Nobody has come close to the genuine energy that he exuded throughout his entire career. His performance during 'Live Aid' was a masterclass in how to create an energic, emotional, and theatrical entertainment masterpiece. He isn't just at the top of any mountain, he is his own mountain and always will be.
I agree with you. They talk about Mick Jagger but he never seems to connect with the audience the way Freddie did.

Saw Queen four times with different people each time … everyone was in agreement that this man’s performance was mesmerizing!

Man I wish I was born in the 60’s so I could witness this monumental performance in the 80’s (I was born in 96 unfortunately 😅) but man, what a concert of a lifetime! The power, the energy, the chemistry of Queen and the audience was incomparable! And the movie was so identical to the live performance! Rami Malek IS Freddie Mercury reincarnated! 👏👏👏👏👏

Looking back and think about what I was witnessing I didn't think I was watching history, watching magic happen live in front of my face...!
I was just excited to see Queen and the world had no idea that Freddie was sick at that we were going going to lose him soon.
It warms my heart to go back to this and all their concerts, specials shows anytime by just typing it!!

It's hard to imagine now that Live Aid was almost 40 years ago. And I remember it like it was yesterday. In my mind's eye it seems like it was a few days ago. Live Aid was a beautiful event where all of the world came together for just one day in the hope of ending world hunger. Rami Malek is a wonderful actor he played the part of Freddie Mercury so brilliantly but I would have loved to see the movie go on past Live Aid and show the fight that Freddie put up against that dreaded disease in my opinion Freddie Mercury is one of the bravest people I ever knew. R.I.P Freddie

@@sctmcg It was hailed as one of the best live performances ever at the time also. Everyone was blown away. The other famous artists backstage were apparently also in awe.
I feel surely blessed that I was alive to see Queen perform at live aid. I remember watching that brilliant performance Freddie was standing on stage and looking down on literally thousands of people and everyone of them were singing along with Freddie. Just imagine one man had the old audience in the palm of his hand. Nobody else that day could come anywhere near Queens performance. It's such a shame that Freddie is no longer with us it would have been something else if he was still alive in 2025 to celebrate 40 years since live aid I know quite a lot of musicians are no longer with us that were there on the 13\07\1985 R.I.,P to all of them
I can remember watching Live Aid with my mom.I was already grown,but mom loved all music,and we actually wept after Freddy's performance. We were blown away.I still am.RIP Freddy.You are so missed.

Wow I sure remember the original performance live aid. I also remember the day he died & I cried. FREDDY was the ultimate showman. The movie I was hesitant about seeing, thinking noone could play the part. oh was I wrong! Rami done amazing job! This is so cool seeing split screens. Still miss Freddy. Thank you for video.

They had Sasha Baron Cohen but he wanted to do everything his way so he was fired. When the producers called up Rami Malek to play the role the first thing the producers said "Oh My God. It's Freddie when they saw Rami walking like Freddie Mercury.

also I think Sasha was just a bit too tall for the role, though facially he would have had way more resemblence. Malek did a great job though! No question.

@@mercatorjubio3804 I watched a documentary on Freddie and the guy who played Freddie was actually better than Remy Malek. Don't get me wrong Remy had certain aspects of Freddie down to a tee, but the guy in the documentary was so good I would often forget it was a actor while watching it.

What the real sham is this video only has 1298 views and 9 comments. MFN, What an amazing job you did putting these performances side by side. Right down to panning Movie audio to left and Original to the right. Seeing these side by side further demonstrates why Rami won the Oscar. The hand movements, facial looks, body movements. Hell, even holding the microphone in the correct hand at the correct time switching it back and forth exactly how Freddie did. WOW! Again, Amazing Job MFN

Rami Malek is a phenomenal actor! Absolutely amazing performance. 1:1! I grieve with deep respect. If it wasn't for Freddie's betrayal, it might have been longer.
The movie directing and the actors did an impeccable job in mimicing thé greatest Gig in music history. Almost évery single move Freddy made on the stage was copied into the scene. Perhaps the reactions of May, Deacon and Taylor were a tad exxagerated to showcase what of an absolute magnificent performance this was: even théy were amazed by it!
Beautiful work on the small details too: Freddy promising his mother to 'blow her a kiss from the stage', and later coming back to a shot of his mother, smiling proudly when he actually does it. To an even later shot on a terribly proud mother who saw hér son, just hypnotyse the WORLD with his singing!
To the point of 'We are the champions', and the Wembley crowd is going so nuts they are losing it... the shot of the EMI-director who just realised he tossed away the BIGGEST band he could have EVER signed on!
Beautiful! Very well performed by Rami Malek! To imitate the energetic charisma that Freddy had is very difficult, but to mimic every single move from this 1985 Live Aid-gig is beyond that.
