cars in the 4.10s or 4.20s are in the 6.20s or 6.10s in the 1/4. People keep saying they're 8 second cars. Believe me, 193 mph in the 1/8 is at least 223 to 240 in the 1/4 please educate yourselves
+Burnout VW cars that run 4.20s and 4.10s in the 1/8th are cars that are set up to put out their maximum abilities in that distance. That does NOT mean that the car will continue to accelerate at that rate if it were to run in the quarter. Id doesnt translate like you think it does. Please educate yourself.
A 4 sec 1/8 mile car is NOT a 6 sec 1/4 mile pass it would be around a high 7_8 sec run. I've been racing for 15 yrs i run a 9 second chevelle n mile 1/8 mile is a mid 5
You madam, are a stupid bitch. You have no idea what you're talking about. I'd light your ass up on the 1/8 and the 1/4. It dont make no damn difference to me and FYI, that grey camaro in the thumbnail, "Hyde", had the belt for the fastest back half in the world.
invurack420 The professional drivers don't even matter. Have you ever seen a carbon fiber drive shaft come apart during the burnout? I did and it hit fans standing 20+ feet away from the car sending 5 of them to the hospital. I'm sure cyclemaster46 was referring to mechanical failure more than "poor driver" skills.
38:21 - someone tell me what the purpose of that small fin on the very front center of the car is. I've noticed it on a few of them and I'm assuming it's to dissipate a high pressure area but not really sure how it accomplishes that.
Mark - Its a fin, its part of stabilizing and traction. You were right about the high pressure. You know how race cars have spoilers? That thing is part of a spoiler on the front bumper to prevent air from getting underneath the car and causing it to go airborne, or to lose vital traction
Audi LMS I appreciate you answering but you haven't shared anything I didn't already know, nor have you explained how that fin works. Everything about that body is for stabilizing and traction. I want to know how that fin contributes.
Mark - Oh, Sorry. When at high speeds, the fin creates a column of air on both sides, to give it a 'track' of air. It probably also divides the air so it can smoothly flow into the the double superchargers
Sigh. The comments people fire back makes it feel like a risk just to ask a simple question sometimes. I was puzzled, and didn't know that "radial" referred to a racing class using specific radial tires.. that's why I asked. My apologies, I know it's an important life skill to know all the drag racing categories in existence rather than just having a casual interest in motorsports on UA-cam.
Troy Schweikert they asking if the engine is a radial configuration. You know the engines seen in tractor pulls, pulling 2.5 or 4 tons of dead weight behind them down a 1/4 track.
What car is that at 8:34? It's matt black and is driven by Bubba Livingston. I thought it might be a Plymouth but I'm not too sure. I'm not as educated as i'd like to be on American classics. Would appreciate any feedback guys!
Every one of these cars is quite capable of running 1/4 mile. We ran a best of 4.28 in the first round of eliminations at this race. Then we made a few changes and went 6.34 in Vegas. Roger Holder went 4.16 (I think) at this race and went 6.11 in Vegas.
nitrous oxide, these cars practicly run off of it. its purpose is to increase the total rpms of the engine by adding more oxygen to the air/fuel mixture.
You have to admire crazed men that pedal all-out in 4 seconds or less in the 1/8th. A LOT of side betting was a going on here to keep it real interesting. It sure beats video games! Best pass that I've seen this year (2016) was 3.63/211 @ MIR.
If they are running 8th of a mile, what do they do in the quarter? 200 plus or blow up? I take it that all of these are the radial engine such as was offered by Mazda many years back? First time I have run across this.
John Schnitzer I guess it depends on who you talk too. This is wikis take LOL {The Mazda Wankel engines (a type of rotary combustion engine) comprise a family of car engines, While The rotary engine was an early type of internal-combustion engine, usually designed with an odd number of cylinders per row in a radial configuration, in which the crankshaft remained stationary in operation, with the entire crankcase and its attached cylinders rotating around it as a unit.} So now Im confused. LOL
Very slim chance of these guys losing control during a rolling burnout. If anything, possible tire coming apart or drive train component letting go and possibly harming someone.
There is so much occasion for death and mayhem at that track that it gives me goose bumps. With all those people lining either side of the starting line area if something broke on a car doing a burnout it could careen either way and wipe out a dozen or so people in a split second. The only people on or near the starting line should be a few crew members for each car a track official and the starter. everyone else should be in the stands or well behind the water box, safety, safety, safety.
Exactly what I was thinking…. Set down for Christ sake and let the people that are in the stands watch too. It only takes ONE little thing to go wrong and DAM your DEAD. Whoever owns and manages this track is a FOOL!
Itsallgood9000 You both are idiots. The 1/8 is just as entertaining. Its safer for the drivers, less ware and tare on the cars. Go back to watching the fast and the furious. This shit is for real gearheads.
Itsallgood9000 I know now what the 1/8th mile is for. Its for racers with attention deficit disorder. For some a quarter mile. Although it is proper and good anyone doing it. They just cannot commit to a whole quarter mile. Lol.
Tristan Yackiw Well, you asked.. It's supposed to be a vette. The front looks like it too, only it's all fiberglass on a tube frame so it's not really a corvette at all.
2:18 I'm in love with the look of that Vette!

all of you are wrong
+Jon Allen it all depends bro. everyone has their own set up
14:03 But that wheelie tho! Damn!
where's the 1/4 i want to see some action 1/8 is too short
The 1/4 is a thing of the past old man. It took me a little bit to accept it too, but the 1/8 is where its at.
dillon sanford agreed!!
Semaj Notrub 1/8 its shit boring lol
***** you dont need High-octane fuel to run 1/4, this is just way to boring
You madam, are a stupid bitch. You have no idea what you're talking about. I'd light your ass up on the 1/8 and the 1/4. It dont make no damn difference to me and FYI, that grey camaro in the thumbnail, "Hyde", had the belt for the fastest back half in the world.
1:25 - What a noise! Great video!
They need to do something about crowd control. To many people in the staging area. You cannot even see the cars. It's all fun tell someone gets hurt.
These are professional drivers, That do not have fame like the Nascar driver's but just as much skill. I wouldn't worry too much.
invurack420 The professional drivers don't even matter. Have you ever seen a carbon fiber drive shaft come apart during the burnout? Exactly !! Only the crew should be in the stage area.
These people hopefully know the risk they take standing up on the starting line. Its nobody's fault but there own if something happens!
How do they hook like that with Drag Radials? Amazing!
What is the white smoke coming off the hood ?
Whsts the use?
Sorry for the ignorance.....
Regards....
+ae70gts nitrous system purge, releases unwanted pressure/air from the system to get a pure clean shot later on :)
14:04 that Monte Carlo was pulling the perfect speed any faster and the wind would have lifted it into the sky.
That's part of the reason for wheelie bars so your car stays on the ground
13:25 did that grown ass man just squeak?
+Weston White hahahahahaha thank you
😂
Lmfao
The only sound you hear is the cars talking. LOVE THIS VIDEO!!
What is the white steam stuff that is blown out from the cars sometimes??
Jarrett Justice nitrous purge

MajorLeague Marketer You know, you might be onto something there. Not being familiar with the rules at that level, I couldn't argue against it.
it's used to cut through the wind resistance and it also creates downforce
That little yellow bug was something else. Nice video.
Are these radial engines, or rotary engines?
are you forreal right now? lol
Don't be scared of the internet for the internet is scared of you..
Troy Schweikert they asking if the engine is a radial configuration. You know the engines seen in tractor pulls, pulling 2.5 or 4 tons of dead weight behind them down a 1/4 track.
Aslo Olsa it's 330 feet for truck pulls
What is that white smoke that comes out of the hood of the car. Is it like steam?
Veldkamp motorsports 2k18 it’s nitrous they are purging the bottle pressure down to where they think is the best for the run
What car is that at 8:34?
It's matt black and is driven by Bubba Livingston.
I thought it might be a Plymouth but I'm not too sure. I'm not as educated as i'd like to be on American classics. Would appreciate any feedback guys!
It's hard to tell kinda looks like a Camaro or a Z28
There are some fast cars on it though.
I believe the car you are asking about is a early to mid '70's mustang
That car in the pic is Bubba Livingston's
I thought I saw an AMC or it's a Mach One as well.
Cheers guys!
ive never understood why some tracks let people crowd the burnout box like this; what happens if a car catches traction and jumps sideways..?
You have the awsomesed video
Would of like to see what they could do in the 1/4 mile....
Should be good.. harder to hold together, but these looked like stout cars..
None of them are built for quarter mile.
DragRacingCentral that's what I wanted to know thanks supper fast cars I like better the 1/4 mile is more of a challenge.
Every one of these cars is quite capable of running 1/4 mile. We ran a best of 4.28 in the first round of eliminations at this race. Then we made a few changes and went 6.34 in Vegas. Roger Holder went 4.16 (I think) at this race and went 6.11 in Vegas.
now they are racers quick change readend?
Why do they allow so many people around the burnout area and starting line?
Why do some of the cars have that purging system, where before they start air is coming out the engine and it looks like smoke
It's nitrous
nitrous oxide, these cars practicly run off of it. its purpose is to increase the total rpms of the engine by adding more oxygen to the air/fuel mixture.
What's the steam/white smoke that blows out from the hood?
Love watching these. Been watching these and the big tractor pulls. :) Awesome.
+Nick Miller purging the systen, getting air out of the lines to spray nitrous
What'z up with the left lane?
What are they doing with their doors?
the charger dude removing the smoke from the cockpit that builds up after the burnout
+MassRacingChannel Oh. Okay
good video
when are you doing a new video
Question, why do they purge so much?
Martin Doesntcare makes them feel "big" and "tuff" lmao
To get air out of the lines
To get the bottle pressure to what they need it to be
Nice video,thanks...
¿Que es la columna de vapor que sale del motor anter de arrancar? ¿la presión del turbo compresor?
Am I correct to believe that these all have radial engines? Radial in the sense of piston orientation relative to an output shaft
Disposition Bladeworks radial is the tire they run not the engine
Whats THe Beat called :?
You have to admire crazed men that pedal all-out in 4 seconds or less in the 1/8th. A LOT of side betting was a going on here to keep it real interesting. It sure beats video games! Best pass that I've seen this year (2016) was 3.63/211 @ MIR.
ini mesin rotary semua kan? | all rotary engine ?
7:33 is that Scotty Cannon?
What would these cars run in the 1/4 ?
Low 7's to high 6's probably.
If they are running 8th of a mile, what do they do in the quarter? 200 plus or blow up? I take it that all of these are the radial engine such as was offered by Mazda many years back? First time I have run across this.
Radial tires. I see the confusion..Most of these are good ole American V8 Muscle.
radial engine? I could have sworn it was a rotary engine.
There is such a thing as a radial engine. Used in aircraft. But something tells me these are not powered by radial engines lol.
John Schnitzer yes lol, or else there would be ALOT more vibration
John Schnitzer I guess it depends on who you talk too. This is wikis take LOL {The Mazda Wankel engines (a type of rotary combustion engine) comprise a family of car engines, While The rotary engine was an early type of internal-combustion engine, usually designed with an odd number of cylinders per row in a radial configuration, in which the crankshaft remained stationary in operation, with the entire crankcase and its attached cylinders rotating around it as a unit.} So now Im confused. Wonder what happened to the viper.
Jesse Silva to h just. Pp
Whats spraying out the hood at 24:38
what is it the cars are venting ?
When you see the gas spray up, that is nitrous. They open the doors to get the tire smoke out of the cab. Not sure what your question was exactly.
4d4mz I think he means the steam coming of the roof
These are great. Thanx for upload.
Great footage
Differenec between drag and normal race? anyone?
All these people at the starting line are asking for it.......All you need is one guy to loose it during a burnout.............
Very slim chance of these guys losing control during a rolling burnout. If anything, possible tire coming apart or drive train component letting go and possibly harming someone.
5:30... I pretty sure big daddy jumped
Greatttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!! Ellery Oicle, Halifax,Nova Scotia,Canada
I had my bets on that grey like gold car with black tripes on it with the extra back end the one that jerks a lot like crazy
At 40 secs on the vid
The little fin breaks the beam on the timing lights! middle of the lane? never knew the crews to be that blind as to need a guide fin?
Richard Shields the “fin” is a wind splitter it doesn’t effect timing lights at all
bullshit last weekend at south coast raceway Portland Victoria we had nitro funny car and in an 1/8 of a mile they got up to 212 miles and 346 kph
damn
I have a question. How do these cars not do wheelies? There are cars that aren’t as fast that do huge wheelies.
hotdogbun22 it’s all in the chassis setup
I like your vid man. Nice work.
when you want show us another vid !!
You tell me Robyn, Drag racing, best sport in the Wfw!
Surprised by the amount of 4th gen Camaro bodies. Awesome to see.
why do they keep opening and closing the door?
Scream machine's are too hot.
What happened at 20:24 I'm lost
He waited to Spool the turbos so the other guy wouldn’t burn him down
love this . bad ass race cars
Damn these engines, wish the uk had engines like this
it would be unaffordable
it would be unaffordable
man where is the 1/4 at
Good driving and great balanced cars!
But many people around...
Why does the car in the left lane always win?
HOT DAM I DO........THEM boy's rolling!!!!!
How do they even control them

1/8 mile tracks suck
i know its like watching softcore porn. just pointless.

chefdan87 OK, I agree with them, so could you please add me to your list too? Thanks man.
Nice video!
so fast wat are those pink shoes
how do they accurately measure how fast the cars go
+Andrew Richardson
There are 2 camera's/sensors set a specified distance apart at the finish. Timed and calculated.
+Bill Schwerman ok thanks
@@matbasterson2128 i have a question, what's the vertical front wing on some cars? Thanks!
nice ride
I like the 1/4 mile too but i dont remember 1/4 mile cars in this type of class going this fast at the 1/8 mile mark , and you live longer
I like the vette @ 13:36

Tristan Yackiw Well, you asked.. It's supposed to be a vette. The front looks like it too, only it's all fiberglass on a tube frame so it's not really a corvette at all.
ok thanx
I cant wait for one sixty fourth of a mile racing. Boy... the insurance companies will really be happy then.
Cool man
omg that corvette tho!
There will be only one Big Daddy,Garlits..
Did anybody else notice the guy in the gorilla mask at 2:28?
Old school @ 08:23.
whats realy wrong "dig daddy" we all know old man Don Gartlis don't mess with the name he is still alive
My dad's camaro sounds like that but it's street legal with full interior and cold ac
Nice video but more caution should've been taken, too many people near the car.
3:44 I freaking hate that car
Why are all the corvette's fking up their races?!?
lots of gbodys, vettes and maros!
fords must have all broken down before the meet.
You must be blind. There are a bunch of mustangs in this video.
