I personally think that katana zero is the perfect canvas for this type of music, so both art forms compliment each other very well.
KatanaZero doesn´t feel like a product, but more like an artwork. Every single piece of this game has a purpose, it isn´t there just because thats what the game needs to be sold. This soundtrack is already amazing and I can´t wait to play this dLc!

Katana ZERO is a compelling game on its own, but the soundtrack is responsible for the atmosphere that all the other parts have to breathe in. I love the gameplay, the characters, the story, but it’s the soundtrack that sucks me back into this beautifully uneasy world you’ve all created.
Somehow, this little game with its relatively short runtime and (albeit beautiful) pixel art graphics keeps pulling me back in ways that my most cherished games fail to do. The moment I hear Full Confession and I start thinking about this world again, it’s just unreal.
Dude, I’m just in awe. I almost feel bad for you having to experience this from the critical perspective of a creator, since I honestly think that Katana ZERO would rank highly against all other experiences in my life, it’s just like nothing else.
If you’re ever doubting yourself (which, given the overwhelming praise in this comment section, I’d be surprised if you even could) just know that you’re a genius and you’ve done what every artist aspires to do in their life.
I don’t wanna get too sappy about videogames but this one got away from me…

I listened to this track right after the Katana ZERO's fifth anniversary. I finished the game one year ago, and i LOVED EVERY SECONDS OF IT.

I knew about the DLC stuff going on and i saw multiple times your music (for the dlc) in my youtube recommandations.
Every time i saw it i was like "nah, i will wait the release to listen to it in real time"
But yeah, it was kinda painful to wait so i decided to listen to it !
It's wonderful.
The tension, the buildup, the pace... It reminds me a lot of Breath of a serpent. Which is one of my favorite track from the game.
When i listen to it, i just want to see more of your work on the soundtrack. So i can walk in the street while thinking about this crazy adventure with your songs...

It’s March 2023 now. And i still waiting and waiting and hoping this DLC will come out soon. I finish the game over and over for more than 30 times now. I don’t think i can wait anymore.
i like to think this is the equivalent of the Bunker levels for fifteen/whatever character we'll be playing during this part, given the buildup seems pretty similar to how Delusive Bunker sounds. thanks for making such a great OST, Ludowic!

I love the style of this song, how it gets more chaotic and staggered as it goes on, like shifting tides getting more and more unsettled. It really captivates the feeling of "I'm running out of time" that Zero and the other NULLs are dealing with

the similarity of the sounds used for "breath of a serpent", the broken dragon statue, and the sound of a ticking clock in the beat, plus we know that fifteen is suffering withdrawal (as in he's running out of time); i can't help but feel like this is the soundtrack of gamma fifteen's death. i do hope we have at least one more mission playing him in the DLC.
Didn't know about dlc. But I"m glad, not only gameplay is cool but it also has really good music and feast for eyes for aesthetic.

the insane part about the whole soundtrack is how you immediately go slicing people around, dodging bullets, and sometimes even launch the game, it really captures the vibe like nothing else

This is the best possible way i could have found out about the dlc
It sounds like a blend of all the different songs from the ost. I suppose that makes the title all the more appropriate.
You don't just make music, you capture an atmosphere, a feeling. Your tracks breathe life into the game. It elicits emotions and is the peak of video game music, every game wishes they had music that fits so well.

The beginning tune completely scrambled my brain trying to get its timing down, but it seemed to get in step as it melded with the progression later on; not a feeling I'm used to getting in music.
The whole track is fantastic with it as well, sets a good uneasiness as we get into slicing and dicing. Thank you for the early preview, can't wait for the DLC to drop for equal parts gameplay, story, and music!

The fact that the art has a dragon thats cut up, could mean a zero vs fifteen fight… since fifteen is the “Dragon” after all.
Apparently they have some backstory so this is definitely possible

I just found out about this game and also just beat the game as well. I fell in love. I’ve never been into platformers but, playing this game made me feel like a kid again playing on my gameboy on a long ride home. The gameplay, the story, the soundtrack. It brought tears when I finished. Cant wait for the DLC.

Oh god, I'm hyped more than ever now. I absolutely love the musical style you and Bill Kiley provided for the world of Katana Zero, it makes everything come alive and wouldn't be the same without them.
My favorite of all is your work with Full Confession, it heightens the climax and sadness of the fight so much I felt on the edge of my seat, who knows how long and how many loops their fight took, it's heartbreaking to imagine their struggle.
In my opinion you're THE master of building up tension, the progression of instruments and loudness from calm to full intensity, it's a feeling like no other to get focused along your songs as if you're Zero himself aiming for the perfect path.

This soundtrack, at my university we had to write about some of our favourite game soundtracks (taking game design) and some guy posted how his favourite song was SNOW so I gave it a listen and here we are today, the katana zero soundtrack is one of my all time favourites and I’m trying to get the soundtrack on vinyl.
