It depends what kind of crowd is coming to the wedding and how long they're going to be sitting there, but my suggestion would've been to request on her wedding website that each of her guests bring their own candle that they're comfortable holding for the ceremony. Totally agree with you about drawing the eye to the existing arch - the whole point of the freestanding ones is to mimic the look of real ones like this.
Please please do a Mary Poppins theme? I’ve been pitching it for a bit. So much color to choose from, add some magic and whimsy, and I think it could be “practically perfect in every way”.
It looks like a small, intimate chapel, almost convent vibes (I just visited a monastery as part of a trip and I got monastic vibes). Dark, rich hues (burgundy, purple, black, hints of silver or gold), matching flowers, a long burgundy carpet, gentle candles, vines over the arches sorta in the way the woman in the video described. It’s a lovely little area for a wedding, capable of being both very low-key and very beautiful.
