Great tour. Been years since I've been to Albany. It's a much bigger show now then when I last attended. My love for crawler tractors began with a WWII military surplus IH T6, gas crawler tractor, my grandfather used on his, now my farm. In the mid 1950s it was one of the largest tractors in the area. As I remember it, in my toddler days, it was as large to me as that D9 is to you now days. During the last 50 years of collecting tracked machines, I was always looking for a T6 but ended up with a bunch of Cats, Never got the T6 of my dreams. Not complaining. I've had a lot of fun with the Cats.
Those are definitely rare tractors now. To be honest I don't remember ever coming across one. I had a TD6 for quite a while, I never should have sold it. My grandfather ran several TD6s over the years. Dad recalls his toddler days similar to yours with that machine in the late 50s. He remembered Grandpa accidentally setting him on the hood on a very hot day. If I ever run across a T6 I will be sure to let you know. 😊
@@lifeafterourloss Wow I wanted to make it there this past summer, and would have for sure if I would have known you were there. I'm an hour 45 min south east of Albany. I drive by it during the summer on my way to Melrose to play on my old 49 D4. Would have looked fwd to talking CATs with you!!! Maybe next year? Jeff
@weyrens1 Hey Jeff, I don't think this will be the last show I attend in Minnesota. Next year will be the 100th anniversary of caterpillar. We may end up at an anniversary event. I'm guessing you're near my wife's family in Faribault.
I would have been stuck at the working exhibitions, I absolutely love watching the old steam powered machines work. Our 4020 didn't have those steps or the guard/shield, and I spent many many hours on it so I would remember. God Bless Mrs LAOL, she has to have the patience of an angel!
Fun fact of the day - that RD-6 you recorded here is the very tractor that made me want to own one of my own - as well as the No.9 Auto Patrol grader that you pointed out the similarity in radiator size to the D4, that's the one right there that also convinced me that I needed a No.9 of my own (now have three lol) 🤓
One of my fondest memories is going to the John Deere dealership in my little home town in the Texas panhandle with my grandpa. They had an old Coke machine with small bottles for a nickel. That and a bag of peanuts I'd be good to go back to work!
Same with me. I always loved to run to town with Grandpa. We would usually gawk at all the brand new tractors at the dealership for a while. Most trips to town included stopping at the local greasy spoon for lunch. Grandpa always insisted we have a slice of pie.😊
Born and raised on a farm, the first job I had off the farm as a 16 yo was as a helper in the parts department at our IH dealer. Lot of good memories and I learned a LOT!
I know the local chapter of the caterpillar Club in your area has some fantastic shows. Next year Dad and I are thinking about heading your direction for some of them.
@lifeafterourloss is that the Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum in Vista CA ? If so, I've been there a handful of times It's about 30 miles from my house About 25 years ago, I auctioned off a couple of antique Briggs & Stratton engines I restored
I think it is chapter 15 of the Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club. They've had some gigantic shows. Now I'm intrigued by the museum you donated the engines to. By the way I have a very long Members Only video for Sunday that I've been working on for a long time. 👍
My wife's grandfather had a cat 50 that did road work and he always said it would burn 50 gallons of gas a day😮 that's one of those fuel tanks are so big
Gotta add this show to the list I have to check out. I could be wrong but I don’t think that was a makeshift bracket for the mag on that RD6, I think that’s how they were born :)
It's like being at the tractor show without all the walking. Thanks for taking us along.
Nice old iron thanks for sharing.
Great video! Thanks!
Way better and more reliable than a pony motor!
Wow, last seen at the candy store!
I do love the candy store! Thank you for supporting the channel. 👍☺️
Nice kittycats and other old iron, thanks for showing them.
The love you have for these old behemoths is so infectious! BRAVO!
I have a 1943, IH T9 Dozer with a Bucyrus Erie “Bullgrader” 6way blade. I also have a 1946, TD9 in an Adams Motor Grader Model No311

You're more than welcome. 😊
We do have a Almelund show. I get there alternating years.
I will have to check that one out. 👍

She absolutely does! 😊
These big dozers are meant for heavy work. Lot of very old tractors that you hardly see elsewhere. Thank you for the overview and commentary.
Always interesting!!

I can see how you got hooked! The RD6 are much more scarce in Colorado. We'll see you on the next one, 😉.

What a great place for a yellow iron guy like you.😂😂😂
Thanks for putting that video together Aaron it was great!
My pleasure, glad you enjoyed it. 😊
I watched the young guy operating the TD 14 with the Bucyrus Erie blade .
He was competent for his age.
Thanks.
I wanna go!!
Is definitely a worthwhile show!
@lifeafterourloss I'm all the way in San Diego CA

Day 2: squatch253 ?
It looks like you had a great time there.
It was a fantastic show! We had a great time and I highly recommend it.
should have looked up Squatch and talked pin press!! Or did you???
I did. Right now we're putting the press on hold in favor of just running the tracks on another machine. 👍
My wife's grandfather had a cat 50 that did road work and he always said it would burn 50 gallons of gas a day😮 that's one of those fuel tanks are so big

It was a great show, tons of prairie tractors in the next video. I was wondering if that magneto was original or not. 👍
Pressed pins on fd 40 fiat allis
Guess Who must be Toby 'Squatch253' Nelson..
Do you see Squatch253 on part 2?
I absolutely did that will be Thursday's video. 👍
Let me guess...you saw Squatch253??
There was definitely a squatch sighting. It will be in Thursday's video. 😊
