I really do hope south africa improves, I'm sure tourism will help in some way. I sound pretty naive for sure, but I do miss going there during my childhood. It is sad to see it change from what I used to know, even though I was definitely on the brighter side of things. Even when I went to cape town in april last year when the drought was happening then and now.

I agree. They describe Cape Town as part of the Western Developed world, however that only applies to the white population. For this reason I could never visit South Africa, there is still limited equality.
I'd like to see more brown faces since no one's truly black. The Brits started those labels of black and white an era ago, and it unfortunately stuck with generations not realising how demeaning the symbolic meaning as to why they started those labels. As we know, the days of imperialistic Britain is still kind of ingrained in some ways today, and they messed up nations up to about the 19th and into early 20th century.
It's a prominent residue that the apartheid regime has left upon South Africa, Cape Town especially. Visiting JHB is a completely different experience. Black people in joburg are a lot more integrated into society

The abuse and disparity also contributes to the same wrong. You would need a flooding overabundance for Cape Town to live the way it was and even that the flooding storms and tsunamis will level this city.
