It has always struck me as odd when people sneered at Julian & Sean for sounding, at times, like their father. Of _all_ the people on Earth, you"d think they'd get a pass, given 50% of their DNA.
They inherited their voices and of course they are going to sound similar to dad. Other artist imitate the Beatles and have been influenced by them. Since John did encourage music with both of his boys, I am sure the boys would be influenced the most by their own father and all the other musicians associated with them over the years. It is not an easy business. They deserve to use their genes and talent to the best of their abilities. The world is a happier place because of music and we all love the Beatles. Why not take advantage of what is given to you. Both boys have their own talent as well. We need not to be so critical. It can't always be easy being constantly compared to your parent wether a musician, artist, actor, etc.

It was UNBELIEVABLE, many said that he was purposely trying to make his voice sound like his father in order to sell more records. It really made me angry and it was frustrating for him.
But I do hear a difference in the inflections of their voice. I hear a hint of Japanese in Sean's voice. While Julian sounds a bit like Paul McCartney.

I think this is great. Friendly Fire is a fantastic album. Those listening for some kind of "long lost Beatles album" just don't get it. In fact it IS the most Beatle sounding album from anyone I've heard. It's a great piece of work from a talented artist that happens to be the son of famous parents. Also check out his album with Les Claypool.

Some people need to know their music sucks. Don't want to end up like those suckers on American Idol Rejects version where no one ever told them they sucked. wow shawn just love your music .i have followed your parents since the beginning and what alot of people dident understand about your mom was how great they were together and how when they sang together they were playen back and forth with such affection .her voice was like electronic music setting the tone to the beat . she was ahead of her time but very good . i know this isent the right platform but i know a band looking for someone to colaberate with . girls-got-groove if u go there just on youtube she has 345 videos and 835k subscribers she put out two albums cds and is looking to work with another artict to bring the band to the next level . she has been playen the drums since she was 10 and is 20 years old now she went to music school in france and lives in germany now she does have many friends from the school and all can play most any instrument as well and know the people in an orchrastra so she has people for any project u have in mind .sorry i dont know whats worst my spelling or typing lol anyway besides doing covers she has played for inside venues and summer outside concerts she recently started selling some merchandise and also taking donations to do more projects .she does make her own videos and her father mike is guiding her career . if i had one wish id ask if u and /or your mom could take an interest and maybe join her for a song or give advice to help a female struggling artist to make it in the music arena and with both your talent and experience i know we could all provide our fans with something very rewarding and that will live on forever . thank you iam jerry schmidt ive been a fan and friend since she started .thank you for your time and music as well your dad would be proud .

Indeed. On Oct 9 we had Sean's 45th and John's 80th birthday. On Dec 8 it will be 40 years since John died. And the 21st Oct, 2020 marks 17 years since Elliott left.

With the exception of his look, I think Sean does a fine job of just being his own artist. Very little of John in there, to be honest, outside of some basic vocal inflections which plenty of artists possess without being a Lennon.
