Great video! The villager priority (pie graph) feature has honestly been a game changer for me. Managing villagers and resource gathering has always been the part of RTS I dislike having to keep track of as a very casual player. I loved the original Age of Mythology as a kid, and they have absolutely knocked it out of the park with Retold. Also the potential for more gods being added, and two expansion DLC planned, makes my inner child very excited!
the good thing about that feature is that you still have to set you preferences or customzie it, depending on waht unit or stuff you plan to do you may need to change the balance, so the economy is not really something you can FORGET 100% it just remove the micro managing part.
Let me start by saying great. This is my age of empires game ever i took a shot in the dark and upgraded it for early access and im totally hooked to this game and also it already got patched once already so it shows me they are on top of this game
The "One villager per farm" popup got so annoying. Glad they gave us the option of turning off the AI resource management, I like micro'ing my peons. The AI definitely needs some work, at least for resources. The other QoL changes, like unit queuing are a nice touch. I will say, I laughed at the Code of Conduct when I booted up the game for the first time. What are they gonna do, take my game away if I trash talk? Jeez, this world has become so sensitive. Side note: I absolutely loved the live-action video segments in AoE4, and was sorely disappointed they didn't do any new ones for the The Sultans Acsend DLC.
I am a fan of the age of empire games and AOM is releasing in a great state (AOE4 had a terrible release in 2021, but is now a great game) and is the most casual age game for new RTS players. It is still a 20+ year old game that was remade with some good QOL changes. Stormgate even though it is in "early access" is such a bad RTS game. A pure rip off of starcraft 2, why play stormgate when SC2 is the superior version.
i think aom is less casual in my opnion, i mean for me it have much more depth strategy than aoe, because the civs are much more different it feels more like starcraft 2, you have just 5 civs in aom, greek/egypt/norse/atlantean and they play so different from each other, just like starcraft, aoe2 each civ is like 95% the same, with afew buffs a exclusive unit etc.
Automation? Can you turn it off? I don't need crap like that in my old school rts! XD Controlling everything yourself was one of the best part of the game, it decided on who's good or bad at the game :D The story and the campaign was always great, I have the og game with the expansion and played the hell out of it :D (lost the expansion disk at some point :/) The units are really fun and the story is good, it's something age of empires also had some variety in it, but in this game it's a lot better in my opinion :3
@@GlawiousAldredMarci It's there cos this isn't just a pc game, it's also out on console. It's very helpful there, but yes you can play without it if you don't want it. The game is also quite moddable, with a lot of mods already having come out.
its off by default, and this thing exists in age of empires 2,3,4 as well, its not meant for you to use it on the pc version its a option, its acctualy MADE for people that will play on console with a controler, cause micro managing with a controller is not that good, so its better to have it "Automated" and the user just selects the proportion % of villagers to each resources and let the controller user focus on the army. think about it like aim assist for shotter games, if you want RTS games to become popular sell well and be a main thing again, accept it and embrace it the more accesibility options the better because people that will play on a controller can't have the precision of a mouse and keyboard, so we acctualy need more stuff.

I loved Age of Mythology when I was younger. Strangely I never got in to Age of Empires.
Same
AoM clicked more with me
Yeah me to. Mythology is one of my favourite games of all time but none of the AOE games clicked for me
Battling old enemies again, Arkantos?
exactly!! :D
“I had wood shortage problems to be perfectly honest” that made me chuckle 😂
Fantastic video Enjoy Watching and I'm dropping a like
