These are very fun elevators! Glad you got to ride them! And regarding your description, I remember for quite a while from 2016 to about 2018 you'd end up visiting places i went to a few weeks or months after I'd go there. Nice to see that trend is alive and well again! Haha. Anyway, great video and thanks again for the birthday wishes man!
I was in New Orleans last year at the Marriott with the same system. Bogged at times with stops on floors that nobody needed to be at (I got impatient with the system at some points), but it was very fun to use. Looking at other versions of this, it seems like they got rid of the system in favor of listing floors with only one button. For a blind person like myself, that was a bad idea. However, it was really great to find another way of using elevators.
A lot like the Westin Oaks Hotel elevators but with a more familiar voice on every aspect and a retro looking screen just like the Marriott Marquis in NYC, and yes I can see why you got confused on the beginning. If you watched Suzzex’s video on these recently, he did a full overview of every chime from every car in handicap mode, also whats with “A as for Aggies”? This aint an Otis Compass 😂😂😂😂
And I love riding these elevators. I wanna stay there one day and maybe do a full tour of the Hotel one day. I hope these elevators don’t get modded to port anytime soon or modded anytime soon. I would be disappointed to see these elevators go because they are the first in DC
@@dmvelevators Even if they are modded to PORT, keycarding those elevators depends on the hotel staff or manager, whether they enabled it or not. NYC Marriott Marquis somewhat needed it just to prevent people from accessing floor 49 for example (which can be previously easily accessed once you use the keypads from specific floor and press 55 on it, which was much harder to nearly impossible to do it nowadays, according to some comments). Also if the M10 systems are working fine, they probably don't need to upgrade to PORT, unless something goes wrong like in NYC MM, which the old M10 systems suffered from bugs and glitches.
I have always wanted to ride these, along with the Miconic 10s (which have since been modded) at Marriott Marquis NYC. I really need to make a trip to the east coast someday
Though I may be wrong, but I believe these are Miconic 10 because they have the voice announcements on the elevator lanterns in handicap mode. Schindler ID doesn't have that. These are very famous regardless.
And based on the actions of how these lanterns blink, they seem to act like the Miconic 10, but that is just a thought and not 100% for real if it is or not.
@@FloridianElevators I'm not exactly confident on this. Schindler id doesn't have that many voice announcements as miconic 10. From looking at other videos of miconic 10s and IDs.
When I was in New Orleans, if you were in the lobby of the Marriott, chances are you probably got the American voice on the control panel. But when I was on 32 of the river tower, I got the British voice when entering my elevator destination.
@@JimLiElevators it was really cool. And I think there were some ushers in the lobby that announced the floors when checking the control panels. It was like somebody was reading the lottery.
Is the voice of the Schindler Maconick 10 elevators, announcements, computer generated, or did a certain person record these announcements? I’m just curious because I have never heard an elevator like that before.

Schindler ID is their access control. Miconic 10 is their controller.
I remember Dieselducy filming those elevators years ago.
Me too.
Yes, Sir Diesel Ducy filmed the elevators 13 years ago.

Those are Miconic 10 and I never ridden in a Schindler Miconic 10 before. Awesome find Jim!
You went there too?! Amazing!
1:00 car b is so funny
Awesome Elevator
I’ve rode & recorded these before! Nice video!
your gift of filming elevators is the best thing god gave you

Have you got a link to that video? I heard on another video that for handicap mode, it is a helpful guide.
These elevators are my favorite in DC

I'm glad you got Car E because the chime is cute better than the other Cars.
I wonder if they’ll ever upgrade these to Schindler PORT like they did the NYC Marriott Marquis
Honestly I kinda hope not. Because imagine if they keycard these elevators if they get modded to port

@@megakarlachofficialgood point. The Marriott Marquis in NYC needed it pretty bad because of the bugs and glitches

What’s really interesting is that the miconic 10 in handicap mode they all have a different chime. My favorite is car C. Do you have a favorite?
The vocal car indicator in New Orleans only had that announcing once.

Where did you hear this? My understanding was that it was the Keypad as well as the Controller that set the 2 systems apart.

I'd love to see that, but I won't be going to New Orleans at all honestly.

I did read the description and that really sucks that you were stuck in traffic for almost the whole day. Definitely not pleasant.
Have you gone to the Watergate hotel? It may not be the most famous in the elevator community, but it is a landmark in US presidential history
I have been there. I did tour of the Hotel and rode the elevators a few years ago
4:52 The elevator that has the best handicap chime ever
I love this elevator.
I believe dieselducy filmed this one seems like cab look has changed
