  • Shahar Cohen, Co-Founder of Second Edition, presents on the key considerations and challenges of specifying re-use.
Sustainability Snacks is a series of short online sessions that aim to demystify sustainability in practice. In just 30 minutes, we will hear from a practitioner on how they are reducing their impact.
This event is an initiative of EmAGN and SONA. EmAGN (Emerging Architects and Graduates Network) advocates for and supports architectural professionals within 15 years of graduation, as part of the Australian Institute of Architects. SONA (Student Organised Network for Architecture) is the student-membership body of the Australian Institute of Architects.
    Speaker:
Shahar Cohen is a co-founder of Second Edition; a small spatial practice which was established in response to the massive amount of construction and demolition waste ending up in Australia's landfills. The practice is centred around on-site, hands-on research and experimentation to work towards a more resource-efficient building process. They advocate for practical, local, and feasible techniques for waste minimalisation with real-world applications. Second Edition continually investigates and tests alternative methods of building and designing with materials that would otherwise end up in landfill.
The host for this session is Tiffany Liew, National EmAGN Immediate Past President. RAIA National Council Director and Senior Associate at Architecture AND
