UB40 are an awesome reggae band. They originate from my home town of Birmingham, England.

• Bring Me Your Cup
• Homely Girl
• Tears From My Eyes
• I’ll be on my way
• Cherry Oh Baby
• If It Happens Again
they all legends
It was a cover! The original song is from Lord Creator in 1970!
You got to check out the CD "Jamaica's Tribute To UB40". Its full of all the original songs they covered yet Jamaica is paying tribute to them 🤣🤣🤣
Reggae is great, and I’m glad you rediscovered the joy in it. FYI, the hit “Red Red Wine“, popularized by UB40, was actually a song written by Neil Diamond, and recorded in the late 60s.
Elvis sang it 🫡
Hi Lex, it's so nice to see Lu again. It can be hard to believe sometimes, but UB40 are from Birmingham, England. Hugely successful in the UK and elsewhere from the very late 70's right through to the 90's. They are still playing in various formats, although a couple of the original members have passed away recently sadly. As mentioned in a comment below, their name comes from the claim form one had to complete to apply for unemployment benefits in the UK. Lots of songs to choose from here Alexia xx
Birmingham, England has a big Caribbean community, it's part of the city and what it's known for. It is surprising if you don't already know the band, Ali Campbell the lead singer is white English, but he grew up hearing reggae music and the band members come from a wide range of ethnicities, obviously some from Caribbean, which I think added hugely to their distinctive sound and their popularity.
UB40's version of "Falling In Love With You" is a reggae cover of the Elvis Presley song. A UB40 was a form in 1980s UK to do with being out of work.
Beatles cover -
• I’ll be on my way
My favourite💯-
• Where Did I Go Wrong
Other great ones -
• Bring Me Your Cup
• Homely Girl
• Tears From My Eyes
• Cherry Oh Baby
• If It Happens Again
The song was written and sung by Lord Creator originally
Higher Ground is my favorite UB40 song, I relate so much with the lyrics nowdays
UB40 are from England and it's spelled Labour in all English speaking countries except the USA.
WOW how unnecessary to point out the spelling since nobody cares.

@@johnbeans2000lol were you even watching the video
Hi Lex & Lu, lovely to see you both. I still remember hearing UB40 for the 1st time in England on the tv pop show "Top of the Pops" It was 1980 and the song was called "Food For Thought" I bought the single on vinyl the same week. [ still have it ] The sax I absolutely loved and the echo was brilliant. It is still my favourite track. Love reggae and especially Bob Marley. I managed to get a number of his top cds on special Luxury 2 disk Editions which has on the 2nd discs bonus tracks + live tracks. There was a song on a tv music show called "The Tube" in the 80's by someone called Sly Dunbar [ a drummer ] and it was a reggae cover version of The Beatles "Ticket to Ride". I spent decades searching for it. I finally found it 2 years ago on u.t by accident. It's a record by "Sly & Robbie" on Taxi records ...It was the Taxi links that led me to the track as I loved the American tv sitcom "Taxi" Lol ... How's that for luck ? It's a brilliant cover version. Great reaction to this thankyou. If you haven't heard "Food For Thought" you must have a listen. Saxophone through echo is amazing. Byee Jim X
This song takes me back to my teen years, it also reminds me of being in the car cruising through Brum in the summer with my boy when he was just a nipper.
Happy times
Fun fact ub40 means - Unemployment Benefit, Form 40. Thats why the first album is called signing off
Oh kids I hate to say it but "Red Red Wine" is a song originally written, performed and recorded by American singer Neil Diamond in 1967 it is often mistaken for being a Bob Marley song.UB40 recorded a cover version in 1983.
The whole Labour of Love album is a great car album. I used to play it very loud when on the road all through the 80's (on a good system btw).
P.S. You and Lu make a great team on camera. Loads'o'fun. Cheers guys 🤘😎👍🍁🎶🎵
Labour of love II, there are a few more
Such a șad song for me, it reminds me of a friend that died in a car accident, she loved UB40 and Kingston town was her favorite song. R.i.p. Yesenia🕊️
May she rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing 💗 ✨ So sorry for your loss!
@@NicknLex gracias for your kind wordș Nick n Lex, salute ✌🏼
I've loved the song for 20 years💚😊🌅
I'm really happy that you liked it, your reaction to the instrumental part was lovely.
instant sunshine and good vibes - heard this played in Antiqua recently and wow memories it brings back
Lu’s dancing with that fur ball Marley. So cute!
Love looking at Lex & Lu listening to music 🥰🥰👁👁♥️ can’t wait to see you two in your New Year’s Eve video. 😍🙏🏽✌🏽
I was about 13 years old when I first heard this. Brings back a lot of good memories. My little brain didn't know about reggae yet, but it expanded my mind to so many others: Marley, Tosh, Maytals, etc. I know UB40 is sort of known as a pop reggae group, but their music brings back old memories, so I'll have a special place in my heart for them.
_Some great UB40 tracks:_
Homely Girl
Groovin'
If It Happens Again
Wedding Day
Don't Break My Heart
Rat In Mi Kitchen
Impossible Love
Cherry Oh Baby
One in Ten
The Way You Do the Things You Do
Not a fan of reggae, but anything that can put smiles on the faces of Lex & Lu is OK by me.
Simp 101 😂

Hey, Alexia… how is Nick’s chair? I noticed you don’t seem to use the knee chair anymore. Just wondering?
Growing up New Zealand was the capital of Jamaica lol...because of our love of Reggae...spawning to this day multiple groups Katchafire, Six60 L.A.B , The Black Seeds, Fat Freddy's Drop, Salmonella Dub etc...Pacific artists like JBoog, Fiji, Maoli, Tiki Taane etc...
I would recommend listening to UB 40's first 3 albums. They have a much more authentic reggae dub sound. After these albums they gradually became more commercial and compromised (in my opinion) their links to the music that inspired them in the first place infusing it with more of a pop sensibility. I'm not criticizing anybody who likes the more commercial sound only saying it doesn't do it for me.
Totally agree UB40's old stuff is amazing! I'm a big fan too
High school buddies!! So cool!!
UB40’s first 2 or 3 albums from the early 80’s were very much their own sound with a harder edge and lyrics reflecting the times of high unemployment and social unrest. I prefer this period much more than all the cover stuff they did. ‘One in Ten’ was a big hit single in the UK and well worth a listen.
" I prefer this period much more than all the cover stuff they did"... what are you talking about.!!! Kingston Town is a cover song (I am not even sure UB40 did any original songs). Kingston Town was originally recorded by "Lord Creator" in l970)
@@beyondthepage9389 I meant that I preferred their early stuff which was nearly all original material. I know Kingston Town was a cover.
Ese álbum es impecable. 10/10. De los mejores discos que he escuchado en mi vida
I love this!!!! this song is just so nice 🌼
How do you both feel about ska? Maybe some English Beat or Specials?
Excellent choice.....love to see reaction to Nite Klub / Ghost Town :)
Hoping to request English Beat when I get the chance!
When it comes to reggae, people always talk about Bob Marley. Fair enough, he is probably The Greatest. But he's not the only one - Johnny Clarke was almost as big as Marley early on, have a listen to "Rockers Time Now". Dave & Ansel Collins with "Double Barrel", Desmond Dekker with "Israelites" and "It Mek", or "Johnny Too Bad" by The Slickers are all worth a listen... so much to choose from.
Also you have to mention, Horace Andy, Johnny Osborne, Dennis Brown, Earl 16, Danny Red, Lee Perry, Jah Zhaka!, those Artists are just Amazing same as Robert Nesta.
This is just the start my friends, hope you react to more obscure reggae in the future, there are so many reggae artists mainly underground, just within the 80s to mid 90s era alone, along with so many songs. Check out "Robert French - Give me your loving" Heavy 80s Reggae right there. Time to make your way down the rabbit hole.
Time to listen to the full UB40 live album Food For Thought, with the kind of Frankensteincover, real genius!!
Childhood memories hit me when it started.. ❤️
The Kings of Reagge UB40
My favorite ub40 song 💯
Have you girls reviewed Musical Youth's 1982 worldwide Reggae Smash hit "Pass The Dutchie" ?..
You should definitely listen to some Labour of Love albums on some road trips… UB40 compiled and covered some of the greatest reggae music from Jamaica ever. If you ever wanted an introduction to reggae music, UB40 is one of the better ways to go.
My fellow Brummies UB40 :)
Mine as well!!
I believe Red Red Wine is actually a Neil Diamond song and was remade by Bob Marley and UB40.
UB40 were surprised to learn that RRW was a Neil Diamond song…their remake was inspired by Tony Tribes version.
What can I say ? It was pure fun to listen to you and watch you react .. maybe do it on a regular basis in the future .... once per month?😃🥰🤘
Check oot UB40s first album, Signing Off. UB40 was the document you had to provide when signing on for dole money. Unemployment in the UK was at 3 million. Music allowed these guys to "Sign Off" the dole. Their early songs such as "Food for Thought" " One in Ten" or "The Earth Dies Screaming" are far superior to the cover versions of famous reggae songs that UB40 went on to do such as Kingston Town.
Listen to Food for Thought, I promise you won't regret it. One in Ten too. Go on...what ye waiting for?
Also your UB40 got you into their concerts in the early years for free...
Awesome, wondering if you have listened to Cali reggae. Tribal seeds, stick figure, slightly stoopid and a whole bunch of others . Think it would be cool to react to those groups. Oh and can’t forget Hiri, more Hawaiian but awesome
Next should be ( Here i am baby) live.
Steel pulse+ I want to live in your house is also another banger🙌
Great to see your friend Lu. She has good taste in music and friends. Check out UB40’s Dance with the devil and You’re always pulling me down. 👍❤️
Memories ❤
Try some Harry Belafonte. 'Jamaica Farewell' and 'Day o'.
You have to try 1 in 10 and Red Red Wine
Wonderful 😊💚
great vocals from Ally Campbell, always a Karaoke fav :)
Happy New Year Lex & Lu,
Can't wait to see that video that you all did in your cabin over your New Year's Holiday Weekend with your friend & family!! I bet that it was a great time and I can't wait to hear you sing a whole song with Nick, the band or solo!! I just want to hear that beautiful voice & I bet that Lu has one and can't wait to hear hers as well!! Hoping that all's well with you both, Marley & with your families and all!! I'm just wondering if you had decided what song on my list or did you want me to pick one or maybe two that you can handle due to your back? Please let me know either way and I'll know what you want me to do to get my request to you guys to react to it and since my birthday will be next month and it will be so wonderful if you could work it out to do my first choice on my Raffle Reaction Request List that I had sent you in an email in November when you had drew my name and I have been so understanding with all of what you guys had been going through with Nick's mom and all of that and I'm glad that she's doing a lot better and I'm still praying for her and I am not saying that life isn't more important then my request, But at the same time I had won your raffle and sent you a list of songs that is so important in my life and I know that most are over the time limit that you'd set for us due to your back issues and I've been praying for you about that as well!! Most of those songs could be a blessing, may touch your heart and make you shed a tear or two!! Can't wait to hear from you soon!! Sending you all love & prayers for great health for 2023!!
Thanks For Putting Up With Me!!,
Walter - 🤘❤🙏🤘
P.S. FYI!! UB40 is a Reggae band from Birmingham, England and they had formed in December of 1978 by Ali Campbell on guitar & vocals and with his older brother Robin that went to a school of the arts with Earl Falconer, Brian Travers & James Brown as well as he kew Norman Hassan since junior high school. But when they had persuaded to rejoin after some time away and much later they had recruited Michael Virtue & lastly Astro!! The group had nailed their colours to the mast by naming themselves after an unemployment benefit form. UB4O is known for their covers on their Labour Of Love series of albums during the mid "80's to the "90's in our country and the biggest songs are their reggae covers of Neil Diamond's Red Red Wine & Can't Help Falling In Love With You by Elvis Presley among others!! The band is still making music although some of the original members had been either retired or passed. But I have to give them much respect to the band for keeping reggae music alive!!!!
Nice to see reggae lovers ,I grew up reggae, live reggae please react to Morgan heritage "coming home"
Hi Lex, great to see your friend Lu again ( Love your hair by the way Lu ! ). UB40 much more commercial 80's sound compared to Bob Marley & the Wailers and Desmond Dekker etc from the 70's.
You will like the Sattalites, a Canadian reggae fusion band. Check out Gimme Some Kinda Sign and their cover of Too Late to Turn Back Now.
Loved your reaction please to react to Arise Roots - So high, they're such an awesome band
Have a listen to their good stuff ... earth dies screaming, food for thought and one in ten
UB really hard to find his the best reggae in our island...he can show you everything you want to see in real life...
Just the way you guys shake your head to the beat I can tell the girl on the right loves her reggae
Great song the original version by Lord Creator is worth a listen
I love the UB's version of Kingston Town but Lord Creators version is beautiful
Lex... "Many too Many," te va a encantar
UB40 is to Reggae like Nickelback is to hard rock. IMHO. ;)
Labour spent the English way...there from Birmingham England 😉
Proper english
Did you guys know lee scratch perry invented dub and claims he gave reggae as a gift to bob
UB40 are a British Band .
I'm British and a Bboomer compared to you two (40's), but I grew up with UB40. UB40 are a great British band, all the UB40 Labour of Love albums are their covers of old Reggae classics. When you said it was 80's I was thinking, no way! Surely 90's, but I googled it and it was Nov 27 1989, so the cusp of the 90's also
Hi, please check out UB40 and Pato Banton - Baby Come Back
Can u guys please react to "lucky dube" Romeo and Juliette 🔥 best reggae artist from Africa.
If you would like to hear some real roots reggae, Check out Yabby You & Trinity - King Pharaoh Plague On The Land
Spelt the English way from England 😉😍
UB40 sued Paris Hilton, cause he4 song Stars are Falling sounded similar to this
My pitbulls name is Marley
A great version but even better is the original by Lord Creator
I like the part when you said you didn't grow up. Only real thing you said.
Wow… harsh. And quick to judge, too.
Lu is a Cutie! Not surprising!
What about Ska?
For a true experience, you need to listen to some Blue Beat and Rocksteady.
Por favor escuchar la original mucho mas natural, Lord Creator - Kingston Town
Te recomiendo a la banda la Zimbawe con la canción "Lejos"
I love this song (songs nowadays r jus basic)
should HABE ISED THE VIDEP
Sampo Hawaii reggae sistah 🤙
IM A HUGE UB40 fan BUT ONLY WITH ALI HE IS UB40
A bit boring and repetative. Not horrible but not something I would seek out to listen to again.
Canadian english , proper english !!!!!
Now all you need is proper punctuation, eh?
@NicknLex it is called irony, don't take it personally, 🙄
UB40 es el impreso que tienes que rellenar si quieres cobrar el subsidio en G. Bretaña. Son famosos en G Bretaña grupos como, Madness y Specials que hacen Ska una mezcla de reggae y rock.
5 minutes of Karan
Reggae music far out 👍
