    Use a forstner bit to cut a cup into the wood. Center beam over center of that cup and then place ball in cup to center ball. Thanks for all the ideas.

    Thanks, definitely useful as I'm researching about lasering basketball leather. 👌🏻

    Can you do one on a softball/baseball? Im a newbie, and sports equipment is a big thing around here.

    Hello, awesome video. Just wondering what wattage laser did you use, what focal distance too? I have a 100 watt c02 laser, would like to try this for my son.

      From memory, pretty sure this was with a 2inch lens, and we used the 100w co2 :)

    Roll off masking tape does great for holding balls.

    Great video. how would I engrave something as small as a round ball about 8mm in diameter? (Plastic) Is there something that can engrave all around it or would I have to keep rotating it?

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  Рік тому +1

      I don't think there is currently a device that will spin a sphere like that unfortunately. Perhaps a chuck rotary if you set it up correctly via the jaws and maybe a point support on the other end. It would be tedious but do-able.

    How would you go about filling in the engrave so it’s black? Also, how far back did you focus?

    Light bulb definitely burning bright. I have been asked to personalize bowling balls in the past. Wondering if it would just be better engraving it in parts as I manually rotate the ball cause I see no way of modifying a rotary to do the job. What's your opinion?

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  3 роки тому +1

      Your plan sounds solid. Just be careful. Use the corners of your bounding box to line up each line with the line below it. Check the urn video for an example of what I mean by that.

      They aren't, I believe that's some kind of sublimation - came from the store that way.

    I wanted to purchase co2 machine to engrave on leather wallets, and I bought for start the 3018 pro, which is very not good for use.
    What can you recommend for a good and professioanl co2 machine, and most inmportant - which software is the best to use?
    Thank you very much!

      Hey Gabi, I'd check out the OMTech (Orion Motor Tech) machines listed in the description - the 2021 Buying Guide. They're solid machines from a dealer that's been around for a long time. You're getting the same machine you'd be getting off ebay but instead of having to tinker to get it to do what you want it will be mostly ready to go. They're a little bit more expensive but I think they're worth it.
      You don't really need more than 50 or 60 watts unless you think you'll be cutting thick woods and acrylic.
      As far as software there's only one option: Lightburn. Nothing else compares. It's amazing software and very inexpensive.
      I think it's lightburnsoftware.com - check it out. Its the software we use in all of our CO2 laser videos.
      ALTERNATIVELY if you're just doing small items and don't think you'll need a giant CO2 bed like the OMTech machines have you could opt for something like the Cloudray galvo CO2, also linked in the description. It works just like the fiber lasers with EZCAD software but instead of producing a fiber laser beam it produces a CO2 laser beam. Great if you need CO2 wavelength but don't need the giant bed size. A little more expensive but much better beam quality. Look into both and don't hesitate to join the discord and ask if you have any other questions.

    Do you do engraving on rubber it would be more than words

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  2 роки тому

      There are lots of different types of rubber used in different ways so it definitely depends on the specific situation.

    Do you have to mirror the name my always comes out backwards

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  3 роки тому

      No... not typically unless I'm doing glass or something transparent where I want to look at it from the other side. If you're getting mirrored engravings you may want to check and make sure you have your machine origin set correct. When you reset your machine does it home to the top right or left corner? Which corner do you have your machine origin set to in your Lightburn device settings? Might be the culprit if they don't match.

    If I had to do it over again I would have bought at least a 50-watt galvo CO2 laser and not the 30 just seems to be a little underpowered

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  3 роки тому +1

      I'm probably gonna agree with you when my 30w comes then!
