Great information Sofia! I also highly suggest using a care placement agency that conduct their own investigative research regarding facilities (e.g., assisted living, nursing homes, group home/board & care). These placement agencies do receive a small fee for placement, but it is in their best interest to make sure the facility they recommend is in compliance with the city/state, and doesn't have a lot of citations or the type of citations that cause great concerns. Thank you!
I tried to look up mother in law’s senior living facility but it didn’t pull up. Is there a difference between a nursing home and a senior living facility? I didn’t see any other category that looked like it applied.
@chocojavachip Yes, nursing homes are medically focused and usually paid for by insurance or Medicaid, and these are regulated by Medicare. Senior living facilities such as assisted living facilities or residential living or board and cares are privately paid and are not regulated by Medicare. However, some states do have their health department conduct surveys on these facilities. Try to do a Google search for "Assisted living facility survey results in (your state)" and see if anything comes up. Good luck!
Thank you! Very helpful.
I’m glad you thought so, thanks for watching!
