Mobilization of a large number of people without any influence is impossible. As he said in the beginning, Bangladesh sits at a very strategic place in the world politics today and I can't help but think that there might be other forces at hand. A dictator's downfall may give way to another populous' rise. Our part of the world is very volatile now. Myanmar, Bangladesh and Manipur (India) all happening at around the same time, is concerning. Remember Arab Spring in the middle East a decade ago.

In India - only 40% (or lower) of all seats in good colleges & govt jobs are filled based on Merit. Rest are served on caste lines - 27% for other backward classes Caste) - 16% for Scheduled Castes - 7% for scheduled Tribes - 10% for Economically weaker sections - 40% are filled on Merit (provided no paper leaks or other corruption happen) And the parties will never remove reservations because it is tied with political milage; nor will they extend these reservations to the castes that actually need upliftment. These reservations have been cornered by the most influential castes in the so-called backward castes & they refuse to share it with the people in their own castes. Example - Rajasthani Meena caste accounts for 0.38% of ST population but they corner 50%+ ST reservation seats in educational institues & jobs. I think people won't get the picture if I don't explain. In the past 16 year not once live ammunition was ever used on a purely public protest (yes there has been many protests like this before). And because of that this escalated a lot quicker than it would have.

Having grown up in Malaysia, I can empathise with people angry about jobs being allocated to identity groups rather than on merit. However the attacks on Hindus and other minorities are concerning.
The attacks on Hindus are mass media campaigns from India, cause they got paranoid when we dethroned a mass kil*ler installed by them! If you want to know the reality, better to be on the ground and ask the Hindus living in Bangladesh, who were heavily involved in these protests against Hasina!
Some goons of hasinas party did those things cause they wanted indian army to enter Bangladesh cause as a hindu nation they have a soft corner for hindus in bangladeah... But they didn’t know we the student of bangladesh are the to protect hindus of bangladesh.. And now everything is under control

12:22 Those who attacked our Hindu brothers were the supporters of Hasina. They (the supporters of Hasina) thought by doing this they will get some sort of support from India.
A similar thing happened in Iran. a revolution consisting of a number of heterogeneous groups with different ideologies, progressive students alongside radical Islamists for example. Finally, when the revolution took down the government, the radical Islamists took advantage of the anarchy and disagreement to hijack the government and create an even more oppressive and brutal dictatorship. I hope that's not what will happen in Bangladesh.
'progressive students alongside radical Islamists' is where Bangladesh's movement is different from the Iranian movement. They weren't given an official platform to involve themselves. They are still hated by the liberal masses.
Where the fuck you get that information from? From Godi media of India? Jamat E Islamia is a legitimate political party in Bangladesh. "the protests were organic" yeah, thats something historians are going to prove or disprove, there is no way to say it surely now, there are many comments that suggests otherwise so I will stand on agnostic position regarts it.
They are organically organised and funded by NGO's no doubt, mob action is incapable of achieving anything if not directed and backed by wider forces. A grassroots protest was what just happened in Britain, an organised one was the massive counter protests by agents of the state, one gets prison, the other gets stilted media coverage.
only the people who were in the protest can tell what happened and as one of them I can assure you that it was organic, she killed hundreds of students just to stay in power, and even while fleeing her plan was to kill more using BD Army but the army denied to corporate fortunately. Whatever it is we don't want a government who killed so many students. They even killed innocent children who weren't even in the protest but in simply playing on their balcony, rooftop.
One thing you inaccurately portrayaed here is the scale and timing of the violence. Most of the violence occurred very early on during the protests. Official accounts report at least around 200 people died during the period between the 18th and 21st of July, (including a lot of unarmed civilians and children) which also was coincidentally when the government decided to cut off the internet and call a curfew. Also the supreme ourt redacting the quota policy only happened after hundreds of people had already been killed by the violence and protests showed no signs of backing down and there was continued pressure from the international media despite the internet blackout. Because the goverment took the violence first approach before actually considering the people's demands with sincerity was why the student protesters continued on with a bunch of demands for the government which included briinging justice to the killers of innocents students and children as well as asking key government officials to step down. Because the government showed no interest in listening to any of the demands, eventually the 6 point demand morphed into 9 points and then finally to simply 1- which was the resignation of Hasina and her adminstration. Another thing was that while you stated that the protests had no centralliesd leadership, it wasn't unorganised. And that was because the anti-discrimination movement was led by a bunch of student protesters who kept communicating via national and social media to the rest of the population to continued the protests unabated and calling them out to conglomerate in certain wel known locations on certain days. Eventually two of the key protestesr, Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud, made their way into the list of the advisers to the interim that was just formed headed by Dr Yunus. Nahid and co were very key to the revolution.
This was above & beyond well written & informative... 💪❤ I'm impressed & also very happy that things seems to be starting to go in a good direction in Bangladesh. 🏆 Much Love & Godspeed, from Slovenia❤
I wonder why China didn't have these movements while its youth unemployment has reached 20%+ in official data and 47% according to Peking University researchers.

I'm very proud of the Gen Z revolutionaries across the world. Pretty impressive to see the sheer pressure a collective movement can have when directed towards the great good. I hope the future shows more promise than it looks right now.
As of today, 13.8.24 the unrest has died down, army handed over power to a civilian government and is actively working with them to maintain order. The reformation work has started. Everything is becoming normal. 👍
People were ready to protest they just couldn't find anyone to get behind. Students allowed that to happen, they didnt leave streets no matter what, finally people around the country joined. And currently there is no violence going on anymore, protesters are helping authorities to restore law and order.
So now you know why India is so concerned with Bangladesh, esp, Bangladeshi Hindu. Meanwhile Indian Muslim minority continues to experience miserable livelihoods.
Hmm. Hasina wanna keep the country unstable, so that she can prove that Power of Bangladesh is only secure in her hand. Dividing by religion is the best way to hinder development. Indians are spreading so much PROPAGANDA. Here is no mass killing, no mass r@pe happening. We, Bangladeshis are laughing the way they are trying spreading hate.
One of the main reasons for the miserable life of Muslim minorities in India is kids. One of my friends (who worked in IT along with me) has 3 kids. Think about a well educated Muslim working in IT having 3 kids during these days. Now, you can take a guess on how many kids a non-educated person might have. Now, I'm not saying everyone will be like that. But, a majority of them are not thinking clearly about the future of their kids. Now, who is to blame for their situation. We have to adapt and change as per the times. Having no kids is not good. Also, having more than 1-2 kids in a developing country is also bad (both for the family and the country).
@@RajendraCan That is a factor yes, but that dosent mean they dont experience other problems, every other day I find indians calling for religious genocide online
The problem with Bangladesh is the country has a huge identity crisis. A huge chunk of the populous, if not the majority, are still sympathetic Islamic elements and you can almost automatically equate that with being pro-Pakistan and if there is a free and fair referendum with the people of Bangladesh given the choice to go back to being with Pakistan, there is a strong possibility they will vote in favour just because the country in general has very conservative population base with strong pro-Islamic and Pakistani and anti-Indian views. To be fair, if India didn’t proactively help, Bangladesh would still be under Pakistani law with its citizens treated as second class citizens. That’s just a fact. Corruption is so rampant that there is almost a hopeless situation there - from head to toe the country is filled with corrupt people. The moral baseline for a vast majority of the people are very low. In a country with huge identity crisis like that and such poor moral mark on basic human decency, it is just a matter of time for Bangladesh to become another failed state like Afghanistan and Iraq. Hasina and her goons were corrupt as hell but so are her counterparts in BNP and Islamic Party. Army also had a bad legacy back in 2006. Not a single bright mind wants to stay in Bangladesh. Anyone and everyone is looking to emigrate. Remittance is the bread and butter of the country but in a generation or two when that dries up, the country will be in real trouble.
Are you joking? We fought one of the bloodiest wars in history to gain independence from Pakistan. Being a Muslim majority country many people have pro Islamic views, but given the choice, I doubt even 5% people would like to go back to being with Pakistan.
There is some truth here, but as an Indian we should refrain from such broadstroke negative assumptions bcoz this adds to the anti indian views. Democratic, prosperous, stable Bangladesh is preferred by India. So we can hope for that. How things will turn out, we'll see.
There are many factual errors. 30% quota allowed by a High Court in Bangladesh in June 2024 which triggered the violence. Hasina actually cancelled quota in 2018. Hasina actually gave a very stable government despite many hurdles like foreign influence, Islamic radicalism, Rohingya influx etc. You have attributed absolutely no role to the BNP and the Jamat-e-islami. They are actually responsible and were backed by the Pak ISI, USA and the deep state. And the irony is... the newly appointed PM of Bangladesh (puppet of USA), soon after taking oath, quashed 84 of his criminal cases.
@@anviksiki108 I mean court is controlled by hasina goverment. what role does he have say about BNP or Jamat-islami in this protest? wdym by stable goverment? ofc she will have a stable goverment. Mobilization of a large number of people without any influence is impossible. - 40% are filled on Merit (provided no paper leaks or other corruption happen)
And the parties will never remove reservations because it is tied with political milage; nor will they extend these reservations to the castes that actually need upliftment.
These reservations have been cornered by the most influential castes in the so-called backward castes & they refuse to share it with the people in their own castes.

I got it at first I was also thinking the same but it's not like what y'all think. Also India wants to take our areas in the north of BD to solve their chicken neck problem. Whatever it is we don't want a government who killed so many students. They even killed innocent children who weren't even in the protest but in simply playing on their balcony, rooftop.
Absurd argument. You want India to align with Jamati Razakars and BNP Islamists?
Thanks bro From Bangladeshi ❤❤❤
I'm impressed & also very happy that things seems to be starting to go in a good direction in Bangladesh. 🏆

The Gen Z in Bangladesh are more stronger and intelligent than the Gen Z of the US.
I wonder why China didn't have these movements while its youth unemployment has reached 20%+ in official data and 47% according to Peking University researchers.
10:27 I think its Thailand not Bangladesh. Look at the flag on the flyover!
I agree . I see the Tri-colours flag of Thailand over the BTS railway. I think it is the mass protest on Sukumvit street.
That picture is Bangkok.

As a Bangladeshi I am telling you our people are happier than ever. She was an oppressor.
No violence ? Hindus are bing targeted and you say there is peace wow
Yes, they become President of the Country. Is it possible for a Hindu to become the president of Bangladesh?
In whole sub continent the living standards of Indian muslim is on top😎
I am from Bangladesh, the Indian government and Sheikh Hasina's government both are the culprits in this massacre.
Finally a comment to upvote!
There is some truth here, but as an Indian we should refrain from such broadstroke negative assumptions bcoz this adds to the anti indian views.
Democratic, prosperous, stable Bangladesh is preferred by India.
So we can hope for that. How things will turn out, we'll see.
@@shrutitomar if it becomes more prosperous it will become a threat like pakistan...

I am from Bangladesh and this is a very accurate representation of what happened.

Hello, thanks for the breakdowns of this whole thing. I was involved with the protests too as well as many of my friends.
Thank you, Caspian. Good work. You have done your homework unfortunately our neighbour India and its media especially the Godi media did not do theirs. They think it's some foreign plot and they are worried about our minorities while India's minority especially the Muslims are attacked, suppressed in the society. This change was brought by our youngs, the students, supported by the majority of common people. We are hoping things will get better.
How many minorities from India are ready to flee Bangladesh and Pakistan, but thousands are taking shelters in India , at time of India's Independence there were 27% Hindus in Pakistan (including East Pakistan) but today the number dwindled to less than 2% and Hindus, there representation is also absymally low while In India Muslims percentage have doubled from 8% of total population to 17-18 % today ,Muslims has representation in Film Industry, Music , Sports , Bussiness and Politics. India's richest community is not Hindu but Parsi another Minority community who came India to take refugees after Islamists captivated their land in Persia (Now Iran) , We have siya -sunni ahmedia and others firkas all living in one country, India also has Christian ,Jews , Parsis , Jain ,Boddh ,Sikhs and Atheist living in one country because in Hinduism everybody has place but Islam is a close and intolerant religion .
