I'm so glad that it was Mr. Brown too! What a blessing! Those of us who are drawn to that place know. Truly special, and I know that you won't ever take it for granted. Glad to see it man.
I am just so happy for you my friend. This brought tears to my eyes because I understand what this experience means to you. Meg definitely chose you, and I can’t think of anyone more deserving of being chosen. Also your storytelling kept me riveted the entire time and that is a gift. Congratulations Jude!
That's Awesome!! Man what a Gorgeous healthy fish.. Really like that smile it gave you too. I'm happy you were chosen by this fish, Some people don't have the love it takes to make sure it's about the care and release of these big fish, they fight hard and it does take time and patience to make sure they are good to go after a catch. Congratulations Jude !!!!
Grateful for you sharing the story and VERY MUCH deserved ! Great fish ! I learned that saying when I was just a kid from the person that introduced me to fly fishing... "You don't choose the fish... the fish choose you"
Great catch!! When I was a kid my dad would catch 30”-+ browns & rainbows all the time in the Ruidoso/ Hondo river NM. But it seems like ever since the NMDGF started stocking the Triploid trout, there’s not any wild trout in the rivers here Southern New Mexico.
Awesome fish and story. I fished the SJ a lot when I lived in Santa Fe in the early '80's. My best was a 25" bow on a 7' 4 wt. In those days it was a busy day if 6 guys were out. Cheers
That's an amazing fish. You clearly had the skills and the patience to catch it and land it. Must have been an absolute thrill! I'm still looking for one of those to choose me... :-) Been trying since 1988. But I'm with you: every fish counts and every fish still gets me excited.
Awsome fish! I lived in Alamogordo for a few years but never made it up there. I've seen that parking lot in a few other videos but can't seem to locate it. I'm coming out for a visit this spring and would love to get a chance to fish there, is it near the damn?
Best trout video I've ever seen. A moment of Mastery.
Thanks a ton! I appreciate that!

Yeah, that is about a mile below Navajo Dam at the Texas Hole Parking Lot. Walk up river from there. It’s all good wade fishing from there to the dam
